- We stopped in for parts at Sloan Implement, and saw a very large grain cart! We compared sizes of the new one and found that it is the same height as the cart we had last year!

Summer Schedule
Expect a new video every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday! (Schedule May Vary)
How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a RUclips channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin. Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like. These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.
You're just like us all. Every time you stop by any tractor place it's like a kid in the candy store.
Take care. 😎👍👌
You know you need to upgrade your combine when you're measuring carts at the dealer. Or just get the right size cart for your combine. Here's your sign, lol.
You size the cart for your trucking, not your combine.
@@brentbell9543 lol, it takes them a half a day to even fill up the grain cart.
@@jeffreyhouston2043 😬 cart might not be needed.
@@brentbell9543 wouldn't the size of the combine dictate the trucking you need ?
@@jeffreyhouston2043 trucking you need =/= trucking you have
We run an 1394 avalanche on a John deere 8410 and we are mostly flat ground and it gets around OK, hills are most definitely a problem, weight being the biggest problem. Love the avalanche carts though
You get all the cool tools. That is one big cart - when your father was standing next to the tire...wow! Really shows how big it is. Looking forward to seeing harvest and that cart "in the wild".
That cart is huge, but like you said you don't have to fill it full on steeper ground. Great video as always.
Good to see you guys getting these demo opportunities. Folks with far less subscribers are getting them regularly.
I love watching other people from Wisconsin!
Ryan I ran a 8285r with a 1396 cart in North Dakota. Struggled a little in the hills but we never loaded it more then 60k. Your tractor should handle it fine
Nice should help speed things up. Thanks for the video!
The thumbnail shows the grain cart to be HUGE! I’m glad it will work for you.
Man they just keep making those grain carts bigger and bigger the cart looks awesome can't wait to see it in action
Brent makes a 2200 bushel one
That's one heck of a grain cart😉👍looking forward to see travis mowing with a 9530😅👍
This grain cart will be so helpful this fall👍👍
Looking forward to seeing the harvest videos and that cart in action.
We run a Brent 1194 cart, ran it on a Cat 55 for the first three years, your 8235 will get the job done but will struggle.
Ow man that's a big cart. Very cool though ! 👍🏻👍🏻
Those tires are massive
It’s not necessarily a low profile, it’s just a flat bottom cart with an auger feed in the bottom toward the unload auger up front, and not a gravity wagon style cart where it all slopes to the middle and then up and out. The harvest crew I was on runs 1396 avalanches and the the other older style cart like you had last year.
I ran a 1396 on harvest. I loved it. Especially how you can disengage the bottom auger if you left the gate open
Maybe Sloan's will give you a combine to demo also.
11:00 HAHAHA. That was great.
Unloading on the go saves a good bit of time
Y’all should get a 4960. That would be an awesome tractor to watch you guys use
Low profile? Looks like a high profile! What a beast! Nice looking 8200👍🏾
i was surprised you guys bought 3rd skid steer instead of upgrading to a bigger tractor
Or even another one
Or upgrade the combine, lol.
When you have 3 cattle farms 3 skid steers would be so much more convent and lets he honest do they need a bigger tractor?
@@benjaminbauer4883 yep, you always need a bigger tractor!
If the 82 broke down during the harvest. The cart will be useless so yeah, 2nd big tractor is probably wise to have as a backup. Things do happen so plan accordingly but i know they do come with hefty price tag.
Ryan, are you planning to video all the action and the bumps and bruises when you guys change the roller in the baler? It would make an interesting video, and something I would enjoy watching. And I'm sure others would be interested as well.
Real green tractor at 12:15 across the street. Yes, I'm an Oliver fan.
Sweet!! The Old Man has the right idea, lol.
8235 is going to struggle a little but will get the job done we have 8370R and a 410Rs to pull our 1396s
couple ideas what we did is used a large chain and wraped it around the drew bar and over the lower arms of the 3 pt hitch to support the draw bar if you still have the smaller buggy i would just guess it off at about 850 to 900 on the big cart then load up the smaller buggy with a good size load on it i have also seen guys set the bigger cart up and use smaller buggy to load their bigger cart just ideas i have used when i was a farm hand and working with what i had to work with i really do hope these ideas help you guys
Are you gonna use the new grain cart as a "portable grain bin" in the field & use the Brent to run from combine to grain cart?
I got a 8320R JD tractor & a 2018 F350 diesel, pickup also had a 2011 with a diesel same pickup, with DEF, never a problem with the DEF systems. I buy my DEF from JD store. I buy it in bulk / 30 gallon plastic former roundup / Power Max barrel. Use a plastic hand pump to transfer it.
Nice grain cart overloader! Low centerpoint of gravity isn't a bad thing either. Unverferth haven't started to use conveyor belts instead of(dual-) auger for more mild transport of crops and a good capacity?
Thanks for the great information Ryan , looking forward to seeing the grain cart in action 👍
I like those monster truck tires.
Im not thinking the 82 will have much of a power issue im more so thinking about the stopping, especially on that one hill that the red brent used to push you around on lol
Hey Ryan!! Now that's a big cart! Could you put an auger extension on the combine or would it not be worth it?
Ryan:its 2wheeldrive don´t get any ideas..lol 😂
Wonder if the 46 would run that. If you had a drawbar support you might be able to get by but it’s risky. Nice cart
Maybe you should upgrade your combine before getting a bigger cart.
