I've been using this product on my coarse, dry, curly hair for 3 or 4 years now and I love it. However, I only use an amount about the size of a quarter and I apply it over a leave-in conditioner starting at the ends and working my way up. I also try not to apply any to my roots as that makes my hair feel heavy and weighed down. Another Shea Moisture styling product I love is their Curl and Style Milk of the same line. It's more of a lotion and not as thick as the smoothie formula. Again, a little goes a long way. It controls frizz and defines my curls beautifully!
Yes, I really need to learn to use less product! I'm so used to needing more. I'll give it another try and force myself to use only a quarter size! Thanks for the tip!
Love your hair length in this video. My hair is of very similar texture and curl pattern as yours only mine is brown. I used to straighten my hair every single day and I really paid the price over time. One day while sitting at my desk at work, I could smell my burnt bangs! It was my epiphany! I never again straightened again after that day. It took about a year and a half to get my curl pattern back to normal after all that abuse. I also use old T-shirts as hair towels because it doesn't have any nap to cause frizz. And I sleep on satin pillowcases for the same reason. :)
Honestly, I don't straighten my hair often only because my husband prefers it curly, lol. Even my kids say the same but once in a while its a nice change. I saw the same thing happen to my sister in law. Her hair used to be more curly and because she straightened it every day for YEARS she said she couldn't even get a small curl now if she tried.
She can get the curl pattern back but it will take some time and a lot of TLC. The blow dryer is public enemy #1 during the transition. It was very hard for me to just let my hair dry naturally all the time since it takes such a long time. But I got used to it when I began to see my hair getting curlier and shinier. I also only use shampoo once or twice per month. I use a conditioner to co-wash my hair most of the time and it keeps my hair in good condition. :)
Yes, will have to try less next time. I just have a ton of thick coarse hair so I tend to use a little more product then the usual person. Might try it again this week with less product, I'll let you know how it works out!
Hi angelsweetie84 - I just wanted to update you. I used the product again today and put in a lot less! Although my hair does look good it still seems greasy which I guess is what I meant with shiny. I'm thinking the reason for me that I don't care for that look is it brings me back to the days when the only product out for hair like mine was V05, lol. But not hating Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie! Will use it again and thanks for the tip because I will be using less product from now on! :)
Hi, Shea Moisture have a milk Coconut and ibiscus. Is light but need use a little bit. The smoothie is for hairs whith hight porosity, if you don't have is better the milk or use the smoothie whit hairs very wet and little product.
@@DebNYCurl hey so one of the reasons ur hair feels greasy is that u’re also adding the product to ur roots or the top of ur hair. The product isn’t made for that part and is making ur hair greesy
I love this stuff and it works great on my thick curly hair without any greasy feeling. You put WAY too much in. It even tells you to use a small amount.
Hi! I hope your reply but I just got this product and I also got the conditioner however the conditioner smelled great and when I smelt the enhancing smoothie it smelt a bit off putting when I looked at the color it had a bit of a yellow tone to it where as the conditioner had a white color to it. I just wanted to know if this was how it’s supposed to be or maybe this product old.
I have 2c with a small mix of 3a hair. My family has a range of 1c to 2c hair and I have almost always treated my hair as straight. I've tried to get into a good wavy hair routine but they have never worked. My hair just gets curly and puffs up into a mess. So, today I decided to go to Target and get something that could be put on my hair to try and bring out the curlies. I know the brand is known for working on thick corky hair so I decided to try it. I dunked my head under the bathroom sink to see what I was doing. I put some in my hair in that crunchy hand motion. Y'ALL!!!! 😳 My hair has stayed in its pattern and not fizzed out for 20 minutes!!! I so hope it stays like this overnight!!!!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 If it does I know EXACTLY what I'm using after almost every shower.
