Why isn't there more angel investing, VC, private equity, debt offerings, IPOs and additional public offerings from Kenya?
Rwanda is a little better than you describe it in my view.
Why has Ethiopia not done as well as expected?

Great to see more local, legit and investment ready African projects being promoted to more of the mainstream online.
The problem with trying to pitch such an investment project to non-Kenyans lies in the red tape and restrictions relating to customs, immigration and foreign ownership in Kenya. Dealing with that stuff is a big headache, so it's only the larger, corporate players with enough in-house resources that end up seriously pursuing such opportunities.
The rules in themselves are also all over the place, which makes it hard for people outside of the continent to take Africa seriously when it comes to investment, esp when Asia makes it so much easier for us in almost every way.

You are correct. it seems like the "merss" is needless and borne out of various levels of ineptitude and nonchalance.

True. Bureaucracy is a major challenge for Africa. However, for this specific project they tried to make it easier with a one stop facility where you will get all required approvals under one room. A Konza bill is also awaiting approval after tabling that regulates everything around the city hence more transparency. As for foreign ownership and restrictions, they do that to protect local businesses by giving at least 49% local stake in most corporations. Why? Because that's how the world treats Africans trying to buy shares abroad too!
As for Konza, you can get short to long term leases ( 24-99yrs) depending on the type of business. No freehold ownership! I believe that's how the world works anyway, Asia included.

Shut up! You are the reason why investors run away from this country denying the continent much needed foreign inflows. Go to the field to confirm before you bring fallacies here!

What's the ease of investment for an individual investor? What's the process?
