"He couldn't wait to get out and have a normal life." Prompts me to say: I got injured during my SEAL training or Bud/s and did not become a Navy SEAL as a result. For me it felt like being a Navy SEAL would've been the best life ever. However, I had since discovered after keeping in contact with guys who've become SEALs that I'd rather come home everyday and have all my weekends spent at home than to be deployed a lot, or away from home a lot for training, and possibly losing my life in the midst of it all. To I realized I only valued the prospect of being a Navy SEAL when I hadn't yet fully matured into my own person of what I truly wanted out of life. I have respect for everyone who's a Navy SEAL. They sacrifice a lot of their time. I believe you have to feel that something huge is missing in your life, and such is making you feel that life is boring, in order to want to be a SEAL. I just wanna say from a non American, thank you for your service and sacrifice. Cindy I understand somewhat of what you are saying. I was with A Co. 3rd. 503rd. 173rd, which doesn't mean anything to you, but "B" company was near my outfit and one of their platoons took 14 KIA's and 11 WIA's in 20 minutes. One of the troopers in that platoon was married, 19 years of age, his wife was six months pregnant, he was among the KIA's. War is hell and it leaves hellish memories for those of us who survive and for those who are survived by the ones who didn't make it. Only God knows why...
Just named our third chesipeke bay retriever after Matt because he is my best friend and so loyal he will fight to the death to protect me and my family thank you all for your service military are the greatest
Very sad but at a point you have to put the pictures away and go on with life. Loss of someone we love is devastating but after a few years if you don't move on you never will and your life will never be what they would have wanted it to be for you. I hope she has done this. We will never forget them, but to have the reminders around is to live in a moment that will never change. The years will go by and suddenly all you could have been...all you could have done...is gone.
Due to the editing you are left with many questions. Marcus is the only remaining person alive from that situation. His initial remembrance of the fight may not be as clear as time went on he remembered thigns differently or more details. I am left with only one question if she blames Marcus for the outcome. Bottom line is the four of them were out numbered, in a bad position and far from support. They all fought bravely. I am sure over time Marcus has remembered things in more details. But that does not bring back the 3 who died. I think the intro was a bit ghetto..
Yeah the intro was terrible... I have way more than one question though... Why does absolutely nothing makes sense. Why is there so much information refuting his account of the things that happened.. why is there literally zero evidence of anything that he said being true...it's very disappointing
@@asphalt-cowboy9479 Because it most likely isn't true, truth could be they were trying to get out of there, ditched their heavy equipment to move faster n one by one they each got wounded but in the chaos lost each other but kept going, not sticking around... Then he was blown off a ridge, into a blind spot n he stayed there until the shooting stopped. It's not very heroic nor does it make good reading or reflect positively on Marcus. Something similar happened in Iraq 1991, SAS patrol Bravo Two Zero, patrol was discovered, fought n killed 200 Iraqi soldiers, members in the patrol were killed, the rest except one was captured by the border while Chris Ryan walked it to Syria... Their claims were bullshit, they got caught by 3 Bedouin, the LZ was on their land, a mile from their home, they were heard flying in...the Bedouin were driving their bulldozer into a dry riverbed so the petrol wouldn't freeze on the high surface with the winter winds, they drive right into the SAS LUP... SAS ditched their LUP, radio codes were wrong n had no contact with anyone, they weren't dressed for winter and maps were wrong (Arial maps they studied were upside down) they ended up shooting at the Bedouin and the patrol split into two groups during a storm at night... Two froze, one was killed by Iraqi police at the border. Even Chris Ryan claimed he killed more soldiers on his own... It was all proven bullshit by SAS operatives who were debriefed by the survivors, who said... They told us none of that... In Iraq, they still had their equipment n they spoke to witnesses and even the police chief, they panicked. Three members wrote books, all their accounts are different... In Andy Mcnabs book, the bulldozer is an APC with infantry, which they destroy n kill, while the other two say a bulldozer. Not judging these guys, they are 10 times the person each of us are but if something doesn't add up, something is being hidden... Usually the truth.
