Back in the day, the P&N railroad used to be one of the most profitable roads in the country. Before SCL bought it, the line ran from Gastonia (with a spur down to Belmont) all the way into uptown Charlotte. It was bought by SCL in the late 60s I think. In any case, the old P&N main was abandoned past Mount Holly by CSX a couple of decades ago, but a short line operator (Patriot Rail) re-opened it under the old name a year or so ago.

Me and My Friend would always Watch and Hear this come by Our house.
Louisiana & Northwest "Patriot Rail" in Homer, La. We see same paint scheme with GP 15's nos. 1404, 1448 and 1456. Also the GP 9's 101 and 102. About 45 miles of short line from Gibsland, La. where it intersects with KCS Meridian Speedway and north to McNeil, Ar. where it intersects with the UP line. Thanks for the video. They look so familiar!!! LOL
Good info! I also found a nice trestle on the CSX line up near Shelby I think, Im planning on spending a day up there soon!

Good Luck, there are very few trains through there, the only scheduled trains are Q696 and Q697 and Q697 runs at night but coal and grain runs through there as needed also
1451 is not a new engine. It is an ex-NPBL brought south by the Chesapeake and Albemarle Railroad
Found the video from watchnu2 on 2-12-12 of the Inaugural Run of the locomotives. At the end of the video, it said that the engines were being kept on the siding at the ethanol facilities at Ranlo,NC for security purposes. I guess you were lucky to get the video. Channel 9 was also there, along with a lot of other people. Sorry you missed it.
I agree. Wife and I were on way back from SC and we jumped over on that road, to try and beat the traffic back up on 85. Came around the corner and there they were :-) Thanks again for viewing :-)
F793 interchanges cars with the P&N just after you pass Clariant/Sodyeco. There's a split rail where CSX's track ends and P&N's begins.
At this point in time I don't know my plans. Will know when get closer to the fourth.
NCDOT owned the right of way for the P&N, and I guess the P&N needed the caboose, so it is on loan from NCDOT to the P&N.