thank you for the review! i just think that you used a bit too much. and though you say your hair is 3b , it is not in any way shape or form 3b. and that’s fine! there’s nothing wrong with that. I’d give ur hair a 2b or c but it is definitely not a 3b. my hair is a mixture of 3a and 3b and even the 3a parts are much tighter
What I should have mentioned right away in that video, my bad, is that I still had Keratin treatment in my hair so it definitely does not appear 3b. I can see after watching why a lot of people say that. If you watch my curly hair journey video I just posted, you can see my hair is more 3b naturally but thanks to cuts and products I'm able to make my hair "look" more like a 2c and over time (kids etc) I think texture changed. But I think it was the Keratin treatment which loosens my curls and makes the "coarseness" disappear. And yes, I did use too much, ugh. Live and learn. I shouldn't have mentioned my hair type, lol. I think I caused an uproar! Thanks :)
NY Curl401 aw no don’t worry there’s no uproar! I’m sorry if i came off harsh lol i was just saying since it didn’t look anything like a 3b. but yeah it’s totally ok and we just wanted you to know that you didn’t have to use as much to achieve the look wanted! but thank you for the review and have a lovely day ! :)
My hair is about three times longer than yours, about the same curl pattern, and I use a quarter sized amount for my whole head. Try using half what you used and you might find it is way less greasy. My hair ends up feeling soft and fluffy, but still good curl hold. It's nice to see someone with my hair pattern trying out hair products :) Thanks!
I should have used it when I didn't have a Keratin treatment in my hair still. My natural hair is very thick and coarse. Looking back on this video I see I definitely have Keratin still in. My bad.
MOMO Beauté even though my hair is wavy it isn’t thick. I Wes the product because it makes my hair feel so darn good and thicke. Best post menopausal hair care product ever.
Your hair is in the 2's nor where near a 3. You need to check the curl chart out. I'm in the 3's. 3c to be exact. This product is not meant for your hair type.
@@tamarastone141 she still had keratin treatment in her hair in this video as she has said in multiple comments. If you look at her more recent videos you can see her hair is naturally mostly 3a. So yes, this product is made for her hair type. Stop telling strangers that they don’t have a certain curl type, it’s weird.
Luigi Myman this was really from a year what-... anyways i said that because i thought the line was made for thick hair because it’s what the brand has on the container? i wasn’t trying to offend anyone; because obviously what works, works lol.
@@DebNYCurl This is such a nice response. I see many comments concerning the amount and your hair type too. If how you use it, works for you, then that is all that should matter.
My hair is collar bone length n i use like a pea size amount in eaxh side of my hair....apply to damp hair, stay away from the roots....much less greasy looking that way...u just gotta be reaaaaaal light handed with it.
I think put a little to much maybe that’s could be problem(I love your hair looks) but I totally get it if you don’t like it because I have a problem with some curly hair products . I use it I have ethnic hair it’s about three and it works well. I found it very affordable compared to the other brand I was using I just can’t afford to pay $30 a bottle anymore.
I used this in the past hoping it'd help my wavy hair, and didnt realize how thick it was. Totally too much weight for my waves. But I just bleached my hair last night and today I bought a hair product that felt a lot like this and wanted to see how people apply it and their reviews on this type of product. Last night and tonight my hair was LAPPING up any and all leave ins and oils and not even acting like there was too much product. And this is very thick and slows drying time. SO Im wondering if my hair will absorb it all of if its too thick haha. Coz I too do not like the greasy feel it left behind. And if my thirsty hair drinks this up, this COULD be the saving grace product. Will see once my hair dries!
Honestly, not sure if this product is for wavy hair. I think with the bleaching your hair is dry so it will take anything up! If you have a leave in Conditioner maybe try that so your hair will be moisturized. Try a Mousse along with that. I think for Waves a Mousse works good!
I put some in a spray bottle and add water with it and I shake it up then I spray on my hair. It was perfect. Didn’t weigh my hair down. I add some drops of lavender essential oil with it too.