@@bc8359 yeah very well said man. Idt I've ever heard of the incident you're talking about but I'm deffinetly gonna look into it. My problem is that when people hear Marcus's story it digs up emotions that you didn't know you even had. I was soo inspired by his story and when I found out all of the controversy around it and the fact that it could all be bullshit it kinda messed me up a little bit. Most of the evidence points to him turning around and hauling ass, leaving his 3 "brothers" there to die and I hate that that's a possibility based on the things he said he did. I just wish there was a way for all of us to know exactly what happened w.o embellishment or fabricated information.. if there was only 8-12 enemies why isnt that good enough? Idk it's just something that's gonna bother me for much longer than it should.
@@asphalt-cowboy9479 Bravo Two Zero is famous, films about it... Local BBC funded, nothing blockbuster about them... Including the documentary by an SAS man who exposes it all as fabrication. Another common theme with these two incidents, which Bravo Two Zero claimed also, goat herders and being compromised by a shepherd boy. There's also Taliban video celebrating the captured seal equipment... None of it is damaged, I read Lone Survivor, no way that equipment was ripped off them during a fall or worn when they died... Small long range recon patrols are taught to get the fuck out of a contact, means run... Personally I don't believe there were 200 surrounding them... Those Afghans know their land... The video with the equipment, seems like a small force... As Marcus said in one interview... "We didn't know they were there until they were on top of us", he said that to the Rangers when they arrived at the village, they were only a few and in bits with the heat n terrain they just searched. I'm guessing they walked into Taliban dug in extremely well and he won't admit to that, same with the downed Chinook... The aircraft after the crash n the QRF rangers were saying... We can't see their defenses until we were literally on top of them but no sign of 200 Taliban or their dead. Maybe the odd shot fired from ridges in the distance. Two Taliban did try n barter for Marcus at the village but their custom protected them... If a force of 200 were there... They'd have overrun the village n took him... It all sounds too far fetched n it's a bitter pill to swallow that on that day, the Taliban positions were extremely well manned. Same with Chris Kyle... All his claims have been proven fabricated too, all fabrication to sell books but like I said before, these are men apart and above us all. Who am I to point the finger at men of such caliber... Just the truth being exaggerated to sell books or cover up embarrassments.
@@asphalt-cowboy9479 Operation Red Wings- Lone Survivor- Ambush Footage 2005. You can hear the seals yelling... It's 17mins long, the amount of gunfire isn't from a force of 200. I just had to look it up as I definitely remember seeing it on RUclips
The story isn't lies. The movie takes some license. Yes. But, as far as Marcus' memories, it's REAL easy to understand how the events change or new details come back over time. 99.9% will NEVER know the unimaginable stress, tension and adrenaline of a situation like that. It distorts memory. It can jumble the chain of events. If PTSD is involved, that compounds the problem. I don't believe for one second that Marcus ran. Nonsense. Only someone who has never been through the teams would make such a claim. It doesn't happen. I don't think anyone will ever know EXACTLY how things went down. Marcus has the best perspective, but it cannot be 100% accurate because of what he went through. Hell, ask 4 people who see a car accident tell you what happened and you'll get 4 different stories. There's no conspiracy here. I hope Cindy has found happiness and peace.
Pete Venkman exactly, remembering an event like that isn't as easy as everyone seems to think. A lot of physiological changes happen to your mind and body when you are fighting for your life. A perfect play by play memory is completely unrealistic
I don't know man I look up to this dude a lot and do not want any of of this to be true but the amount of evidence refuting his claims and his recollection of the events and what he allegedly experienced is just amazing... Even the man that saved him says that his account of things that happened isn't true a big problem that I have personally is how do you get into a gun fight that lasted so long and still have 11 fully loaded magazines on your chest rig. how do you describe your injuries the way that he did only to find out that the medical report of his injuries contradicts everything that he said... this whole situation is terrible. I don't want to believe that he was a liar.. I honestly don't, but all of the information that isn't coming from him is telling me that he is...
