According to Mel Brooks' 1975 "Playboy" Magazine interview, "We mentioned Raisinets in 'Blazing Saddles' and now the company sends me a gross of them every month. A gross of Raisinets!"
So, those raisinets Nick got were 45 years old?
Never thought reading Playboy "for the articles" could provide genuine context for something.
Well that's what I think of raisinets. Gross!
"First time, long time." That KILLED me.
Conan clearly is only getting funnier with age...so his fears are definitely unfounded! And I think the podcast format has only allowed him to be less guarded and formulaic. It's a great fit, which I'm sure is surprising for a lot of people who got use to Conan sitting behind a late night desk for decades.
YES
Yeah it’s not that he’s getting funnier with age, but more that the podcast allows you to see more of the full version of him. That’s why all the remotes he went out on were so great, as when he’s not nailed down to a studio with pre-written dialogue, he’s at his best.
He's definitely more free. Free Conan is the best Conan.
Agreed, but I still think appearances by the masturbating bear would be welcomed. But
Kroll is pretty damn close.
He always shined brightest in his remotes when he could just quip and be witty on the spot, instead of in scripted gags. So yeah, the podcast really shows how great he is just being a naturally funny and witty person.
1:08 Nick's deadpan when saying the Music Man episode of the Simpsons is one of his two biggest influences, and Conan's raised-eyebrow nodding acceptance of that.
What's that episode? I looked for it and it was The monorail episode
@@paulovemx2222 That's the one.
@@paulovemx2222Conan wrote most of that episode, it’s also one of the more famous episodes of the Simpsons in history
@@AliceYobby i know the monorail episode very well because of conan but they were referencing it with another name which i didn't know was very a big inspiration for the episode, thanks anyway
“I give you these 15….crash …10…..commandments”
The Inquisiiiition!
I watched the great Mel Brooks, on Conan's late night show, go on and on about his new Hollywood walk of fame induction. He said he did the handprints in concrete and all of it.
He went on about how special it was and how honored he was.
Then, he let on that he had used a fake extra little finger on one of his hands for the handprint, just to be memorable.
Everyone laughed hysterically at that and then...he held up his hand with the sixth finger and No ONE had noticed.
Conan, Andy, the crowd, nobody notices. He waved that hand around like he was in a parade and nobody noticed until he held up his hand to point it out.
One of the funniest gags I've ever seen...
The fact that Conan gave zero reaction to the line about "The Music Man episode from The Simpsons" is so funny.
I don’t get it please explain
@@LeftWithRightConan wrote the episode
@@fakeplast1c whats the episode about
I always wanted him to do a Part II.
Listening to them talking about the Legend Mel Brooks is really something. Funniest man. His sense of humor is next level and timeless.
As an official French person, born and raised, still there, I can confirm Nick pronounced "Lorraine" and "Alsace" quite well!! Just the "i" in Lorraine is silent, so it's no "lorayne" but just "lorane", basically, but otherwise perfect!
❤️ Mel brooks
I think a lot of veterans develop an extreme sense of humor. Serving in war, and seeing the worst than men can do to one another forces you to create a defense mechanism in your mind. You have to develop some escape method. Otherwise wallowing in the horror of war will eat you alive.
And on that note, don’t forget to tip your waitress…..
Conan: Thank you Hans for being the first caller on Conan Needs a Friend, and I mean ever because this is NOT a call in show.
I always love a good Simpsons reference. 👍
Awesome interview. I've been waiting for history of the world part 2 for years. So excited.
Whenever I see that scene from 'The Graduate' when Dustin Hoffman is driving east across the Golden Gate Bridge on his way to Elaine's wedding, the nerd in me rolls his eyes and thinks: "You can't get to Berkeley from Marin County."
8:45 And we would be very happy to welcome you here as our guests, guys. In the Upper Rhine region. Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland✌👋👋👋
So cool. Humor makes you live longer. AWESOME. Also, I love these interviews because you get to hear the serious side of Conan more and more. Such a wise man. AND HE IS HILARIOUS!!!
Can't wait to see the clip of Conan gesturing how his mouth got washed out with soap
Kurt Vonnegut: the other guy who made comedy from WWII. I can't imagine...
PUT FULL EPISODES ON PLEASE
I remember watching The Graduate at a second run movie theater in Berkeley, and there's a scene where Benjamin drives his sport car across the Bay Bridge and the entire audience shouted "WRONG WAY" at the screen.
I just re-watched Big Mouth, starting up Human Resources again. Love this dude's work.
Don Rickles is also worth mentioning here.
Miss him so very much, I am just going to say it I love insult humor and believe me I love it when I the one receiving it.
Read Mel Brook's 1974 Playboy interview that came out right about the time Young Frankenstein came out and Raisinets were mentioned all the way through it. Mel Brooks -- Keeping 'Raisinets alive for almost 50 years
🤣💕👍 that bit at the end about your High school Conan!! 😄
We need the video for this episode's opening
Meanwhile, that video of Newman and Dean is 🔥🔥🔥
Young Frankenstein and Space Balls are two of my favorites.
