- I am blown away. You will be too. These smart fans from Dreo have actual smart features you'll use and will love and they're very high quality. I've been impressed, and while there are a few things not everyone will love, these will probably fit your smart home really well.
Even if you're not a smart home person, this is going to fit your life. That's because it's a great fan first, and a great smart home device second.
You'll see what I mean as we walk through both the Dreo fans today. Here are the links for them:

(PS. You might notice the names are slightly different than I stated in the video, Dreo has changed the names a little online, so just make sure you're buying the one's with WiFi and voice assistant support)

Got this for my office as I can't install a ceiling fan. Your review was spot on. I never thought I would fall in love with a fan. It is great and totally worth the extra money.
So many people coming to tell me something just like this. Enjoy!
Brian -- I just have to tell you I received my Dreo today and I love it!!! It was so easy to set up and connect to Alexa. The breeze that comes out of it is amazing and it definitely is going to replace my Dyson. Thanks for telling me about it.
Oh I'm sooo happy! It's always a bit nerve wracking when I recommend something because...you just never know how it's going to go for everyone. I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I know I am!
I have been super picky about getting electronics for our new house and had been looking for a portable fan for our study/dining area for A YEAR! I’ve been deliberating between a Dyson fan or a vornado but they both have their limitations and design flaws. When I saw Dreo I knew immediately this was exactly what I was looking for! Ordered one immediately! Thanks for your review!
Enjoy it soooo much!
I was in the market for one of these fans I came across this video and now I'm subscribed to your channel wonderful information.
Awesome! Thank you!
I’m glad they invested time into building an actually great-quality app for the smart controls.
Actually, I wish there were more reviews of Smart Home appliances beyond lights, sensors, and switches. Many IOT devices complete the home but I want to know the good ones.
I have a smart air fryer, Eufy Robovac and a Govee Tower Fan. I'm in the market for more affordable smart devices that replace their dumb equivalents.
Unfortunately, Dreo and many others don't have their full range out of the USA.
I look forward to more of your reviews about smart appliances.
Keep up the good work 👍🏿
Thanks so much! I'm trying to find more of those types of devices too!
Same
I am not very techy but do enjoy some smart devices that make life easier but also am poor so I can't waste money on crap that don't work as promised. So I watch a ton of actual reviews and unboxing so I know before purchases
I just got one and I absolutely love it. I plan on getting another one. It puts out way more air than any of my tower fans.
Great video!
Great to hear!
Yes, this video hit the mark for me. Usually sponsor videos do not, but your taste is impeccable so keep it up.
I'll try! Thanks so much!
Look how many Dreo fan videos are out there now. When you see everybody making one...its because everyone is being paid to make a video about it.
Yours has been the very best out of the many RUclips videos I have seen as you emphasize practical use info rather than the guy who sights engineering aspects. Oh darn you have now enticed me to view the pedistal version now. But Thanks for your presentation that is now exciting me.
Wow, thanks! Enjoy them so much. They are honestly still some of the very best. :)
As a Mississippi Gulf Coast resident I AM ABSOLUTELY INTERESTED IN FANS!!!! the heat here is Satan's playground. Our AC units and ceiling fans can't keep up. I had never heard of a vornado fan until I went out of town to a n expensive air BNB in Ga. I turned it cuz I forgot our sleep fan and was literally blown away as well. I have not yet found a similar fan to it andi have been looking for ten years. I accidentally came across this video and I am definitely going to be saving for it.
Great post! Enjoy it when you get there!
This is an amazing fan that I see being the only one I could ever want. Thanks so much for introducing us to this through another of your excellent presentations.
Oh thank you! Honestly...they're amazing!
@@AutomateYourLife The only feature I could imagine adding is a "tip over shut off" after seeing a fan get tangled up in a window blind cord that seized up the motor while I wasn't home. There could have easily been a fire. I share this concern with any motorized device that might be running in an unattended area. I also tie off window blind cords too, lol.
Being a widower with a pair of kittens for the first time, I need to prepare for all sorts of contingencies and potential eventualities, lol.
@@MakeitZUPER you know...I feel like it did do that shutoff
@@MakeitZUPER but cats...man!!!🤣
@@AutomateYourLife I bought a house on a mountain that's very secluded and surrounded by wildlife. I thought it would be good to have a pair of them to deal with any rodents and snakes, etc. The house was built in 1860 and needs a ton of work so until I can get the structural work done and seal up the building, I got cats, lol. They earn their place in my home.
