I am certain on July 20, 1973 that Bruce Lee had a seizure also. Wong Shun Leung did an interview (available in Cantonese on RUclips) that he went to the hospital, saw Bruce Lee's corpse and noticed that his feet were curled up as if he had a fit of seizure, as if he died under some duress. No question July 20th was a second episode of May 10th.

I have read about a scientific research of his early demise. This research has been made recently. They have investigated all information concerned with conditions of bruce lee's death and concluded that his death highly likely was due to hypernatremia caused by using illegal drugs, drugs.....also he had a very small percentage of fat, stress, poor diet in his last days. All these things provoked a cerebral edema.

Yo!!! Thanks for the shoutout!!! This episode was great as usual, but I think Bob Marley would rank top of the list of the other Bobs, although there may not have been a direct connection with Bruce...
I've got 2 questions for you:
    1) In the Donnie Yen film "Kung Fu Killer" there's talk about each victim being an expert of one of four disciplines: hand techniques, seizing and locking, legs and kicking techniques, and weaponry (Kuen Faat, Tui Faat, Kum Na/Seut Faat, Mouh Hei). Are these legitimate martial culture references or are they just movie plot magic?
    And a much simpler question:
    2) Had he lived and continued making films, do you think Bruce Lee would ever play a villain?

I have a family member that suffered from seizures early in life (since controlled with medication) but you're right it's a pretty horrific sight to see with the convulsions their bodies go through and as you mention the thrashing about and how parts of the body curl because of the muscle spasms that occur!

Their Back... Episode 111, super fantastic, loving again the original format. WoW, lots of great content here. The Bruce Lee May 10th account was fascinating. I keep envisioning the Bruce 'Thrashing' about scene -- feels like a game video movie, very visual. The segway to the least favorite Bob, perfect timing! And BruceLee80s! I keep thinking if Bruce and Jackie Chani would have mixed well in a flick or two?! (well beyond Jackie just being a killed extra)
That random 30 part question about Bruce and kicks, throws and JKD, perfectly answered and so agree with the KFGs take on the matter. It is amazing how many are so pigeon held (perhaps Mike Tyson's art) on martial arts generalizations even more so, about Bruce's art, that was cut short, thus so many 'canned' versions and definitions to make a one's head spin more than Linda Blair Exorcists takes! You did a marvelous job setting it straight, Bravo again KFG.
The story about Sifu Leung Ting was awesome! In today's world it has multiplied 100-fold with 'online' teaching/teachers where just a bit of info, can make one authority to teach others. It seems to be ok to just be 2 steps ahead of others and have a notion to teach. So good for him to cut them off the pass. Unfortunately in today's world, it is an "amazon reseller' mentality thing to do.
Again, with subject of martial arts teaching and such, the student hopefully knows, the Why? They are taking the art? the Which art that encompasses what they are looking for, i.e. Self Defense purposes, exercise and discipline, as a way of life... The Where and Who I hope is answered with studying what is available in your area for your 'Why'. The idea of treating them all as a portion of this one blob is way too general.
So question for Sifu KFG, at City Wing Tsun, do you incorporate 'philosophy' in your training, or is that shared here on your podcast for the most part?

Interesting trivia. Peter Morgan said Paul McCartneys people called golden harvest right before Bruce Lee died and wanted him as part of the group of renegades on the band on the run cover. Sadly bettys misadventure ruined that dream and a month later Jimmy coburn replaced Bruce on the cover. Bruce and Paul McCartney should have done a movie together. Live and let die should have been the theme song to enter the dragon. Bruce Lee should have been in Paul’s video coming up

Someone must have told him that pursuing a freedom of speech issue against an American would probably be very expensive for him and would not be successful in a million years. Three years later my lawyer is eagerly awaiting this lawsuit! That's all I have to say about that.

What are your thoughts on this, on one of my questions you mentioned some times some moves are for show or demonstration but not for fighting or self defense, but if someone is at a convention or competition or tournament and some one from a style is doing some form or fancy thing, we assume that’s what they teach and use, so people look at it and critique that it’s not practical, so maybe the teacher should say something before the demo that they teach this skills or techniques but it’s for entertainment, but maybe they won’t get many students cause we want to see and do those tricks, make it work and look good doing it

@@TheKungFuGenius hi and thank you for your reply. Yes indeed, Bob has a bit of a reputation in that regard. I question the premise simply because, although Sammo wasn't particularly muscular - somewhat rotund in fact, there can be no doubting his martial arts prowess. One only has to visit a few of his movies with Jackie Chan in the early 80s, or even the fight with Bruce Lee at the start of EtD, to witness how agile, fast and skilled he actually was. In the TV series, Martial Law, again he shows his undoubted physical prowess.
I have only found your channel recently, (the subject matter being Bruce Lees' so called drug letters), and enjoy it very much, and 'Golden Bell Training' channel also. Of a much more dubious nature however, is pretty much anything put up by 'Beerdy' !
Whilst he does come up with some interesting footage or rare pics, his interpretation of said material can best be described as somewhat dubious !

