- Cockpit view from a 51 minute flight with the PMDG KLM 747-400 from Los Angeles (KLAX) to San Francisco (KSFO). Distance covered 307 nm / 353.3 miles / 568.6 km with a 10 minutes 45 seconds cruise at 38,000 feet.
Liftoff to touchdown: 50 minutes 55. Climb: 16 minutes 40, Descent: 23 minutes 30. Companion video to the Wing view of the same flight.
I was impressed...Loved it, love the way you programmed the flight( a place I have problems), but enjoyed the entire flight! do More!
Thank you :) *blushes*
How did you start the descend?? The FMC it self started it?
Make sure the correct ILS frequency gets or is selected for the desired runway. Either by selecting an arrival route through the FMC's [DEP ARR] button, in which case the frequency should be tuned automatically, or by manual selection using the FMC's [NAV RAD] button. Then use the [LOC] button to intercept the localiser. Then, use the [APP] button to intercept the glide scope. You'll eventually see the three autopilot buttons light up and a 'LAND3' label will show up in the PFD. Watch EGGD-EGBB.
At 3:09 I activated the autopilot's LNAV mode. LNAV (short for Lateral NAVigation) controls left and right movement of the plane, following a programmed flight-plan in the FMC or Flight Management Computer, the thing you see in the bottom left most of the time.
At 3:54, with the pointer to the left of the FMC button, I right-clicked the mouse to zoom out the map (left-click would zoom in).
Yep it's in real time. It really does take about an hour to cover the distance. The 51 minutes it took in this video is probably on the optimistic side due to optimal routing (a right turn after takeoff instead of a left turn in real life) and no holding patterns on the way.
My Cockpit Landing videos will give you an idea how to land a plane by hand. The Full Flights on my channel show how to fly with the autopilot. You could take a look at the channel of FSXreality and his new Cessna flights. I am not in India but in Europe. Happy flying!
With the FMC active, speed is dictated by the VNAV's climb, cruize, and descent page. The speed on those pages is derived from one of these settings: ECON, LRC (long range cruize) or a selected speed on the Main Control Panel (MPC). The latter takes precedence.
The altitude next to the waypoint (Kilo in your example) is the altitude where the plane needs to be reaching the waypoint. The FMC will tell you to set a new altitude on the MCP well before you have to descend. It will say 'RESET MCP ALT'.
This is no mission, just a flight I set up myself. You could of course copy the waypoints and other data that are shown at the beginning of the video to your own FMC, and then save the flight to have a crack at it yourself. Enjoy!
@MrLovemuscle89 Thank you, for this plane, try first match for PMDG on google. They're called precision manuals (development group). Flight Simulator X Gold Edition you could get from sites like Amazon. Enjoy!
@boeing4100: Cheers! Hope I get my upload / x264 conversion issues sorted soon so I can upload some more... Getting nothing but artifacts / distortions / corruption for the last few weeks :(
Great to hear that. You can find several more already on my channel page. I just finished a new Full Flight linking two Finnish cities. It should be up in the next 48 hours or so. Enjoy!
@FlightSimXGamer365 A proper Flight Management Computer (FMC) and coupled PLN view are not implemented on the default 747. Instead, a Garmin GPS panel is at your disposal.
How Did You Keep Your Speed ,For Any type Of Plane ??
What button did you press to make the plane make a right turn at 3:09? And what did you do to the navigation screen at about 3:54 What buttons did you press? :)
Appreciate the feedback :) Currently, there are four more full flights on my channel page to enjoy. A new one is planned for the next week or two. Cheers!
@FlightSimXGamer365 This is the PMDG 747, the screen he's using is called a Flight Management Computer which is way better than the default FSX GPS because you can enter your Gross Weight and other performance data and your take off flaps and it gives you V-speeds etc............In my opinion, this add on is worth buying, I just bought it a few days ago.
Landing manually is what pilots do whenever conditions allow, not to mention it is more fun. RUclips is already full of autopilot landings.
You are very welcome :-) Be sure to watch my latest Full Flight in Finland. A new one should be up in a few weeks. Hint: South America.
The descent was indeed initiated by the FMC reaching Top of Descent (T/D). Only need to lower MCP altitude before reaching.
Decrease the altitude with the selector on the Main Control Panel, the panel directly under the windows.
im sorry to inform u but it is a complex game game more than it is a simulator! Real pilots said that!