I was on the fence about getting one. After watching this video, I was sold. Just made my purchase through Amazon. Great Video
Hope you enjoy it! I'm still loving them!
Great review. I purchased the Dreo Tower fan I'm impressed by the build quality and very quiet operation. The Alexa capabilities are excellent.
Totally agree! It's a great one. Enjoy Frank!
Well...
There goes any chance I had of saying you're just a bunch of hot air....😂😜🍻
$100 really sounds like a steal. I was expecting 3x that much.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, sir.
Thank you Mark!
Me too when I was gonna buy a vornado I seen at the time it was like 399.99. but I could never find the medium one I wanted
Bro, a smart fan review during the heat of summer. Perfect timing! 👍☺️
Yeah hey! That timed out so well!
Seriously, I might buy one of these. Thanks for reviewing
I've loved every second of having these. Enjoy if you get one, and enjoy if you don't!
I just received mine and I could not be happier. It is so easy to set up and connect. If you don't want to use it with Alexa, it has a remote. I love it!
I was already convinced that I wanted to purchase the 16 inch in gold, but I needed to watch this review to actually see it in a realistic environment instead of like stock photographs.
Amazing review! I sleep better with fan noise and I love automation. This is perfect.
They are wonderful! Enjoy!
20$ fans don't cut it for my bedroom. Even 80$ fans Wear out and start to rattle after a few years of use. I enjoy the double oscillation of this fan. I am also allergic to window or movable air-conditioners. So this fan truly hits the mark for me. And I can turn it off by saying turn off the bedroom fan. Then I will have a free plug to automate something else.😎
Awesome! I'm glad this fits your needs! Enjoy!
A good choice, with the excessive heat these days! Thanks, Brian.
Thanks big bear! It's definitely a great addition right now
Thanks. Great review. Automating the fan to temperature is very intriguing.
Thanks Ed! And I really enjoy that too!
Great video. I really like this fan, I have the tabletop version. I like how it oscillates back and forth and up and down The only thing that would make this fan even better is for the front grill of the fan to rotate around pushing the air in multiple directions at the same time.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing!
Based on your review, I bought the floor fan and love it in Tucson’s slightly warm summer.
I'm so happy you're enjoying it Mike! I hope it serves you for years to come!
And here I thought I was your favorite fan! (sorry for that)
Ohhhh that's a decent joke!🤣
@@AutomateYourLifeI was blown away by his comment.
You guys spin me right round, baby...right...round.
Too much?
Always good to know what is out there, I’ll keep it in mind
Cheers!
Fans and Air circulators don't lower the temperature of the air they're moving they just move it, it's convection and evaporation that makes us feel cooler when we use these devices.
Agreed
Good review - nice too see this along side more traditional home automation content! I have an old-school hunter floor fan connected to a WeMo plug, which works great but this gives it a run for its money
That's a good setup for sure!
@@AutomateYourLife what I like the most about the WeMo plugs if you can set automations like I do “if I turn this on between midnight and 6 AM. Run it for 15 minutes then turn it off. “This means it doesn’t run all night and of course I can invoke this from Alexa which is awesome.
I bought the tall one from your review. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy it!
Smart fans can be a little more exciting than what you may think. It's amazing how many uses a smart fan can have as part of an automated home. Some clever sole has even written a custom driver for these in Home Assistant.
Ooooh do tell!
@@AutomateYourLife I have a couple of fans that are multi speed, but dumb fans. Sometimes it would be nice to have them automated. Such an example may be if the temperature is up a bit, but not enough to have a AirCon running, so to have the fan circulate air automatically, rather than me have ot get up and turn it on would be useful :). When a fan can move around like these ones do, they can really move the air around the entire room and help the room feel fresher by moving the air, especially at times when you may have windows closed.
@@EsotericArctos yeah you're totally right and how I've ended up using these. A little before the Aircon and then sometimes to circulate that air out further. Love it sir
The only point I found usefull using a smartfan. Was having the automation side control fan speed, depending on temp. Other than that use, its automation side really isnt used except to command it on or off by a voice assistant. I dont understand how it can have many uses?? Its a fan, it blows air and when it gets too hot, you turn on the ac.
Hi! Would love to know can the table fan be used when I put in on a floor? Love the looking of the table fan more hahaha
You could sure. It has a wide base
Reminds me of the Stadler Fan that I have which sounds like a quiet turbo engine and has up/down and horizontal rotation. Stadler doesn’t have smart tech so I use an IR blaster.
