      According to what I saw, they were. The Catariona line was going to involve Iorveth and the Scoi'atel along with a much larger aspect of the war. It would've likely ended with the decisions that you get in the ending (Nilfgaard wins, North wins w/ Radovid, North wins w/ Dijkstra), just not as sudden and poorly written in. Every other ending scene involves multiple secondary questlines except that one which is basically just one secondary questline that branches off of the Novigrad mages quest line.

    On Deathmarch difficulty level, it is almost hard to keep Vas alive during her quest.

      That or a general spawn npc command broke, ves was the backup the system defaulted to and kept spawning her because she was in the previous scene. Either that or a spawn ves exclusion script broke and allowed her to be included. Likely something along those lines if not exact.

    • @Sorann14
      @Sorann14 2 года назад +17

      I know that I'm extremely late with this comment, but I figured I'd say something anyway because I haven't seen anyone else do so. Your speculation that it broke in one of the patches might totally be correct. I say this because I vaguely remember doing the Reason of State quest with Ves dead during a very early playthrough of the game. By early, I mean all the way back before Hearts of Stone had even come out. I remember Ves being absent entirely during those scenes. Now, I could just be misremembering, but assuming I'm not, that would indicate one of the patches did indeed put her back in by accident even when she shouldn't be there.

    It was mentioned by CDPR that Ves' quest (Eye for an Eye) is one of the remaining remnants from the removed Iorveth/plague questline, which was supposedly a huge one. It would make sense that Reasons of State was tied to this in some way and likely quickly shuffled to a different spot. This would likely account for Geralt's line about Ciri.
    But, whether they forgot to include the correct "no-Ves" scenes, accidentally removed the trigger (a la Thaler's spectacles dialog), or just plain didn't have time to thoroughly QC/update the scenes who knows.

Then, I did the quest with Ciri in which you go to the camp; during the race I found Ves and Roche walking in the forest portion of the race. A little late (But video randomly picked up in the feed): But this attitude, of not just accepting information at face value - and validating sources, is necessary. In this day and age, where mainstream media is happy to blindly copy paste information from twitter, blog sites, and more - it's rather difficult to be certain how true any information is.
      With the growth of AI generative tools - when combined with a bit of photo-shop work for clean up, it's feasible to make basically any image you want in absolutely absurdly small amounts of time. And this brings us to a bit of a truth: In person, with first hand sources are kind of essential these days, and more than ever we are getting to a point where active participation may actually require us to go back to physically travelling to places in order to validate we aren't being hoodwinked.

    3:33 I don't know what was up with my recent game, but in it, Ves was actually hard to save. I'd reload multiple times from the hanged man's tree, and from when Ves' health bar appeared to when I got there to help her, she usually already had most of her health depleted, and every time either she died, or I risked too much of my own health in order to kill the black ones ASAP and got killed myself. It was way harder than any other quests I've done in this playthrough where people have health bars, like Lord of Undvik or the two Skelligers that want to explore a cave full of Rotfiends and Ghouls.

    When you said that replacing one word "Ves" with "someone" is going to be very important later, along with hearing the tone of Roche's voice, I thought to myself: "Oh my god. That somebody is going to be Roche himself, and he's going to shoot Geralt as a revenge for letting Ves die..."
    And then the actual change was... disappointing compared to this.

    Great video! I think it´s as harder to let Ves die as Lambert in the battle of Kaer Morhen, so you´re probably the first player to find that ending.
    One question, is it possible remove Radovid from power and just then let Keira go to Novigrad (Where she gives the medical recipe to radovid and dies impaled)? Maybe a secret cutsene Geralt tells her Radovid is dead? Or maybe you can find her in novigrad in Dandelion´s bar?

    • @tailsofpearls
      @tailsofpearls 2 года назад +9

      I dont think so because the choice to let Keira go to novigrad is in act 1 and I think the quest fails once you sail to the isle to find ciri while reasons of state is in act 3. But maybe? 🤔

    Nice video! What I however find the most interesting is, that you said that in order to get the Reason of State quest you need to do the Redania's Most Wanted quest except the last part. I however never did that. In my two playthroughs I always just got the quest but I have never even found the hideout or did anything else at all but I still got the Reason of State quest.

    Design wise, it was probably easier to cut references to audio files and change dialogue references than it was to remove her model from the scenes (likely, it would have required a re-render), and that got left behind on a to-do list somewhere.

    Stop calling Roche per "Roach"
    his name sounds originally as "Rosh"
    I'm Polish and I know how it's natively pronounced from CD Projekt RED themselves. Trust me - it was an English DUBBING MISTAKE (which is pretty major, considering that Roach is Geralt's horse. xD

    Bro, I've watched most of your videos these days, and I love how people who are passionate about this game continue to bring out the deepest secrets and details of all the work the developers put in, even years later.
    I've been following XLetalis among others for a long time and the fact that another passionate guy can start a new channel and still get stuff out of the game makes me love it even more.
    I love your videos, I think they are all amazingly done, probably if you make a 40 minute long one I will still enjoy it like a baby. It shows the amount of work you put into your videos, in-game hours, editing and narrative, congratulations on the progress you've made so far and good luck on the road ahead.