May he rest in peace with all his brothers and sisters in arms. My condolences to this lady for the loss of her dear husband. Their sacrifices were for the betterment of lives of humanity. It does not matter what happened to Afghanistan after 20 years and that Taliban are back in power. The freedom these men and women brought for the people of Afghanistan, will forever be remembered by the children who lived and experienced it during the years US, Canadian, British, etc. forces were present in Afghanistan. That will be the spark for their future fight against religious extremism, and it will have long-term and positive effects that cannot be understood and foreseen in just a few years. They sowed the seeds of freedom in that land, and it will grow slowly but surely, as long as the Earth is still here, and the upcoming WWIII won't destroy us all.
Matt Axelson was a courageous who valiantly defended the Constitution of the United States of America and the liberties we cherish and our way of life. What the hell kind of comments are these? You guys can't even make complete sentences- what do ANY of you even know about being a soldier, or being shot at or real life warfare? Go back to playing your Call of Duty games
The problem is that no one knows but Marcus... even investigations have flaws so a lot of the stories have to be on assumptions and Marcus was on adrenaline the whole time not to mention how many times he must have fallen down the steep revines bumping his head along... in a fire fight 40 to 50 can seem like 100 to 200, the question i have was what was the official body count of the taliban.
I too recently read that the other dead bodies found were zero. If I'm not mistaken, the official military report states they found zero, and Gulab also reports the taliban said none of theirs were killed. Gulab also says that when he undressed Marcus, he had 11 full mags on him - which was the number of mags he left with. He also said that the taliban heard the helo when it dropped them off, and they'd already tracked them and been watching them the whole time. It's very interesting and wouldn't be the first time the military turned a shit storm into a hero story as military propaganda.
The whole OP was a total fuck up from the beginning. A Recon buddy of mine I went to Scout Sniper school with was actually part of 2/3 Recon that had planned Red Wings. They originally planned to have a full Recon Team (6 guys) for Phase I of the OP. These guys fucking specialize in Deep Reconnaissance Ops, it is literally what they are meant for and the basis of Force Recon training but fucking SOF command would only let SOAR be a part of Red Wings if the SEALs were handed over Phase I of the Op. I also recall the Recon Team were recommending they hump there way to village but the SEALs just ignored them. SOF hierarchy has always shat on Force Recon and I can't help but feel like this could've been avoided if they just Ricky Recon do his fucking job. At least those marines got to avenge Team 10 in Operation Whalers and fucking slaughtered Shah's whole militia.
I’ve read the book and is far better than the movie. I wouldn’t rule out the notion of his death being elaborated into a diversion, for his more needed involvement in a top secret government mission. Without seeing an actual body... we may never know the truth.

Sad to say, whichever guy ends up with her, will be walking in the shadow of Matt, dealing with photos, reminders, and being judged. Not a life I would want when she states she’s moving on. When you’re married to a Warrior, and a recognized public figure now. It’s hard to fill those shoes. Hopefully she made some money off the tragic incident and don’t sabotage her love life if involved today.
I’m starting to dig into this lone survivor story and I’m coming up with so many unanswered questions, I’d love to chat with you about this maybe you can help answer some questions?
