I've watched all three WWII soldier's personal kit videos on this channel. The commonalities across the three different kits is not terribly surprising. All three soldiers were facing similar hardships and privation, and had limited carrying capacity on their persons. Even today, a soldier's personal kit would look very similar. I carried a lot of the same stuff in Iraq and Afghanistan. Different wars in different times, of course. But an Infantryman's basic kit has changed very little.

A camera and film. A wallet with show tickets. A sewing kit he hasn't used, and given the US supply chain a replacement shirt or trousers shouldn't be hard to get. Real handy stuff, huh? What about carrying spare socks? Foot powder? What about a mention of the entrenching tool? A blanket, pancho, or shelter half? The German kit seemed more practical, with mainly a mess kit, shaving kit, spare socks, and spare iron ration.

'And British Money, however that works.' It's really simple, Mate. 240 pence to a pound, also called a sovereign. 20 Bob (shillings) to a pound. A Bob is 12 pence. 24 pence is a 2 Bob Bob bit, 30 pence is half a crown, also called a half dollar. 60 pence, is 5 shillings, also called crown or a dollar. Ten shillings is 120 pence, and is called a half sovereign. Half a shilling (six-pense) is called a tanner, 3 pence is a joey, one pence is a copper, half a penny is a Ha'penny, and 1/4 penny is a farthing. If you are the upstairs type, you use a Gentleman's pound, which is 21 shillings (256 pence).