I have the same hair type as yours and tried various products and haven’t quite found the one I like because they all make my hair feel very greasy or just ruin the curl
The reason why you don't like it too much is because the creators are from the African American Community it is for their hair type and they need the extra moisture in their hair! It is hard to find products for our Civic hair type because our hair is straight if we put exactly the same kind of stuff that the African American Community uses for their their hair our hair will look really greasy and it look like we did not wash it. The products that I use from this company is there shampoo their conditioner in their hair mask and they're leaving conditioner!🤗
You sound dumb, this product line can be used by anyone with curly hair. Im fully white and this product line makes my hair pop like no other. Curly hair in general regardless of race is going to be dryer than any other type of hair not just because you're black or whatever
Inky X Kitsune no one is dumb. The reason she is saying that is because of the review that the lady is giving. That product is marketed towards African Americans because our hair is a different texture and what’s in the products makes y’alls hair look greasy and dirty. There’s products for us and products for you. If you have courser hair for your ethnicity then this product may work. But there are a plethora of other products that would work for you and not for us. Therefore when your ethnicity uses our products and gives a negative review, it doesn’t matter because they aren’t looking for your opinions good or bad.
You can just say black. Not every black person is from africa or America. Black people is perfectly fine to use. Although any race can use this product. This is for curly hair and any race can have curly hair.
i tried to blow dry my hair after putting this in and it went completely flat and straight (which is so wierd, usually my hair is a wavy/curly mess) so if anyone has tips for like 2a or 1c curls pls help
This isn't really used to make your hair straight, it's to keep it curly and probably more for a 3b and higher type of curl. You would probably benefit from using a mousse. My earlier videos I had Keratin treatment in my hair so it was a looser curl and mousse would help my curls curl better. If you search "mousse" in my video section I have many reviews that might help!
LOL yea I used a little more than I could have but honestly for my type of hair I need a lot. In this video I have Keratin in my hair but naturally I have thick coarse hair and I have a ton of it so to this day and for many years using more always makes my curls look better. I hope you like it! It's a good product!
This blended recipe of tea, fruits, ice and proteins is a great way to get your daily vitamins and that extra and natural energy boost. I stated before that you can substitute any fruit in here to make it more to your liking, but trust me on this excellent combo. Antioxidant Breakfast Smoothie: 1 cup green tea 1 cup white tea 1 full Banana 1 cup of Acai Berries 1 cup of Blueberries 1 cup of Bilberries 1 cup of Goji Berries 2 tbsp Whey Protein (or Slim Fast vanilla) 2 cup of ice I highly recommend putting in the ice and both white and green tea into the blender first, mix these up so its almost a slushy. From here you can add your fruits and whey protein to the mix and I usually let it blend for 45 seconds to a minute. Give this smoothie a try for a week and hopefully you will notice that you feel better, and have no problem keeping awake at your job.
Omg look at you all curl shaming the poor woman when you all came here for her review 🤔 just because someone isn’t African they still can use the products calm the F down 😀 seriously Her hair is 3A not straight!
For your information THIS product was made FOR BLACK PEOPLE AND BY BLACK PEOPLE!!! The same way most of you arrogant white people complain about us black women trying to look too much like you guys concerning our hair is the same way we can comment on a 👱🏻♀️using a👩🏿women's hair products so there's no need to tell us to calm the f down ok!!! 😉✌🏿
I've noticed people sying her hair usnt " curly". Wavy is a type of curl and yes if you ask by one on the treet her hsir is curly! Not kinky but there's all types of curls.
Ohh I'm sorry to hear that. Honestly, it's not my favorite product but it's ok for me. I think we all just have such different hair types it really depends on one's hair. When you know other products work better doesn't make sense to use products that just don't cut it.
My hair? I have very thick curly hair and a lot of it. Products control it. Every hairdresser I've had tells me how thick my hair is. It's hard to really tell the texture from a video...
True I think you are right, without product you would see I'm more of a 3b I think. I'm half Dominican so I guess that's where I get the texture you can't tell on video. Sometimes I look at my videos and feel my hair looks better than in person lol.