I'm going to go out on a limb here and I myself have been in combat and have been shot multiple times and survived I have shot and killed enemy combatants and let me tell you something you remember every last detail as ta what you just survived lutrells story about these seals and there deaths and also the number of enemy they killed has changed so many times it puts doubt into my mind that he was even there look at the autopsy on Danny, mike, and axel, they were shot multiple times. basically ripped to pieces. lutrell never shot once the bullethole he said he sustained in his calf was actually caused from being impaled by a tree branch his pants supposedly got blown to shreds due to rpg blast? were found completely intact in the village he supposedly used up all his ammo in the firefight? man that rescued him, said he had 11 full magazines in his ammo vest forgive me for saying this he jetted on them I said it he was scared he panicked an he ran I don't blame him for his emotions because I've been there I blame him for his actions you never leave a brother behind you die fighting there should not have been no lone Survivor because in my world, to my fellow brothers in arms if you go- I go
@K.M. Smith I don't find what you said to be totally unbelievable but Chris Kyle was undoubtedly a compulsive liar and his lies weren't even based in reality. e just said outlandish shit because he thought it made him sound cool... I know more people than I would like to that do those types of things and I am fairly good at spotting them... Unfortunately I kind of doubt my judgment now because I never got that feeling about Marcus Luttrell but all of the evidence indicates that he is totally full of shit and it really saddens me..
I'm not in the military and I have never seen any sort of combat but I agree with pretty much everything that you said... It honestly breaks my heart that Marcus would come back and make up so many lies because all of his speeches and public talks pulled on my heartstrings in a way that I've never experienced before.. it makes me angry and most of all makes me sad... If you are not full of s*** and looking for attention on the internet then I appreciate your service and wish you the best of luck in everything that you do...
I heard about different versions..I havnt seen them..I havnt read the autopsy reports..bit I always wondered how he made it out..how could 3 get mowed down and 1 was able to make it out..
God Bless Cindy And Matt and i'm sorry that you have to live through the lies and coward Lutterel leaving his teammates then lying about it but to this day makes millions off a fake movie and fake book and speaking engagements and believing his own lies . ....I pray team guys told you the truth so you can rest with a full heart for Matt

I don't know what to believe entirely but Marcus said he spotted 40 Taliban on the ridge and that's probably what they were up against not 200+ even fighting 40 men who probably know the terrain like the back of their hand would do some damage but I believe these seals fought like absolute warriors and I personally don't think he would leave his friend axe up their who knows but he has changed a few things in his live interviews but went back into combat after going through that. the World of respect for Markus and servicemen RIP Dietz axe and murphy
@@jonathanvasquez3377 no you weren't dude just stop... even the man that lives there and saved Marcus's ass says there wasn't more than 30or 40 Taliban in the entire Valley let alone on that mountain... You are a disgusting fucking liar..
Axe is a warrior!! I am sure he could have been saved if the correct information was passed on! A lot of warriors died in a failed operation. Very sad 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🫡
The problem with Marcus is that he keeps changing his story AFTER the fact and AFTER his book came out. I don't care for Wahlberg or Berg so I've never even seen the movie. But I watched a whole lot of interviews with Marcus when they were doing the promo for the film. During these interviews he would change details of that day from what he wrote down in the book. How can someone do this? A lot of the events in his seem fishy to me. The one that stuck out was he said how insanely quite it was out there. Then all of the sudden 100 goats with bells around their necks sneak up on them without the SEALs hearing them at all? I don't buy it for a second.