I’m surprised by the little amount of smart integration by fan companies.
Exactly! This is an anomaly in a world of fans that should/could be smart!
Thanks for the video. Now I have to buy because of the features you described
Enjoy them so much!
I'm impressed! I like the customizable performance. But, is it wifi only? No Bluetooth options? And, what are the specs on the electric motors?
No direct Bluetooth, sorry. Specs on the electric motors were provided as we had them. Watch for the titles, but sorry...there's not a full breakdown of Motor sizing, etc.
Been looking for a good standing fan! Thanks B!
Enjoy! I sure have!
Those are pretty cool. Thanks for the info. I can think of a few ways I could use them, even more if they implemented your suggestions.
Thanks for watching!
@@AutomateYourLife you’re very welcome. I love your videos.
Always a great video. No Matter? I'll stick to a $10 smart plug on a $20 fan from Wal-mart.
No Matter!
In love my dreo pedestals. But when you plug 2 smart devices in series turning the first on WILL NOT NECESSARILY RESUME normal function of the second.
Hey Cherry, are you using an automation in Dreo's app to do this?
I use a fan to drown out noise. If a fan manufacturer realized that people actually like a fan that sounds like a fan, they would figure out how to do it. I wouldn't buy it because it's too quiet.
@@justsayin3600I need a quiet fan
First video I’ve seen where the tall fan is described as more powerful than the tabletop fan. Usually reviews say the reverse.
Also, how should one clean their fan? Is it difficult to take apart for cleaning?
Nope! Little screwdriver to the bottom of the fans.
Also, I think most reviewers are looking at RPM and feeling the velocity of the tall fan. It's moving less air though :)
how good are these at shifting air and keeping a room cool? I can't get that desk fan here in the UK sadly but went for the standing one. However I went for the 502S rather than the 513s as the 502s can tilt vertically 120 degrees. The 513s can move more air and go a bit faster though. I'd say it's still comparable though. The desk fan can move 343 CFM and the 502s can move 715 CFM. How do the two fans you reviewed compare as the 513s can do like 817 CFM. Is it a noticeable difference between the standing fan and the desk fan?
There's not a big noticeable difference from the two. You will notice the desk version pumps out more.
But overall CFM and air movement is wildly good. Across any room I've ever put them in.
I bought the tall one because of this video
Enjoy it! They're SO great. :)
Great review. I have two 2 identical Dreo desk fans in one large room. How can I differentiate between them on the Dreo app. Can they be labeled 1 & 2 for example. Please help. Cheers.
There's a device settings in the app on the page for the device, so go in and rename 😃
Great video -- thanks! One question -- does it come apart for cleaning? I see a couple of screwheads and I was just wondering if I could take the fan apart to clean the blades. Thanks for any info you can provide. Again, excellent video!
Yep! You can take off and adjust the blades and clean them with a little included screw driver. Good question!
@@AutomateYourLife Thank you!! And thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
I just wanted to let you know I went through your link and ordered the fan on the stand. It is supposed to be here on Tuesday -- just in time for the upcoming heatwave here in Philly. Take good care and I forgot to say -- I love all your videos. They are always extremely informative.
@@3dlovely thank you so much for doing all that and saying that! I love when people find value in what we're doing
Between the pedestal version and the other one which one would you pick. Which one is more powerful
The table version is more powerful than the pedestal. :)
Love ur video ! I also have a question so I have a music studio do you think is good as farest been quiet while I mix or create?
They're pretty quiet at low speeds! Good range too. I think you'd be ok but it'll depend on how quiet you need it!
@@AutomateYourLife well I mean u had it next to u while you were talking and I didn’t not hear a sound lol but as longest it doesn’t make a electrical buzz sound and you can talk over it. I think it should be fine. Look at lots of reviews on fans and by far yours is the best so thank you for that honestly ‼️⚡️👏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks Brian.
Thank you Ron!
I really don't care about smart features this fan have, I would like to know how much blowing power have !?
Would it work in room size 5m x 4m, and is it better than some other industrial pedestal fans!?
5m x 4m is pretty big, but this blows quite far. It's no industrial fan though
I’ve been on the Dreo website but I see no portable rechargeable fans is this one ? I didn’t notice any cord coming from it in the video.