I believe I answered this for you on another video but it's for when you are ready to dry your hair after rinsing or washing. So really depends on the person. 😊
I bought the gel one by mistake._. so sad I realized that after using it on my hair ._. it's 3:38 and I realized it is gel I have school tomorrow T^T lmaooo
@@Kevin-hn7en Um no...this product is for afro-centric hair. Black peoples hair has a completely different make up than any other race and needs ingredients not available in you average branded products. This product was specifically designed for and is only located in the super tiny "ethnic" section of hair aisles. It DOES NOT have the same effects for other races....
You both sound soooo dumb, these products can be used by anyone with curly hair regardless of race. Does it say "only for african American hair" on the package? I'm white af and this product line works AMAZING for my hair.
@@deandrejackson680 Dove, L'Oreal, and Pantene don't say "white only", but they're not made for Black people. They don't have what we need in the products. I don't care how White you are or if you want to use SheaMoisture, but it's is (was) a Black owned product made FOR black people. That was their entire campaign when they initially entered the market so there goes sounding "sooooo dumb".
Yes I know, I did another video using a lot less, still not my favorite but not terrible. So many other products work better for my type of hair. I'm always heavy with my product out of habit, I have thick coarse hair and a lot of it although during this video I still had some keratin in my hair.
@@DebNYCurl I will try, my friend will get me from abroad, cuz in my country I can't find... Anyway, your hair looks great at video, I liked result, but you know better what suits the best for your hair.
LOL! My son has my hair (dark, different color) and keeps it SOO short, almost buzzed. I'm trying to get him to grow it out. I know he has to go through the "bad" stage but I think it will look awesome!
NY Curl401 mine is black, thick, frizzy, and curly. I’ve kept it short all my life but I’m finally growing it out (currently 5 months in). I’ve been looking for products I can use to ease the frizz and exemplify the curls now that it’s long enough to style
It’s for natural Curly textured hair. Your hair is straight with a wavy pattern. No texture at all. And it’s super greasy cause natural textured hair needs a tons of moisture. You should delete this 🤦🏾♂️
Yup I know! LOL. I always use more product than the average person. I have a ton of thick coarse hair so for me, more is always better for nicer curls. This product though I didn't need as much. I re-did it but even this video is getting old! ruclips.net/video/odP1sH0RC-4/видео.html
first of all, are you blind? her hair may not be CURLY curly but it’s definitely not straight. second of all, you have a fortnite pfp, so you’re automatically not entitled to having a valid opinion.
Holy shit girllllll, that's way to much product you be using dam, I'm sure it is greasy and crunchy cus you used wayyyyyy too much, helllooo you ain't got that much hair, I have more hair than you and I use the same product but I use less of the smoothie, my curls are not greasy, use less.😱👌

@@Airieyontheair unbelievable how delusional people are!!!
@@Airieyontheair shut up🙄
You can just say black. Not every black person is from africa or America. Black people is perfectly fine to use. Although any race can use this product. This is for curly hair and any race can have curly hair.
I like your technique applying the product. I can’t wait to try it! Learning so much with your videos thank you 😊
Thank you! I love to hear that!
i tried to blow dry my hair after putting this in and it went completely flat and straight (which is so wierd, usually my hair is a wavy/curly mess) so if anyone has tips for like 2a or 1c curls pls help
okay my bad i looked up my hair type, it’s more of a 2b with SOME 2C curls in it?
This isn't really used to make your hair straight, it's to keep it curly and probably more for a 3b and higher type of curl. You would probably benefit from using a mousse. My earlier videos I had Keratin treatment in my hair so it was a looser curl and mousse would help my curls curl better. If you search "mousse" in my video section I have many reviews that might help!
best product of all time
It says use SPARINGLY on the bottle..... 😬😬😬
I hope mine turns out well when I give this a shot
LOL yea I used a little more than I could have but honestly for my type of hair I need a lot. In this video I have Keratin in my hair but naturally I have thick coarse hair and I have a ton of it so to this day and for many years using more always makes my curls look better. I hope you like it! It's a good product!
