Love these videos. I have completly reorchastrated my swing in the last 3 weeks using these techniques. I am 66 and am hitting the ball as far as I did 20 years ago. As I refine these techniques I expect to get even more distance and control. Ty
Another great presentation to improve our understanding of the most efficient and powerful way to swing the golf club! It is such a satisfying feeing to deliver a solid strike down the middle!!!
This is definitely a speed and power producing position. Most amateurs are missing this. Extremely helpful and missing piece of most golf swings I see including my own when it is weak. Feet together drill will almost always straighten me out when power is leaking. Here's my question.......at impact..... hands shoulder and thigh are lined up with the head on or just behind the ball (at impact)? Then technically hands etc move on up and around to finish? Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your kindness.
you would simply want to use the intermediate point to deliver through; see “throwing the club shawn clement” and “predict perfect contact and direction shawn clement”
Just subscribed today, and I can’t wait to get back out on the range. The last couple of times I played, I implemented some lessons from your videos (grip, throw the club) and my striking, impact, and consistency drastically changed. Thanks Shawn!
With the jackknife drill (Pump drill as some would call it.), I can't help but keep my lead arm straight, too (at least for me), which I think is awesome. Thanks as always Shawn (and Mu)!
Do yinz feel the inner lead thigh pulling the arm club unit thru impact. Mr. Flick believed the lower body works more of a supportive manner. The other half of the golfing professional world feels the lower body is the driver of the golfswing. Never mind this post you just clarified in the last 30 seconds of this video. Exactly what I expected great instruction. Thank yinz
Hey John! This one is important; you are LETTING THE WEIGHT OF THE CLUB RELEASE YOUR ARM ANATOMY in the direction you want to start the ball; it is not your job to place the club, it is the G-force of the target bound swing that does that for you. See an oldie but goodie called “fencing for power shawn clement” and on our premium channel you want to see “lead hand release”, “trail hand release”, “release fine tuning”, “snap release polish” and our latest “important release update” which is an absolutely INFALLIBLE way to feel that release!
Great video . How do you get your analysis to pop up on screen automatically . I just had GC Hawk installed in my house. I have go over to cpu monitor manual click analysis get to show up after in hit a ball. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Shawn, Thanks so much for the the great Videos. Tried feeling like the butt of my club was going towards the target today and shot 6 over. This goes along with a stronger grip for me to make sure the club is squared. Hit all but 4 greens in regulation. Distance was very good as well. But I do have a question, I hear from so many teachers not to pull the club or at least from the top. How can this move not be a total pull? I guess it worked for me, so just don't worry about it. LOL. Thanks again for all you do for us golfers searching for a better way to take our lack of talent and have some fun playing this awesome game!
Hi Patrick! This is why we do tasks like “throwing the club through an intermediate point towards the direction we want to start the ball” because sport science has proven that we all suck at body part positioning; even the pros like Rory who just bounced back to his old coach because Pete Cowen could not help…because he was going with different body parts…Just listen to Rory, it’s sad!
Decent on the lag & gravity zone coming into the ball , you might want to tell folks a bit more about the "trigger finger" concept tho , it can turn your ball flight into a massive hook if you are not careful
Not a chance if you are focused through the ball! Easy to snap one if you drop your focus and strain and force the club at the ball trying to hit it too hard though! Golfers fall for the oldest trick in the book; they hook a couple thinking it’s too much right hand or grip too strong; but when I ask them what their focus was just before they pull the trigger, half don’t know what they were thinking and the other half were trying to hit the ball hard. Then the worst part is they think they did something wrong with their body parts…as if they were defective! 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for another great video. The swing at 6:00 min mark is it swinging to fast that's making you move backwards off your spot?.I do this a lot with my driver even though, like you did, the result was pretty good
any tips on fixing a problem about divot depth? I hit great off of mats, but many times when I'm on grass, I'm either taking to deep a divot, or none at all, and my distance control is all over the place.
Hey Rick! WE HAVE TONS!! Search “tilt shawn clement golf” and get into the axis of rotation that will allow you to stay along the ground and towards the target and NOT TOWARDS THE BALL. A great task to practice is in my “grass whip training shawn clement” video.