I just found the producers for the first time last year and that movie is hilarious the scene on the roof is wild.
Don't be saucy with me, Bernaise!
Dang. That was great. I really enjoyed that clip.
There's something weird that happens in a war zone. You are always a little fatigued and tired (or extremely), and on edge(. The brain can only handle so much of that nonsense so it will make you want to laugh even when there aren't too many reasons to. So I can only imagine that those comedians that served in WW2 probably were huge moral boosts for the people around them.
it's the heavy camo, it does it all the time.
The amount of talent Nick Kroll has is scary to me
yeah, scary hot, like a burglar in an X-rated movie ;)
He'll always be The Douche.
very good episode😂😂😂
"battling evil with comedy" you heard it here first, folks.
The best 😂
OMG the Alsace Lorraine jokes!!
Oh my God comedy and history sign me up!
Da Rhein is not even near the Alsace... pronunciation is key! Love this episode!
But the Rhine IS near Alsace!
These bastards are hilarious
His Hans impression reminded me of the Kroll show guide to cannibalism.
I am your FC from Thailand. I hope, I will see real Conan in my life.
This clip closes on a perfect callback, proving that Conan O'Brien is, indeed, funny.
Congrats Sona on winning the $2 billion powerball. The ticket was sold in Altadena and I know the only way in and out of that small village is by bush plane, and with a pop. of 4, it's pretty easy to guess it was you who bought the ticket!
I never thought that Alsace would make it in a long Conan and Kroll bit 😂 #ehyooo
Instead of watching this a second time, I gestured to my non-existent maître d' and said, "Again."
Nick Knoll, where's the introduction to your vampire crew!
wOw the shoutout to ASPEN COLORADO from NOWHERE
The call is coming from inside the podcast studio.
They film The Righteous Gemstones in and around my city and pretty much every scene is set in a place ive been to or know exactly where its and Conan is exactly right i turn into tbat guy immediately lol. Its actually hard to watch because i cant even pay attention to the show from staring at the background. Theres zero immersion.
Funny call
Start listening at 4:00 minutes. Laughter is the key to longevity.😊
It's less of a secret to longevity and more of a yet-unproven theory. It's known in the medical field that laughter can stimulate a person's immune system and make it more effective against diseases (to what extent is uncertain because it varies from person to person). Also, depression and anxiety, things that comedy and entertainment sort of combat, are known to negatively impact health and in that sort of way, shorten potential lifespan, so in that sense laughter is preventing something that may otherwise shorten your life.
It's difficult to make it a proven fact because to do so, you'd need a lot of with/without data to make an accurate comparison, and because there's always going to be variance (how do you get 2 different lifespans from the exact same guy?), it'll likely remain a maybe. With that being said, at the very least there is some truth to the concept that laughter typically makes you healthier overall (assuming you aren't suffering from something that supercedes it anyway).
@@Yorushima wow, you’re smart. I mean that.
I wish Conan would do a stand up act
A layover in Vietnam. Lmao
Wanda Sykes 🤔
“they’re darker than us!”
Aanoosh! Gamatz
It's good to be the king.
😂😂😂😂
Between Mel Brooks and Monty Python, my teens were a fun fest.
When Conan mentions being in a hotel in Vietnam on his way to go skiing, and how it sorta counted... I thought of a one word joke. (It's not politically correct) Slopes.
I was so happy when they had the aliens build the great pyramid
count the money
Why is it so dark? Can barely see them.
😎
I wish "Hans" had mentioned how many sausages he eats daily and if he follows them up with a cappuccino and cigarette.
How old was Mell Brooks when he was in Germany? He cannot be older then 18/19
I really like this guy,,, it's such a pity that his father is in the mafia
Sometimes I get so used to commenting that I go about trying to comment when I am not supposed to And then I feel super dumb cuzz why is this even a thing
Really.
As someone who lives near the Rijn, pretty spot on jokes. Would love to have you!
How the heck am I one year older than Conan... Yet he looks 10 years older than me ❓
I blame it on the years of "stage" makeup he HAD to wear, all for our amusement

Alsace was great!!! But!!! The riiiiiiiine was bad..... As I'm writing you guys mock me....

My wife is from France and my running joke joke is, if Hitler was better/more successful you would be German.... I'm German and my dad is a US citizen .. so for her I'm not German...
I can't stop laughing
HOTWpt2 was terrible
Chemistry ??? Physic ,, ,, you , you , a bull
market Street , ,, you,,, do,,,
History of The World Part 1 was highly anticipated at the time and a big disappointment. Not many laughs at all. Not even close to being in the league of Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein or even High Anxiety.
History of the world pt 2 is a disgrace to mel brooks legacy and to the legacy of comedy in general
If you vote for democrat again you are beyond Hope
you're like 12 and you don't even live in the US ya doofus
Interesting takeaway here
Sir, this is a Wendy's
Why did you capitalize hope in this sentence? I don't think I'll be taking political advice from you!
Its funny to me that Rs constantly complain about comedians "getting political" but even when the comedians arent being political, the Rs in the comments have to make it political.