That's a really small detail that most people would over look as I did but the way I see it that's +1 for the side of Marcus being a liar.. unfortunately the side of Marcus being a hero who came back and told the truth remains at 0.. this whole situation really disappoints me I looked up to this guy until I did some digging and found out what I perceived to be the truth... I think he ran, I think he took the very first chance that he got to disengage the enemy and leave his brothers who were fighting for their life there to die and he ran... I sincerely hope that I'm wrong and this is just a conspiracy theory that I've bitten onto and haven't let go but for this one I really do not believe that this is the case
@@asphalt-cowboy9479 you think you think you think and you think. This guy has been an SF for YEARS! and you think he ran from this fight and didn't get caught running from other fights? I can almost guarantee you that there has been a day way worse than this one that they all survived together. Y'all just hating on lutrell because he didn't die in combat with his brothers. Lutrell went through probably the worst of it because not only was he shot ( PROVEN, view medical records) 11 times, he was also tortured by the Taliban until the green berets finally found him and saved his ass. This was a normal day gone wrong because they were walking into a KNOWN HORNETS NEST! they had a lack of communication
@@NicAddictedROK no im not upset that he didnt die, thats bullshit.. Im upset because he is soo incredibly inconsistent and most of his story is just not true.. Im upset because he came back with this crazy story about how they had this incredible firefight against more than 75-80 taliban fighters. When the number is more like 11-15 and even that is a BIG maybe. Gulag said there was only around 8 so im being generous. he left with 11 or 12 magazines and was found with 11 full mags in his plate carrier, he claimed that he was totally out of ammo because be was just killin people left and right. he also had his pants that he claimed were blown off by an RPG in the middle of the woods. It was proven that his injuries were also embellished very heavily as well. Unless I'm reading false information my best guess is that they were ambushed by less than a dozen fighters. He fought until the magazine in his weapon was dry and then after seeing one or 2 of his bestfriends die, he hauled ass. That is what it looks like to me. I cant say that i wouldnt have done the same though. Sitting here in the comfort of my own home and never having seen combat i have no idea how i would react and its pretty easy to criticize. . I dont fault him for running, IF THATS WHAT HAPPENED. I fault him for making things up and embellishing what happened...When he got back to america i think he made up most of this shit to motivate and inspire people, making the best of an incredibly terrible situation. This is one of the very few times where i honestly want to be wrong. If you have links to info that could convince me otherwise or disprove the things that ive said i would very much appreciate that you share them.
What are the conflicting stories she's speaking of. She said what she was told and what's in Luttrells book are conflicting?? You can hear it in her tone and by what she said that she thinks Marcus abandoned Matt and ultimately is somewhat to blame for his death. She probably thinks because Matt was blind that he would just slow him down so he abandoned him. Which is incredibly messed up. I have no doubt that Marcus gave it his all and didn't just leave a man behind. And there is an interview where Marcus talks about how one of the families cussed him out and blamed him for his teammates death etc. And I know he's cool with the Dietz family and the Murphy family so I'm assuming he was talking about the Axleson family. Truly is a shame
All of the families think that. All of them do not like Marcus and believe he abandoned them. Read the book - Murphy’s mom literally kicks Marcus out of her home within 5 min of him arriving to pay his respects because she didn’t wanna hear the bullshit.
It sucks to say, but there is so much evidence to the contrary of Marcus’ story that it’s hard to believe most of it. There’s video proof and several eyewitness accounts that go against his version. You can tell the wife is being diplomatic about it, but it’s obvious she’s questioning why there are so many inconsistencies.
Marcus luttrell didnt tell the rangers where they were on the mountain. AXLESON was alive for another 8.5 days. Found dead on day 10. Marcus dont sound so heroic now does it

One of the troopers in that platoon was married, 19 years of age, his wife was six months pregnant, he was among the KIA's. War is hell and it leaves hellish memories for those of us who survive and for those who are survived by the ones who didn't make it. Only God knows why...
So sad,you are so strong and brave.
Just named our third chesipeke bay retriever after Matt because he is my best friend and so loyal he will fight to the death to protect me and my family thank you all for your service military are the greatest
Great dogs. I've had 2 and own one now. We also live right off the Chesapeake bay, what a coincidence.
As many vets say, the bravest is the families!
Thank you both.
We will NEVER forget.....EVER 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
Bless you Cindy. What a hero x
They were attacked and they fought back. It's all that matters they gave it their all. Their heroes. And Marcus was there
My utmost gratitude!🙏❤️
Poignant mixture of desperate sadness and positivity ?
Very Beautiful Woman And Awesome and Brave Hero's.
May God watch over their family's, glide them through life.
Never Ever forget the one you lost.
The years will go by and suddenly all you could have been...all you could have done...is gone.
it is a ceetainty that Cindy Axelson will spare no effort to make her child understand what a courageous and valiant American hero his daddy was
They didn’t have children
I named my son after him! He impacted so many!

Rip to all of those who died fighting this war.
Wow ....... Amen , God bless
God bless you Cindy you are a beautiful soul
I'm sorry for your lost God Bless you!!
