Ever since I began to cook I always thought onions sliced in different ways tasted different. Everyone I know thought I was crazy. Thank you Jamie for proving I was right!
the same holds for tomatoes. Believe me, it does. I have been experimenting with it this summer and some cuts are nicer in a tomato salad than other cuts
Everything that you do matters, chopping vs slicing....etc., etc., they all have different tastes and influences! Everything is consequential. I'm so glad you brought that up. Everyone should know and think about that. OMG, I want. Such a beautiful finish. I love this season! Time for rejuvenation! I hope I heal and rejuvenate well this Winter. Onions are so healthy. You are a great cook. I have been following you for a long time. Today I took the first lesson in the intermediate level of the "Face to Face" method of learning English. It is nice that the first lesson talks about you. I am really happy about that.😊
I made French onion soup, but without the bread, cheese and fresh herbs as I didn't have any of these to hand and a bit expensive to buy all. Had oatcakes and grated parmesan cheese with it Added some Brewdog IPA to it. Still, it came out very well and tasted delicious. It's definitely a good one to make.

The alcohol cooks out, you just use the beer to deglaze and for a bit of flavor :) You can use alcohol free beer, and also you can deglaze with water/stock if you really want to avoid beer altogether. I've seen some people suggest apple cider, citrus juices and vinegar as alternatives too.
any liquid except bleach or ammonia. You could use water but why waste the flavor-opportunity to deglaze with a flavorless liquid? Use stock, or a vinegar, or even some fruit juice. Living in the desert as I do, I normally use a chili purée.
No, but it’s not a French onion soup. He never called it that. It’s an onion soup. He can add garlic, but it is still pointless for what he is doing because the garlic is going to be burnt by the time the onions are done.
Not sure if that’s true but even so it’s not like he’s grabbed a piece of A4 from his photocopier, he’s using baking paper which is DESIGNED for cooking.
lol... onion soup) ))take broth and beer)))) so any soup can be called onion soup, bravo! shame on you... although what can you expect from a person who named his son - "body". Next will be "wazzzaaap" ?

That looks beautiful. The simple idea of putting the toast and cheese in the cooking pan rhenin the oven avoids the need for oven proof bowls . Ty .

Beautiful! I’d replace chicken stock with marmite though as I’m veggie.
Marmite might be too strong a flavour - maybe a vegetarian boullion would be better . If you are in U.K. then I’d say Marigold .
Knorr do a vegan chicken stock cube which isnt bad. Marmite will be way to strong
