  • This time it's the turn of deploying & customising apps in Microsoft 365. We'll take a look at Endpoint Manager as well as looking at the configuration tools in the Microsoft 365 Admin centre. I hope you enjoy and as always I love to receive feedback.

what do you do with the xml file. do you place it in a network share along with the office365 executable. This is completely diffirent from how it was done before. I guess there's no way to push it to the clients like using group policy and AD

Hi Andy, just discovered your content - finding it useful. However as a noob it's sometimes difficult to follow what a particular option is for. For example understanding what the XML generator app is for ... surely if you are just AAD you;d use the policy version instead? It wasn't clear what you use the XML file for!

Honestly, I'm not a developer./ I just use the UI for this. Try the Microsoft Tech community or Microsoft Docs. Sorry to be honest :-) I just don't want to BS you :-)

Every YT video I've watched focuses on the ProPlus edition. I can't find any tutorial for setting up M365 Apps for business anywhere (as this must be configured with XML as per. docs). Yes, I do have a Business Premium subscription. The ODT wizard for the business edition don't have the RemoveAll option avail., only the RemoveMSI. I've tried to autopilot M365 apps (business) to a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 10 with stock OEM image and are seeing two versions of M365 apps under Programs and Features, 2 with business suffix, the others in different languages don't. Any suggestion? Keep up the good work BTW!

Generally they’re the same. I’m currently recording a series of videos on in tune and on mobile device management. I’ll also add your request to my list and I’ll do you a video on applications 👍

What is the purpose of downloading the xml file?what is the use of the xml file?

The XML can be useful for creating a new M365 Apps Application in Intune (you can choose to use existing XML rather than using the Designer) in the portal. The XML contains the configuration changes required to define which version of Office is installed, and any customisations.
It can also be useful for documentation and knowledge sharing.
