An early talkie that was released in the US about a week after the stock market crash of October 29, 1929, The Racketeer is a love story between a gangster, a socialite and one very drunk violinist. Good story that keeps you interested and although the ending is predictable the story has an intriguing twist to it. This is the type of early talkie I like to watch again and again. ★★★
NEVER had heatd of this before ...hardly recognize Carole Lombard...just loved her...the Men so handsome ...both had evil & good ......great !.. beautiful sets & gowns
Good movie !! The best ending for the characters involved ,nobody went out with a broken heart ,and true love prevailed after all ! (the only sad thing is that Carol Lombard was taken from life far too young, she was good in both serious roles and yet perfect in a screwball comedy) Thanks again BT for this one .
Yes!! She was great...& Horrible what happened to both She and Her Mom...and for the War efforts....I think Clark Gable Her husband at the time ..told Her not to go...🇺🇸😔🙏

👏 👏 👏 👏 Love this oldie too. The Racketeer, what a suitable title. Robert Armstrong (King Kong) carries the picture.

Great film. First I’ve heard of Carole Lombard. Fascinated by her story, but suspicious of the plane crash.
Wasn’t there a sandwich called the Lombard 🥪

This film's star, Robert Armstrong, Karl Denham from "King Kong", was also in several "Perry Mason" episodes decades later.