This blended recipe of tea, fruits, ice and proteins is a great way to get your daily vitamins and that extra and natural energy boost. I stated before that you can substitute any fruit in here to make it more to your liking, but trust me on this excellent combo.
Antioxidant Breakfast Smoothie:
1 cup green tea
1 cup white tea
1 full Banana
1 cup of Acai Berries
1 cup of Blueberries
1 cup of Bilberries
1 cup of Goji Berries
2 tbsp Whey Protein (or Slim Fast vanilla)
2 cup of ice
I highly recommend putting in the ice and both white and green tea into the blender first, mix these up so its almost a slushy. From here you can add your fruits and whey protein to the mix and I usually let it blend for 45 seconds to a minute. Give this smoothie a try for a week and hopefully you will notice that you feel better, and have no problem keeping awake at your job.
More in the wavy side of things but it works alright! Xx
Shiny is good! I think u used too much, hair looks really good though,
Thanks, yes I use a lot less since. I even added it to another video to prove it ha ha. Everyone told me I used too much.
i wonder if its for daily use or only once in a while
If it works well for your hair, you can use it daily, as long as you rinse it out between.
Omg look at you all curl shaming the poor woman when you all came here for her review 🤔 just because someone isn’t African they still can use the products calm the F down 😀 seriously Her hair is 3A not straight!
Lol thank you!!!🥰 I just laugh when I'm told I don't have curly hair.
@@Iamwhoiam993 this product is made for people with curly hair, not just black people. Anyone with curly hair can use this product. Stfu
I've noticed people sying her hair usnt " curly". Wavy is a type of curl and yes if you ask by one on the treet her hsir is curly! Not kinky but there's all types of curls.
I try this too many times ech time less and less is JUST HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! my hair just hates it..
Ohh I'm sorry to hear that. Honestly, it's not my favorite product but it's ok for me. I think we all just have such different hair types it really depends on one's hair. When you know other products work better doesn't make sense to use products that just don't cut it.
Right!
This product is meant for curly hair, not wavy
thank you!!!! some needs to break it to her
lol
It’s for natural ( black girl hair) !!! Thank u
@@nykolerouser2819 its for anyone with curly hair😂
It’s too thick for wavy mines wavy and you go lighter on it
Thats not thick curly hair btw
My hair? I have very thick curly hair and a lot of it. Products control it. Every hairdresser I've had tells me how thick my hair is. It's hard to really tell the texture from a video...
NY Curl401 oh well the creators were focusing more on thick curly 3b-4c hair but i understand
True I think you are right, without product you would see I'm more of a 3b I think. I'm half Dominican so I guess that's where I get the texture you can't tell on video. Sometimes I look at my videos and feel my hair looks better than in person lol.
NY Curl401 your hair is a 2b and it looks like your hair is between thin and thick its ment for curly hair you have wavy hair
Straight Wavy just let her have her own opinion
Can someone tell me how often to use the product ?
I believe I answered this for you on another video but it's for when you are ready to dry your hair after rinsing or washing. So really depends on the person. 😊
@@DebNYCurl Oh shoot I havent seen that video yet but thank you for the answer ❤
That’s too much product. Also, use it on wet hair. I have fine and low/medium density hair and it works best this way.
Can this be used as a deep conditioner
I think so!
Looks great!!
Thanks!
She added to much
You have about 3/4 of the hair care products aisle. That small 1/4 section isn't for your hair.
Actually my favorite products, if you watched any recent videos, are from that section. Mixed Chicks Leave-In is my number 1! :)
No debes hacerte ralla, cortas el patrón del rizo..🙋
Una pregunta, el.producto se aplica con el pelo humedo o seco?. Gracias
@@davisitohdez5086 2 years late lol but wet hair!
