I remember homes in my neighborhood were selling for $60,000 back in 2011. Now I could probably get $350,000 for mine even with its grimy old kitchen. Strange is the only word I can use to describe this market.
It's kind of nuts. As recently as 2015 you could pick up houses in Lawrenceville for $100K! In North Decatur four years ago, you could buy a fully remodeled 3/2 ranch for $550. Now I am seeing fixer uppers sell for that price. If I was selfish, of course I'd want values to stay high. But I do see the struggles people are going through to get a home, esp first time buyers. It's a real challenge so I do hope prices continue to fall a bit. We are in need of a correction. We may be there now!
@@movingtoatlantagaas someone who’s looking in N Decatur, just below this price point (~$450k) I would very much welcome this correction! Particularly looking for a house hack type with a basement of sorts. I’ve been able to take my time, which has been nice
@@movingtoatlantaga Hope so. I’ll give it another year to see a 15% drop in Atlanta. Even 5% interest rates at these prices mean very little for me. Otherwise I’ll just move to the Midwest or somewhere further out to get my price so I’m lucky I can do that.
If you are open to all areas of North Decatur, and watch the market like a hawk you may be able to find this!

I think it is good news. Atlanta values have stayed strong but there are so many people who need a good home. A price drop would be very welcome right now.
