Imagine this being recorded in 720p on a first generation Core i5 using a mid-range video card also from 2010, with FSX settings to medium-high for playability while recording. What would the result look like, according to you? Btw, most of my other videos are in 1080p.

It's the old PMDG

It's a custom tower view in fsrecorder. The coordinates I determined while playing back the flight in fsrecorder and pausing it with the plane just past runway threshold. In the Custom tower view dialog, I slightly increased/decreased the suggested latitude (North-South) and/or longitude (East-West) to get an offset view.

True. It was more about putting my most realistic plane through its paces in a full flight. Right turn after takeoff certainly was not like in real life, but it made this short flight even shorter ;-)

I was pretending flaps were stuck at 20. In real life, even with multiple failures, this would never happen. Flaps have both hydraulic and electric motors for redundancy. I don't know what I was thinking ;-)

Doing short enough flights to make a recording of with Fraps was the name of the game in all my older videos. Fraps recordings took hundreds of gigabytes a piece. They had to be software encoded to mp4, taking many hours. Nowadays your graphics card delivers hardware mp4 encoding, keeping recordings to a fraction of the size in the old days. Also, I didn't want to bore my viewers too much with endless monotony...

Thanks for the great compliment. To be perfectly honest, this was the 8th attempt that evening, and I just wanted it to work that 8th time. Somehow that helped. Power/speed management was hardest to nail, but excellent practice. Also, I spent enough time exploring this left turn approach in a more forgiving Cessna 172.

This video was a recording of a replay of the flight. See the white on green text in bottom right corner. In that mode, no switches are displayed correctly. Autobrake was on during the actual landing. But: great attention to detail :-)

Nope.. TNCM doesn't have ILS therefore there is no use of autopilot on approach Autopilot d/c has a beeping sounds or some rave music sound and not 50's car drift sound ;)

Yes it was a VFR landing. I did not yet know how to set up an ILS in the FMC. I only put in the route.

VHHH is Chek Lap Kok airport, not Kai Tak. Kai Tak IS VHHX. Learn your ICAO.

It was a late rather than a rough one I would say mate. This was me years ago getting to grips with how much rudder input I needed. Maybe you like one of my 747 landings. Check back in a month or two and there will be a new 737 video that will be worth watching!

I have watched this one pretty good. FSX PMDG 747 Heavy Crosswind Landing @ Amsterdam EHAM (Cockpit view 1080p) . I am buying FSX and all the programs my computer crashed and I have not been able to get them will do that.
