Hello I am actually one of the developers on the mod and I can confirm it was my idea to place sm3das in jail and it's because I don't like sm3das and i thought it would be funny if it was in jail
It's interesting to see how well Galaxy mechanics work in Sunshine levels. The leaf is an elegant solution for the poison river. Dash peppers are a natural evolution of the turbo nozzle. Removing your spin provides a similar level of challenge to removing FLUDD. Even the addition of Cloud Flowers provides similar verticality to the rocket nozzle. Being able to play the rest of the levels without wonky physics would be absolutely incredible, so best of luck to SPG64! P.S. - That 'Game Over' shine is really clever.
The bee mushroom is literally the hover nozzle in its advanced form, the blimp fruit can act as a rocket nozzle and a hover nozzle at the same time, Yoshi no longer disintegrates when he touches water, the spin attack isn't as broken as F.L.U.D.D. can be, etc.. SMG2 is the evolved form of SMS.
I'm not much for rom hacks in terms of me actually playing them, but whoever made this clearly had some real talent. Rare that I see a rom hack with this kind of quality.
Damn, this mod is awesome! Seriously, there I was thinking "it's mostly gonna be Galaxy mechanics in mostly unchanged Mario Sunshine levels", but no. You've got a hub world with levels branching off of it, shine previews displayed there like on the map, enemies based on those in Sunshine, interesting takes on secret levels accessible from Delfino Plaza, etc. It's really awesome to see, and makes me realise how far Mario Galaxy 2 hacking has come recently. Great job on the mod SPG64! And great job on the video too Bathaniel!
I just realized the speed difference in marios run between games and the logic behind them. "Longer platform" levels like delfino plaza requires higher top speed to get from point A to point B. Longer platforms need to keep the pacing constant so speed is compensated but that means looser controls and looser jumps. Galaxy has "shorter platform" levels like the planets that dont require a lot of time to get from point A to point B has lower top speed for more accurate jumps. You can see the diffrence in speed when marios running around delfino plaza. It would be annoying just from getting to one end of the plaza to another with galaxys lower speed BUT the trade off is the secret stages are easier with more accurate jumps.

Bathaniel has said before that he sometimes needs to record inside Nathaniel's recording room because of weather issues, so he'll just record a video of his boulders and then use a green-screen to give off the illusion that he's sitting at his boulders. He made that public statement a while back.
It's better than waiting for the long boat I mean yes and you could drop yoshi anytime and if not careful and dont let your self be almost there and you fell that's so annoying to have to swim all the way back and get a different everytime especially when he wants bananas and the boat is right there
Well finally Luigi was invited on this vacation. I still can't believe they didn't bring Luigi along with them in the original game. He was really missing out and I'm sure Mario could've really used his help too.
"spinning after a dive - makes sense" Well, in a scratch fangame i found out that a flaw in the game made you able to spin (once tough) after a dive, and whats hilarious i that the game allowed for ANOTHER dive after the spin, bc why wouldn't you add that? And i just love it as a speedrunner of these games. Its sadly only in two games, but whatever
I got every bianco shine without the cap or power-ups except bianco 2, bianco 6 (yoshi) and bianco 8 (this one, with infinite flutter). It's actually really fun to find a way to get thoses without the spin boost!

No one even liked them anyway.” THANK YOU for voicing one of the MANY complaints I’ve had about Sunshine for the last 20 years! It took me until 2021 to get a 120-Shine Sprite file, because when I looked up where all the blue coins were, some of them had me thinking “Who’d think to do THAT?!” Seriously, I made no progress on this game for YEARS until I checked a strategy guide to learn that (a) I needed the 7th Shine in every level to unlock the final stage, rather than a fixed number like in SM64, and (b) I was supposed to SPIN JUMP at a specific location to get the 2nd Shine in Noki Bay! I was like, “Spin Jump?” It turns out, there’s only ONE PLACE in the entire game where the Spin Jump is even MENTIONED. And that’s the first mission of DELFINO AIRSTRIP (like you’d ever think to go back to that exact mission, JUST to learn how to Spin Jump, when you’d gotten that Shine MONTHS IF NOT YEARS AGO)! Seriously, if you NEED a strategy guide just to beat the main story, the game is too hard. Plain and simple.
I really would like to see odyssey levels demaked in Mario Galaxy haha. I bet the gameplay works very well Oh fun fact, 3d land was made with galaxys engine