No these are not sorry
Do they have one that’s batter operated. Where you can charge it. Than just use it without it staying in an plug outlet
Not that I've seen. I did see SwitchBot just released one though
Is the lowest setting quiet
So quiet. Amazing actually
I picked up the pedestal fan and it's a great fan, however not all of the Alexa commands work for me. Alexa will change the speed when asked but when I ask to turn the fan on, or off Alexa says it's not supported. Strange it would support some commands and not others. I've removed the skill and reinstalled it, but I got the same results. Still, it's a great fan and I'll be keeping it regardless.
That’s odd. Sounds like a bug in a moment. Just try again in a bit!
@@AutomateYourLife I discovered that after ran the oscillation calibration that appears in the apps remote control screen, it responded to all Alexa voice commands.
I appreciate your channel, I wouldn’t have know about this product without your review.
being in UKay i cannot buy this due to warranty limitations :(

How does this compare with Vornado Air Circulator? Dreo looks nicer, but I also just want something reliable and long-lasting
I've actually never had one to be able to compare the two, but it's been well over a year since I got the first set of these and they haven't had a single issue nor have they changed how they sound and work
There is a review on yt a guy does a dreo va vornado and dreo is better
Sold. We'll see how they pan out in Singaporean weather!
Enjoy!!
Interesting fans and a good review, Brian. I wonder how the IR blaster in the Aqara M2 hub would work with these. I know that wouldn't directly expose the IR functions to Homekit, but I think you could use Siri Shortcuts and Aqara to maybe do something interesting. The Dreo folks are going to keep you cool while you use their cooker to air fry a moose or some other Canadian critter!
Oh you're absolutely right about that IR blaster working from a few hubs! Gotta love that idea Hugh!
I got a similar smart fan, and added it to SmartLife rather than the appliances own branded app. From there Broadlink IR blaster can control it fully, so when i say to Alexa to "turn the bedroom on" the TV, Aircon, Fan, Purifier, Oil Burner, bedside lamps all come on.
you can use homebridge to add dreo fans to homekit. works well.
Sooooooooo… how does one SIMPLY on/off depending on its built in thermometer? Also, what’s the difference between all the poly fan models? I’ve tried various automations but real life use needs dedicated separate on / off REMOTE buttons instead of one power button. If I manually turn it on before the automation… it therefore “powers” it to off when it gets to it’s set temperature….
You'd use Google or Amazon in this case I think. They don't have an "automation" tab that does this.
You could also use any IR blaster around the fans
@@AutomateYourLife but if you manually need to turn it on early, then the temp presettings/automation for the IR blaster will override what you did. Since it’s only 1 power button… no on and a separate off button.
@@AutomateYourLife yes I have an automation going through IFTTT with SwitchBot hub IR blaster to turn on when Govee air quality becomes poor. But IFTTT works for a few weeks then fails for a couple months
Are any of these 2 suitable for wall mounting?
I don't believe so
Able to adjust the fan if your on holiday via app?
Yep
I love this fan but for the life of me, I can not get the front and back panels off so I can wash it. They will not move. Can anyone help? Thank you.
There's a screw you have to undo on each frame
The smart gimmicks don’t appeal at all, they don’t seem very smart. I’ll just take one with a standard remote and save the extra money. Good fans though, I like that they give you the choice for regular vs smart fans.
Thanks!
Oh thank you!
Which fan blows the strongest?
Short gold one
The wobbling on the table model makes it seem cheap. They need a heavier base.
That's me on my desk, not the fan :)
Brian, Is Vedge Creator V2.9 dead? A lot of my Virtual switches went dead or dumb. When I try to recreate an Alexa switch, it says "A network or server error occurred. Try again later." How do I add virtual Alexa switches back in these days??

I don't remember 100%. We usually take measurements of sound on fans from 1 meter out

To me, the only thing missing from this would be a hepa filter. Put one of those in it and it would be perfect

Interesting subject. I have a 180cm tower fan that uses smartlife. Cost me $40 usd on special, from Kmart. Mine also has an ioniser and takes up alot less space. The motors are high quality? How would you know? Its obvious you know nothing about fans, because you didnt mention the most important fan part - Bearings. For those prices it better have ball bearings, but I doubt it. If it has sleeve bearings, this fan will quickly become a noisy throwaway if used often imo.
Nasty. Who sh** in your cornflakes?
I'm not gonna go through my whole career for ya, but I've dealt with motors the size of some very large turds.
Ioniser too???...LOL. Put this fan next to yours, then you will figure out what quality looks like, and you won't even have to take it apart to see what's inside!!
How much does it cost to run monthly
