  • Exercise Cobra Warrior - on Tuesday 21st March 2023, at the beginning of the third week of exercises, I made another visit to catch some of the aircraft taking part in the exercise. I was fortunate to see four of the Finnish Air Force F-18s go up again, and film their return, but missed the 'exotic' Indian Air Force Mirage 2000s.
In this video we see four of the Finnish Air Force McDonnell Douglas F-18C Hornets - HN-422, HN-411, HN-424 & HN-438 - that departed Waddington on a sortie around 11.00, as they taxi to Runway 20 and blast off in quick succession. They all made sharp turns to the west, apparently heading for Wales rather than the usual North Sea ranges. If you're quick, you can see a bumble bee zoom by as HN-424 passes! Apologies for the gusts of wind again on the mic - it was a very breezy day - look at the hedge 😎 :)
The aircraft were taking part in Exercise Cobra Warrior - a biannual exercise run by the Royal Air Force designed to exercise participants in high intensity large force tactical training.