Just go ahead and tune up the 82. It has always been a case of when, not if, anyways.
awsome video ryan that is one huge grain cart the biggest i ever seen so far the size of the tires on that thing is mined blowing lol thumbs up and shared
Going to Be nice to see it in motion that’s for sure
Great How farms work Video, thanks for sharing
good job man good video it's only money when you tell the banker lol
You just gotta love new "toys'
The Green cart is huge. Definitely makes you guys look tiny lol
You need to extend the length of your unload auger. That will give you more height with length.
I would say its about time ya get 1300 bu dual auger cart, being able to unloading 850 bu a minute really nice to have. I did think Ryan left out a major advantage with dual auger grain that ground pressure is better compared just a corner auger if the 1396 had tracks ya even have less ground pressure...
Good to check out since grain Catt tires r bigger than the combines.
Have a good night nice video
Greeting from almond country California!
Those green carts look best behind red Quadtracs...
Maybe a bigger combine also ??
have fun with the new toy ! Hopefully the 8235 is not underpowered for it ! Greetings from Belgium
thats gonna eat ur 8235R alive
thanks Ryan, really good, much appreciated! I thought you were going to say you'd use your lottery winnings to buy a stable of pre-def horses, enough to last a lifetime and more! lol the sucky part of life is when you get old enough to see stuff you really like start to go away! oh well lol Nice little wagon!!
Yeah that def crap is just a lot of added expenses and repairs that returns EXACTLY *ZERO* benefit to the operation... I'll keep my old stuff... Later! OL J R :)
A newer combine would help. I bought a new 9600 in 1990 that could harvest 2,000 bus per hr. It soon could not harvest my corn crop. I sold it for $18,000 because around here a small combine had no market.
Just upgrade to a 9RX and an X9 combine Ryan, problems solved! 😉
That’s a good plan
If you do go for a 175m please please please get front suspension.
do you remember that sleigh ride you took with the manure spreader?
A JD 8420 would pull a large cart, a strip till rig and VT. Cart breaks might help!
Good stuff Ryan, that is a massive grain cart, should do a great job:):)
When do you plan on getting a bigger combine
When someone gives them a free one to run.
"We need a 9530 to cut hay with" lol
Good stuff 🤜🤛
Would buying or leasing another truck trailer help speed up the harvest?
Bump the power up on all your machines.
Should have asked for one with tracks, they sit lower.
If it is going to be so handy why not buy it like the rest of us have to. Own a V-1100 7930 handled it well now use 8295R
nice cart.
you msy want to check how much hitch weigbt tactor can handle.
thats maybe your limiting factor.
enjoy.
I’m just confused Travis went to school to be a John Deere mechanic he can’t fix his remote on his tractor I was fixing remotes on John Deere tractors and 68 at the age of 13 it’s not that difficult
Your gonna want about 300 hp for that 8370s work good
Don't they have specs on the grain cart so you know how high it is?
can they go with a smaller diameter tire to lower the overall height. I understand it will change some things unintended but night be worth it
That's a hold for a grain boat not a grain cart 🤯 it's rather big 😳😉. Can't wait or is that weight to see it 🤔🤣😂 Stay safe 🏴
Great video keep Ryan
Don’t think you can handle that one on the hills! Can you?
When do you guys plan on trading the combine?
Looks cool
Combine upgrade next year? Lol
NICE!!!!
Save the wood from the packaging. You got some money there. Lol
Love the vids
Nice vid
Where do they keep the spare tire for that cart? 🤔 🤣
They should buy a claas combine new and see it as 20 year investment
Awesome
Maybe John Deere will be nice and let you demo an 8R 370 to pull it?
That 8200 is more reliable them that 6175m all you're going to have with that one is a bunch of d e f and electrical problems
Need big bud to pull it
Get a different combine, problem solved! Hahaha
That cart will be seriously dangerous in hills with your mfwd definitely need more tractor… hp isn’t the problem weight and stopping will be a big issue
Must be nice to get free equipment to use
Are you telling us the 8235 will pull 90,000 pounds?
How many RPMs do I need run my cart V1100 Brent
Are you planning on going to farm progress
I’d be much more concerned about weight. That cart loaded up will push a tractor around on any kind of hills.
Yeah no kidding. That thing fully loaded and going up a hill would put a tremendous amount of stress on the 8r
I never get, why they dont fit those with breaks. You see hardly any trailer without them in Europe.
@@KAWoTReplays no need for breaks, tractor will stop it better then breaks as long as you have a heavy enough tractor. Breaks are also expensive and it’s just one more thing to maintain.
They never fill it all the way up, lol.
@@PaulsonFarms but so are tractor brakes which are often bathed in the same oil as the hydraulics and transmission trailer brakes aren't most are often just drunk brakes similar to a semi on a lot now semi axles with air brakes are sold as an option.
I believe here (UK) all trailers built after 1985 have to have brakes with at least 20% efficiency after 2016 they have to have service and breakaway breaks if it goes over 25mph (40kph) it also has to have a park brake.
Heck yeah
Know of a 6170r 2900 hours for sale
Better reinforce the drawbar or your asking for trouble! When it breaks I hope your insurance is paid up.
Cool 😎