DONT HAVE WORDS ENOUGH FOR THE WARRIOR YOU LOST GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS
I keep You and Matt in My Daily Prayers,,,
The story isn't lies.
So true
@@RDA8191 considering how the dude has TBI from it, I'd cut him some slack.
Your husband is a HERO!!!!!
I've just reading the book and no doubt they are brave men and soldiers!
I'm imagining how they feel when they r in combat woww they r real heroes
Matt Axelson was a courageous who valiantly defended the Constitution of the United States of America and the liberties we cherish and our way of life. +Vicente Di Tagle IKR , Wish he'd stop saying Matt was beheaded . Pisses people off
Vicente Di Tagle he was a sailor, not a soldier.
Brian Vincent soldier? Lmao Matt wasn’t a soldier he was a frogman/seal dumbass.
I do know
What was that speech at the beginning?
The problem is that no one knows but Marcus... even investigations have flaws so a lot of the stories have to be on assumptions and Marcus was on adrenaline the whole time not to mention how many times he must have fallen down the steep revines bumping his head along... in a fire fight 40 to 50 can seem like 100 to 200, the question i have was what was the official body count of the taliban.
no one knows how many talibans they killed
It was 0.0
I too recently read that the other dead bodies found were zero. It's very interesting and wouldn't be the first time the military turned a shit storm into a hero story as military propaganda.
i think the official nr. is somewhere between 25 - 40
The whole OP was a total fuck up from the beginning.
Shes the woman a man needs. With otmost respect.
I’ve read the book and is far better than the movie. I wouldn’t rule out the notion of his death being elaborated into a diversion, for his more needed involvement in a top secret government mission. Without seeing an actual body... we may never know the truth.
What is Robert byng talking about?

Sad to say, whichever guy ends up with her, will be walking in the shadow of Matt, dealing with photos, reminders, and being judged. Not a life I would want when she states she’s moving on. When you’re married to a Warrior, and a recognized public figure now. It’s hard to fill those shoes. Hopefully she made some money off the tragic incident and don’t sabotage her love life if involved today.

I'm going to go out on a limb here
and I myself have been in combat
and have been shot multiple times and survived
I have shot and killed enemy combatants
and let me tell you something
you remember every last detail as ta what you just survived
lutrells story about these seals and there deaths
and also the number of enemy they killed has changed so many times it puts doubt into my mind that he was even there
look at the autopsy on Danny, mike, and axel, they were shot multiple times.
basically ripped to pieces.
lutrell never shot once
the bullethole he said he sustained in his calf was actually caused from being impaled by a tree branch
his pants supposedly got blown to shreds due to rpg blast?
were found completely intact
in the village
he supposedly used up all his ammo in the firefight?
man that rescued him, said he had 11 full magazines
in his ammo vest
forgive me for saying this
he jetted on them
I said it
he was scared
he panicked an he ran
I don't blame him for his emotions
because I've been there
I blame him for his actions
you never leave a brother behind
you die fighting
there should not have been no
lone Survivor
because in my world, to my fellow brothers in arms
if you go- I go
And there you have it. That is what selfless service is all about.
I actually think he might have ran too. But not too early in the fight, maybe he saw a chance after the team got seperated.
Why did they zoom on the man at 0:23?
CPO Dan Healy (L) and Murph planned the mission. Both wore patches from a firehouse in NY where Murph had friends so its probably just a nod
Thanks for the sacrifice!
Till Valhalla my brothers 🙏

If only the other 3 seals ran away and hid like Marcus Latrell did ...

How the fuck are there dislikes on this video...
Axe is a warrior!! I am sure he could have been saved if the correct information was passed on! A lot of warriors died in a failed operation. Very sad 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🫡
Never understood making commitments when your purpose is expendability.
Nwo You obviously didn’t read the Operation Red Wings report. Marcus was NEVER tortured. I was saddened to learn the truth.