Thank you :) Hope you like some of my landing videos as well. There's nine of them to date.
r u in india
plz say me hoe to fly a plane do u have a video on that ????????? plzzzzzzz
How did you get the call-outs by take-off and landing 50 40 30 20
B1 Rotate B2
How did you get that?
You'll find the LRC option on the bottom right of the VNAV cruize (CRZ) page.
What's the name of this flight sim? And does anyone know the price of this software.?
I can't get the plane to start the engines are running but cockpit is not working :(
At 3:54 I meant to the the left of the TFC button, not FMC button.
How can you make a flight so realistic on FSX (callouts, flight computer etc.) ?
Cheers! Be sure to check some of my other Full Flights as well.
It will be a text, or a person saying that? Becose when I flyed that route no one was telling nothing?! :S
Thanks! Besides this PMDG plane add-on I only use Fsxrecorder.
It wil be a text message you get on the very bottom line on the FMC display
A very moderate amount of reverse thrust was used on landing.
All that stuff comes with this add-on plane from PMDG.
Incredible video and gameplay. Thanks for the upload!
no im replying to a guy who said " what fsx are you playing "
I recommend you spawn at a gate next time. If you're playing on VATSIM or the FSMP server, the other pilots and controllers will appreciate it.
One day I will. Too much concentrated on flying skills.
No need to be smart, just experience.
Experience is 90%. Practice, practice, practice.
Hold down the space bar on the keyboard and use your mouse.
no, it's just an addon plane with loads of complexity ;)
got to be smart to play this game thumbs up if you aggre
So when your flying from LA to LasVegas on 31000ft. When you look at legs in FMC you wil see 31k, 31k and sudenly at purhapse Kilo waypoint it,s at 18,000ft. Then at that waypoint you need to put the altitude down to 18,000ft??? Or what?
Between (in your example) 31k and 18k there will be a Top of Descent (T/D), which you can see in the FMC on the Progress page. Before reaching T/D you need to reset the altitude on de MCP in front of you to a lower value to allow the plane to descend automatically.
agreed. And the first mistake is to think its a game c:
The call-outs come with the PMDG plane itself.
Appreciate the feedback, glad you liked it :)
@miamidolphinfan1234 : Excellent choice!
Thank you for a great flight Captain Lowonewing.
brawo za gładkie lądowanie!!!!!! (polish)
Impressive, are you a real commercial pilot? It takes more then interest to learn this, you must know this to do a job
Thanks! I am not a pilot in real life. Color blindness made me a determined hobby pilot to get as close as possible to the real thing. Been flightsimming on and off since 2001, so I had a bit of practice under my belt...
This is Flight Simulator X.
Thanx Ill Try and see if i could find it !
Brilliant! I will watch them! :D
How do you free look in the cockpit view?
Nice landing! I watched the whole video!
What I Press To get long range Cruise ??
Correct me íf i'm wrong, isn't this VFR?
Yes it was a VFR landing. I did not yet know how to set up an ILS in the FMC. I only put in the route.
Very smooth landing, very very nice!
is it a mission?
cheers mate!!! :)
getting the plane for xmas
What,s ''lower MCP altitude''?? Please explane it to me, becose I,m a fu*king noob... ;)
This message is displayed in the FMC to warn you to reset the altitude on the MCP as described in above comment. If you don't, the plane will stay at the current altitude until you run out of fuel, basically...
Boss landing!
Flight Simulator X (10)
If you dont mind lonwonewing, Your PC Specs?
At the time it was a Core i5-760 clocked at 3.45Ghz. 8GB of RAM, Radeon HD5750.
is this flight in real time? does it really take an hour to get to san fran from la?
True Full Flight in real time yes. Aside from the right instead of left turn after takeoff, not too far off real life. Except for vectoring by ATC. Maybe add 5 to 10 more minutes for that.
It's Fraps. It rocks!
do you know that you was so close by ILS landing?
why did you disgange your AP???
All about manual landings. Keeping up skills.
Microsoft Flight Simulator X
sweet video
wat is this game called
hate these games!
Yep
sweet vidio
good games !!
@below yup
Nice video. What add-ons do you have
Only the PMDG 747-400X basically...
Fsx??
Short route for 747
True. It was more about putting my most realistic plane through its paces in a full flight. Right turn after takeoff certainly was not like in real life, but it made this short flight even shorter ;-)
Like a boss !! c:
You make me shy!
No reverses ?
It was idle reverse indeed. I was pretending to head for the international terminal beyond the end of the runway. Plenty of room to let the brakes do all the work.