Very curious, if you hit your short irons just shy of 200 yds, how far do you hit a longer iron like a 3 or 4 iron? Would love to see what clubs you use in a normal round of golf.
Depends on the shot! I can use 7 iron from 150 and then depending on the shot, can deliver it at 200 yards. average is 180 yards. 4 iron is 230 yards average.
At the end of the video you mentioned sequence which is more important to me, since I will hit the ball fat if I consciously try to hold hands and let them drop. But if I raise my left foot and let it drop then my hands will follow in downswing and release. My swing is completely different if I use that technique even while not changing my grip. I don’t think someone can’t consciously hold hands in lag position and succeed. You understand what I’m saying??
How does this apply to wedges? Also any suggestion on accuracy on pitch shots? I generally miss the target a lot but do hit the greens. Am using intermediate point but dont get the draw or fade from 100 yards in.
Hi Ravi! the more loft you have the less you can curve the ball so this is consistent with your experience! on the premium channel you would see “blur of club” and then all the “arc blur” videos and then understand that our side vision as humans is very limited and this is why we need to deliver through a different way.
Hey Daryl! HAHA, this is the GC HAWK from Foresight sports where you have the 4 camera unit OVERHEAD and that way you get to hit righty and lefty games without having to move the QUAD around. AMAZING UNIT!!
@@golflessons Thanks! Funny thing, I had your videos on loop and came upon one where you first received your Quad and stated you would be soon getting the overhead Hawk. Thanks for super fast reply!
Hi Shawn. I noticed you are leaving your left heel on the ground today. I find that i need to lift it up quite a bit to make a full swing, get my left knee behind the ball, left shoulder well under my chin, and my back to the target. Then I can just unwind from there in a relaxed manner and make good contact. Are you just more flexible and therefore don't need to lift your heel?
it can go both ways in my right handed swing but my left handed swing is very much like you, cannot function at all without that lead heel coming off and lead knee coming behind the ball; then I feel I can plaster it effortlessly as I deliver my top spin backhand ping pong release into my picture! 😀👍👌💪
Hi Shawn, I am a Right Handed Person, who plays Golf as a Lefty. I sometimes think I am at a disadvantage as my right hand is dominant and ends up pulling the club down, in my downswing and ends up casting the club. My left hand is not strong enough to control the swing. Do you have any tips for me to even out my swing so that I can create more lag and get good compression on the ball? I have horrible distances with all my clubs and I tend to slice it off to the left a lot. Thank you!
See my “Lead Hand Dominant shawn clement” videos; I have seen and heard what you are experiencing and the 2 questions are “why are you swinging from that side”? and “if you played tennis, would your backhand or forehand be better?”
@@golflessons I play tennis right handed. Any sport that requires 2 hands i.e. baseball bat, golf club, hockey stick, even curling broom, I am Lefty. Any one handed sports like Tennis racket, throwing a ball, table tennis, basketball shots, writing, eating, etc... all Righty! Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the "Lead Hand Dominant" videos.
Been very busy but finally hit some balls on the range. I only think about the carrot peel drill (for me, this works better than grass cutting as it gives me more accurate task). I literally crushed every single ball without any serious miss. What a feel. Then, watching this video, I'm thinking about lag. Back then, whenever I tried to add lag, everything failed. It was miserable and it took so much time to get my natural swing back. So..... when it comes to lag, I'm a bit afraid as things are going so well. I feel like I'm manipulating something with my hand with the jack knife drill... Should I be happy with where I'm at? My ball striking is very solid and distance isn't too bad (but wish i could be a bit faster). Or should I go for more with the lag drills?
This video is more about the feel of lag when you stay on your task of delivering your divot peels to the direction you want to start the ball; so stay on your task! 👍😀
Maybe its just me, but are your arms really falling that fast during your full swing? Really looks like you're adding to that swing speed but could just be an illusion. The concept of falling arms is difficult to comprehend but you're not the first to relay this point in this manner so no doubts here, just a bit of application confusion I suppose... :)