That’s a tone of product 😲 you used
Omg what are you doing?
im shocked a white woman is using this :O
LOL!! Half Dominican!
white girls can have thick curly hair, i have thick curly hair and i use this and it works great.
ace wow.... How screwed up can you get
Fancy681 lmao relax
I am a white woman and since I 've discovered this product I love my hair....
does it work as curl activator?
It's moisturizing and fights frizz so yes. Although you should have some sort of curl to begin with, that would help. :)
@@DebNYCurl 😍😍😍😍 thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!
ORS MONOI OIL NOT GREASY AND GREAT. My spouse has the same curl hair.
Ooo ok I will look it up thanks!!😊
No.
does this product work for men?
Sure! My son has curly hair works good on him.. only need a little! I used a lot in this video lol.
@@DebNYCurl thank you, and do i have to use the product daily to keep my hair curly?
@@imanhewamanage731 I recommend 2 times a week , while hair is wet
C’est pour cheveux noir métisse ou arabe pas pr les blondes cheveux fins c’est pr cela que le résultat ne lui plait pas
I have thick dry coarse hair and a lot of it! I'm half Dominican.
I bought the gel one by mistake._. so sad I realized that after using it on my hair ._. it's 3:38 and I realized it is gel I have school tomorrow T^T lmaooo
LOL was the gel good?
@@DebNYCurl it is really good ...thank you
yesssss icon!!!
222 all my manifestions are here.
it’s shiny and a lot of oil cause you used A LOTTTT
Yea...I know. 😣
This is for African American type hair 🥴
lowkeyyzoey_ da i was like wtf
You sound dumb as fuck. It’s a curl enhancing smoothie, it works with curly and wavy hair no matter the color.
It's grassy because you put too much on your hair, for your length is toooo much
Yes I know, I did another video using a lot less, still not my favorite but not terrible.
You used way to much product it says right on it use sparingly
I liked is bewtifull ❤️
😲😲😲😲😲😲😲 What?
Lmao I’m a guy and I have the same hair texture and volume as u.
Your hair is NOT curly sorry.
Lol!
Anais Beauty its more of a wavy
Anais Beauty your hair isnt either? Btw curls are curls you guys see curls as tight coils but Laid down loose curls are also curls
Luigi Myman my love my hair is naturally curly lmfaoooo
Luigi Myman her hair is gorgeous but it’s not curly she has beautiful waves. Me I have super curly hair I choose not to keep it natural at times .
I like it shiny on you.
Really? Thanks! I'll have to try this product again!

It’s for natural Curly textured hair. Your hair is straight with a wavy pattern. No texture at all. And it’s super greasy cause natural textured hair needs a tons of moisture. You should delete this 🤦🏾♂️
LOL!
Stop embarrassing yourself
You used way to much
Yup I know! LOL. I always use more product than the average person. I have a ton of thick coarse hair so for me, more is always better for nicer curls. This product though I didn't need as much. I re-did it but even this video is getting old! ruclips.net/video/odP1sH0RC-4/видео.html
YOU USED TOO MUCH AND YOUR HAIR IS SUPPOSE TO BE DAMP OR DRY ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
This is an old video. I've mentioned I used too much although I think it looks good! My hair was damp.
Stop your har is strait
first of all, are you blind? her hair may not be CURLY curly but it’s definitely not straight. second of all, you have a fortnite pfp, so you’re automatically not entitled to having a valid opinion.
Ahh I know! I keep hearing it, lol. As I mentioned in the description ever since I use a lot less. I also used it in another video using less.
This is an awful video. You used far too much product
It *isn't* awful. Other comments gave constructive advice and told her to use less product in future. Really simple solution. No one cares for your comment. How hard is it to click off a video you don't like, you troll?
Does it work for straight to curly ?
Hmm I'm thinking it would be too thick. Honestly, I don't have straight hair so not sure about products thay do that, I'm sorry!