@@TheKungFuGenius I would refute at least some of the above statements.
For one thing, Bruce had his underarm sweat glands surgically removed, prior to September 1972, (hardly what you would call right before his death !), when he was due to commence filming fight scenes for GoD. He had them removed, as he felt it was unsightly to be seen sweating on camera, thereby debunking his mythical asian superman status, to his millions of fans, particularly in Asia itself.
The one thing that no-one ever seems to mention, is GoD is the only movie in which Bruce didn't have some 'excuse' to strip off to the waist, unlike in all of his other movies.
My own theory is that the surgical scars had not sufficiently healed by that time, and so he kept covered up. His face also shows signs of wieght loss, and his body also looks decidely thinner than previously, which may have been another reason for him not wanting to strip off.
By the time Warner Brothers came calling, later that year, with the offer to collaborate with their Asian counterparts, in what would eventually become EtD, his underarm scars would have had time to sufficiently heal, from an aesthetic point of view, as filming for that movie wouldn't occur until the early part of 1973.
It was also well documented during shooting of EtD, that Bruce was reluctant to come out to film some of his scenes (not sure which ones, as source material is unclear on this matter), as he had apparently developed a facial twitch or some such, that wouldn't have looked good on camera, and so other scenes were filmed in the meantime, that didn't necessarily require him in the shot. Movies are rarely shot in the sequence we see in the finished product, in any case. This can be down to equipment availability issues (lighting, extras, etc etc), or indeed principal actors schedules, where they may be required to film another movie somewhere else, and so their scenes for EtD would be logically shot first.
Bruces' underarm surgery scars were obviously sufficiently well healed during the underground fight scene with the nunchakus, and he looks in incredibly good shape in these scenes, compared to, for example, the later external scenes, where Bolo cuts his rope restraints, so that he may engage in a fight - he looks thinner in the face and body, as ripped as it appears to be in that scene.
Just my thoughts on the matter. Others will doubtless beg to differ.

Seizure's are quite the thing... My life partner has them... When she has them she loses all muscle control. It's hard to help her during them and shes only 5'2" and is not a tough person by any stretch of means. Hearing Bruce Lee having seizures and knowing how strong he was scares me literally. I can't even imagine how much uncontrolled strength those people had to try and contain. Crazy. I'm 6'2" and would consider myself a fairly strong individual and I have/had trouble moving and containing a 5'2" female during a seizure. Trying to wrap my mind around Lee having a seizure and trying to deal with that is insane. Seizures seem to give people super uncontrolled muscle strength which seems to easily makes people way-way stronger than normal. I can say this with confidants due to dealing with them with 8+ years of experience sadly.

According to Wong Shun Leung, he got to see Bruce’s body after he died and he said his hand was clenched like he'd died having a seizure/fitting. The only difference in the May 10th collapse and the July 20th death is that he was found in May and rushed to hospital and in July Betty took so long getting help that he died in the process. Instead of calling immediately for an ambulance who would've taken him to the hospital and the doctors who had his records would've given him the same treatment as saved his life before, I.e Mannitol. But she chose to call Raymond who is no doctor. Then after they decided to call her doctor, again who didn't have the medicine he needed and didn't know his case history, by then he was already dead then they called an ambulance but it was too late by then. Betty killed Bruce first by maybe not noticing soon enough that he was fitting, and then by not getting him the immediate help he needed.

They knew that he almost died 2 month ago and thus, they knew that if they wont call emergency he can die. It is highly likely that Bruce Lee asked Betty call for a help ( he was too sick to call himself) and took the aspirin as a temporary relief of severe headache untill ambulance comes to apartment. Then he went to bed and waited for a help. Bruce lee was going to be a huge superstar, and producer even bigger than Raymond Chow and many others. He was a serious competitor for them. By taking in attention chinese deceit they just leted him die.

Did Bruce use drugs I would have to say it was because he was a product of the culture especially Hollywood culture in the 1960s. Drug culture was At its peak during this period. also Bruce Lee was very aggressive in his training and probably saw marijuana use as a way to enhance his training. Or maybe he just did this to relax. From accounts I’ve heard about Bruce Lee it seems he was very hyper and had difficulty relaxing and slowing down I could see how taking marijuana might cause him to mellow out. I know of Vietnam vets who take marijuana in order to chill out and counteract the stress that they encounter daily

He was doing too much of everything, over training in the gym , drugs , martial arts , movies , traveling long distances , also training with that electricity generator that s..t defo destroying your heart.
Ppl say that he defo was not in pain before the death but guys I can assure you it was a lot of pain and the actual scene Beti will neverd say how it was , and I don't think we need to know , it's just so sad to lose such a multi talented guy like him ...
He didn't lost a fight for sure. The guy was too skinny he was incredible artist huge talent , very fast as everyone knows , he could clearly make people looking useless to block his kicks etc but , comparing to professional fighters like Muay Tai, Judo , BJJ who are killers him as a skinny guy could lose most of street fights
Bruce was a special guy , extremely gifted as artist , Philosopher, Creator of martial art JKD , with great knowledge of martial arts and weapons, a teacher a charismatic person , for sure has great humor , defo womanizer sorry to say.
And definitely not a bad ass guy beating up gangsters and mafiots around...
