- The novel coronavirus pandemic is the largest global health crisis of the past decades, and China was the first country to be hit by COVID-19. When the lives of 1.4 billion people were put under threat by the virus, China locked down Wuhan, once the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak in the country. But how did the virus spread throughout the city? And what led to the unprecedented lockdown? CGTN launches "The Frontline: China's Fight Against COVID-19", a 90-minute-long two-part documentary. In part one, the initial outbreak and the following two months are explored, and how a city of 11 million came to a standstill.

As a result here in New Zealand we are using that gift to protect not only our citizens but also the citizens of the pacific islands.

@Lon Chan We have our fair share of dumb people. However in New Zealand regardless of politics most people here want to be fair with each other. In Pandemic that means working together, coming up with solutions and making compromises where necessary. Its a big part of our culture.
There is a whole lot more than that. The 5 important scientific research papers published by the Chinese scientists provide the information and knowledge that are crucial and still hold invaluable all the way in since early January this year up to this moment.

How many times did I tear up watching this documentary? A lot. The decisive actions by the government, the system, culture and previous SARS experience all contributed to the success in fight against COVID-19 here. Especially I cannot say highly enough of the people of Wuhan, and medical workers from the city and those pouring in from all over the country. You're the real hero in this fight against the global pandemic and will be forever remembered. On a personal note, Wuhan was the first place my mother worked after college, and I now even more look forward to paying my first visit to the city some day.
I'm moved, I couldn't help with tears in eyes...

The usage of EMCO machines are very expensive and EMCO machines are rarely used in hospitals. Before the pandemic, there were about 1200 EMCOs worldwide, abut 400 in China and only 7 in Wuhan area. As reported on March 18, about 80 EMCO machines were sent to Wuhan for saving people, many of them were new orders from Germany and Japan (China could not make EMCO, but now some Chinese companies are working on it). All the costs were covered by gov.
One of my friends’ grandma was infected Covid-19, she got cured and all the cost including EMCO was free. To be honest the gov is really considering it’s people and doing it’s best as it can.

@@susanray4059 China can now produce EMCO machines locally (with some high end parts still needing to be imported though, based on my understanding - someone is probably working on that too). The great people of this nation has proven time and again over the past 70 years that, collectively, they can almost create miracles on demand out of sheer willpower, diligence and hard work, when push comes to shove.

This documentary was deleted 3 hours after it was posted yesterday. I was trying to post a comment (posted here) and found that I was unable to. After I refreshed the page, the whole uploaded video was already deleted. I don't know what are they afraid of? the truth? If China want to cover up, it won’t upload this video. RUclips constantly deletes pro-China videos. If you don’t know about the meaning of cover-up, go back and check speech given by any western leader in early stage of the pandemic. Everyone of them were really doing cover-up with no exception.
@Dua Kali Lima I bought one together with a fish tank for my daughter last time I went to China. She fed the turtle for 3 months and had to give up reluctantly to her friend next door after learning that it was not allowed on the plane. It's a good way to teach city kids about nature, very popular in China: hatching an egg into a chicklet, growing a tadpole into a frog, raising a caterpillar into a butterfly or a butterfly egg into a silk producing slilkworm,....you name it: many ways for your curious child to learn and love nature, and get interested in science. My daughter did all of the above and more.
I recommend using the CTGN app as well as RUclips.

From my view about this pandemic, the foundamental and primary education play a significant role in the degree of execution of the lockdown order. I live in Wuhan, and usually go working on abroad. My friend is a nurse of Wuhan Jiangxia people' hospital. We live in a same neighborhood. Her son and my daughter are in a same primary school. I clearly felt her fear of the virus. She usually told my wife to pay attention to the protection. But she' was always working in the hospital. Actually,she usually looks a very ordinary person. I’m so proud that Chinese are getting back to normal life after 45 days of lockdown. My mom and dad went back to work at end of February. But me, as an international student in Canada, has to stay at home for nearly 7 months. Look at what we have right now, the second wave is on the way.🙃🙃🙃
