In the video you can see at 3:46 the payment for the power of Judge but it's an error. The payment must be done with the money in courthouse BEFORE che claim of Judge and not after this like in the video. So, for the example in the video the payment will be zero and not 2 coins.
I played this one by accident with a bunch of youngsters and I could not believe how much fun they were having and how fast they were playing it, it went a little past my head with all the mind tricks but the funny thing was the reaction to my first action: I peeked at my card and they were like "OMG CAN YOU DO THAT TOO???" lolz.
this is currently my best bluffing game. Played 2 players and 3 players version. Very strategic when playing with 3 or 4 players, strongly recommended. This game is very portable, and can easily carry to parties or travel. Very good game.
Amazing art and a very good review. The only problem with games like this is that they play better with large groups and I don't know many who like trick/party games.
I have played this a few times with the 2 player variant. From chaos comes concentration. It definately becomes a bit of a memory game but with a strong bluffing element. I love it at the lower player count too, the game morphs into more serious affair...... but with some laughs, cos you still get it wrong. Great stuff
Game looks pretty great, I've already got Coup on the way though, and my gaming group JUST had a conversation last night about how they dislike Poker because of the bluffing aspect... so this probably wouldn't fly. I'll keep it in mind though. Great review!
Sir the ability of the Cheat confuses me in the rule book says- "Wins the game if they have 10 or more gold coins" - which means I must have first 10 coins or more to activate and start announcing my character and If I'm correct, automatically wins the game? Can I start with less than 10 coins before announcing the character ( Cheat)? Can I also challenge who announces that they are the Cheat if I only have less than 10 coins? My outcome is if I challenge and I'm correct but only less than 10 coins will I pay to the courthouse?
Can't wait to try this one out. The Resistance has gone over extremely well in my gaming group, and this seems like a good next step. The role selection from Citadels always intrigued me, but the rest of the game sounded like a drag, so this sounds like an improvement, with quick and manageable bluffing. I also like that it can go up to 13 players; my game groups tend to get big and people are resistant to breaking into smaller groups. Thanks for the great review, this is on my wishlist!
my only question is what happens if something like "im the king" and someone else says "no im the king" and theyre both wrong. looking into picking this up, as we have no real hidden identity games at the moment, and werewolf is better with larger groups, my group is usually 3-4 players
Hidden roles i game is also a blast so it would work well within my group. How does it work with less than seven players? Haven't yet found the rules for this game...
Well, this is from the author of Citadels, so it looks and feels very similar, though i would probably even agree to play this one (hate Citadels:)) as it looks more like a party game and faster. I hate to invest time and thinking into Citadels and waste it because of random decisions from other people..
Instead of characters, they should use regular people's names - it would make the game more international and no translation would be needed. I work with Portuguese kids from poor neighborhoods and they don't speak a word of English.
When Judge's power is evoked, the money is collected from the courthouse BEFORE anyone pays their fine. Just to clarify :-)
Can you explain it a bit further?

That's much more simple than I expected.

You can't activate the power if you have less than 10 coins...

2-13? Is it fun with only 2?
Probably not lol.
I love the resistance, so I bet I'll love this.

They both pay a gold to the courthouse, neither activates the kings power, the cards are placed face down once again and the game continues.
Lol had this game a while. Figured this out a long time ago, but the answer is appreciated
The beggar is a blank card to try out different powers that you create.

I must have this! Just for the artwork! Simply beautiful! :D
Can't wait until it comes to here to Sweden!
gold or dolar ?
There is a special game mode for 2 and it works very well.
I suppose if nobody has the card claimed, then just nothing happens this turn?
So, I've seen a 13th character, the Beggar. Does it have any power? It seemed not to have any.
The creator didn't assign a power to it, but he said that you can assign whatever you want to it as a group!
What happens if 2 or more people claim to be a card and none of them are?
They pay a fine to the courthouse and then play continues
It's here. Bought mine from WorldofBoardgames last week.
Agreed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My copy of Citadels will never see the light of day again.

this looks fun wish i had a gaming group. :(
Beat me to it! hehe i believe it goes for all characters, abilites go first then penalties
between this, Coup, and Citadels. Own 2 out of 3, may pass on this because seems too similar
Looks great
Are they actually called dollars? ....
I know, but it's out of stock now... :/

There's a Spanish version of the game. So I assume there could be a Portuguese one?
