    Thankyou. Had only been using Q. Now I know to use W D and E plus the audio option is very helpful

    I've been doing it wrong this entire time! wow! thanks for solving my issue, it was a simple W (inserting) that I was having issues with, my timeline magnet was filled up and i wanted to add an additional clip but it would cut out the other clips in the process. You saved my clips lol thank you!! Got yourself a new SUB!!

    is there a way to append a clip that is already on the main timeline?

    • @FinalCutProHelp
      @FinalCutProHelp  3 года назад

      The way I do it is with the clip selected press Shift-F. Shift-F locates and selects the clip in the Browser. Then press E to append the clip. I sometimes do this for multiple clips and it helps to use C to select the clip under the skimmer in the timeline. C + Shift-F + E

    Thanks for making this video. It was unable to help me, as I do not have a timeline strip to drag media. Not sure what is going on with my copy of Final Cut.

    • @FinalCutProHelp

      It is possible to hide the timeline area of the interface. Use Command-0 to reset the layout back to the default. Or go to the Window menu, down to Workspaces and select Default

      @@FinalCutProHelp I was able to get it work, I should have restarted the program before leaving a bunch of desperate comments. I Upon restarting I had the clip there like 20 times from the previous attempts. Thank you!

    I have audio attached as well, how do you make a clip go in between the images rather than through the audio?

    • @FinalCutProHelp
      @FinalCutProHelp  4 года назад

      I don’t think I fully understand the question so please email FinalCutProHelp@AnAwesomeGuide.com with screenshots. If you want to insert a clip in between other clips without moving their audio, you can detach the audio from the video. (Clip-Detach Audio)

    I accidentally pushed a button and now when I try to drag a clip in between two clips, they don’t separate on their own. I have to manually move each clip. Help 🙏🏽😅

      You may have pressed P to activate the Position Tool. Press A to return to the standard Select (Arrow) Tool. If that doesn’t work and you’re able to, email a screenshot to FinalCutProHelp@AnAwesomeGuide.com and I may be able to see what’s causing it

    Thanks! Great video. Clear and concise.
    One question regarding the Connect Edit, specifically what you talk about at 8:05.
    If using b-roll footage (which won't be altered in any way i.e. scaling down in size etc) for a cutaway, what are the benefit of the Connect Edit,
    rather than just adding the footage in the desired position on the Primary Timeline? (Please forgive my ignorance, I'm a complete noob).

    • @FinalCutProHelp
      @FinalCutProHelp  6 лет назад +1

      That's an excellent question.Connecting the B-Roll clip avoids disturbing your A-Roll clip that's already on the Primary storyline. This is most common when working with an interview. The clip that includes the subject being interviewed is placed on the primary storyline. It's then easy to cut away from the interview to connected B-Roll clips. The interview is still available and then the B-Roll is finished, we cut back to the primary storyline to see the interview clip.

      @@FinalCutProHelp Hey, thanks for the prompt reply! Makes sense now! I imagine it's more logical and efficient than having to cut out footage from the primary timeline to insert the b-roll footage in place. Thanks again!

      @@BodaciousWickerman You're welcome! I'll also answer that question and provide some more clarity on working this storylines during the next Final Cut Pro Help Live. Going live this Saturday, subscribe to be notified.

    I do not have a timeline? I'm in my project, can see the clips. But there is no timeline to drag the clip into the start editing. God I hate Final Cut.

      Projects are displayed on the timeline. You are likley viewing those clips in the Browser. To create a new Project, press Command-N. The timeline will display across the bottom. Check out our complete course playlist for more specific steps ruclips.net/p/PLWXaEpVOjp3zMfDZE_WIc6CHjc7SLUxmd
