  • Great Grey Shrikes are rare visitors to Cornwall and it's been quite a while since I've seen one in the county. This one was found yesterday on the edge of Crowdy Reservoir near Davidstow in North Cornwall and when it was reported as still being there this morning, we decided to pay it a visit. Shrikes are also known as butcher birds and you will see why during the video as the bird catches a small rodent which it likely impaled on a nearby thorn in it's larder to be eaten later. Although the shrike was never really close it was still great to see a very special bird. I hope you enjoy the video.
