Nice gear dude! I collect WWII US Army gear and want to find a reenacting unit near me, but for now I just collect so when the day comes that I do find a unit im not scrambling for gear. Again really nice stuff man!
Wow. You sir, have indeed done a lot of research and put the time into it. You are the first person i have seen to make italian invasion money. Also, comparing what i got to you, im really close to being done too. Right now im just perfecting my impression by replacing any repro stuff or getting new pieces of gear and such. Anyway, its awesome to see 4-5 years of work finally pay off.
The pipe maker is Kaywoodie. You probably didnt mean to do this but it was a pretty common pipe of the time and easily affordable so its a good touch for an enlisted GI
That coat at 10:37 looks like a makinaw(or jeep coat). They were issued to troops who "did not engage in much movement" I.e. Drivers. Here is a little information on the patterns of makinaw.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_clothing_combat_ww2_mackinaw.php
I was looking into the US unit I'm joining (eventually...), and the 60th Infantry was attached to the 1st ID. Also made the landing at Port Luayouty, French Morocco and came ashore on Utah D+3. Most of the reenactments in the Midwest are Normandy Breakout/Ukraine Defense type for both fronts. A few do Pacific Theater or Poland '39; one in my backyard does the Ardennes, it's on Dec 14 but I've only seen local reenactors come, furthest being St. Louis and Chicago areas.
Im pretty sure the net on your late war helmet is the british version of the m44 net, the US version had the elastic band and slightly different weave. Check the back of the net to see if the band was ripped off, if there is no sign of an elastic band that would go around the helmet on it, its a british net
If you want to make the bed roll, I found the US Soldiers Handbook FM 21-100 useful. You should buy a copy off of Ebay. I have one and its loaded with info like whaqt to put in the bedroll and various tactics.
Lol I was just wondering cause you do airborne to but I think I found your unit. I really want to do infantry more than airborne (I just want to collect airborne). I'm in NJ an I'm 15. Would they allow me?
@@thIDthIRreenactor not particularly well. Especially back then at least. Although if you're on the verge of having a stroke perhaps its best you inform a medical professional and not some bloke on RUclips.
Yup! They wore them in Africa, Italy, and Sicily. Then they eventually switched over to the Double Buckle Boots when they went in for the second landing at Anzio and wore them for pretty much the rest of the war.
Great impression! i will post a vid like this when i finish my D-Day 29th ID impression.
A fellow 29 I do 29th too but I'm 14 I'll join when I'm 16

@@thIDthIRreenactor yes I know. But my response was sarcastic, since It would be very strange if poor writing caused a stroke.
