  • In this video i am showing how to change your air filters in your 2012 honda civic. This location is similar to other years from 2006 to 2014.
    You can buy the filters at the dealer or you can get them online a bit cheaper. If you have any questions or comments please leave a message below and i will get back to you.

      +David Henriquez most honda engines now have vtec, the 1.8 is the gas saving type that is adjusted for gas saving so you won't get much power out of it. it is vtec though. look up r18 engine honda

      Yep. Dealership tried to tell me my cabin air filter needed to be replaced I was like “I replaced it last week when my blower motor went bad.” They act like women don’t know how to work on cars. It’s hysterical. 😭😭😭😭 my engine air filter does need replacing though so I’ll be doing that myself.

    I have a 2008 Honda Civic which I've had for about two years and, to my knowledge, the air filer has never been changed, so I was planning to do it myself to save some money. This was very helpful, thanks. Also, I never knew there was such a thing as a "cabin" air filter, but I guess I should probably changed that, too.

      Personally i would not get the cheap air filters they sell at autozone, they do not filter properly. The only one i would recommend and the one i will be getting soon is the K&N Filter. You can reuse the filter for the life of the vehicle and has great reviews.

  • @YD-uq5fi
    @YD-uq5fi 8 лет назад +3

    Isn't it ok to just wash the old filter (soak it overnight in the basement sink) so that all the grit is removed, and then using the same one again?
    I mean, that really should be good enough if you get most or all of the grit/dust out of it.
    Then, the whole thing is FREE, plus better for the environment....

    • @ExhaustedPidgeon
      @ExhaustedPidgeon  8 лет назад

      Personally, I have never tried this and since the filters are cheap I rather be safe buying a new one instead of risking it.

    • @YD-uq5fi
      @YD-uq5fi 8 лет назад +1

      I don't know. Just tapping it on the ground and running the vacuum hose attachment through it probably cleans it enough. Maybe dry-brushing it with an old toothbrush will work too.
      Is the filter made of paper? If so, no water should be used, but vacuuming it may suffice...
      It is cheap, but think about landfills, etc.

  • @joywang754
    @joywang754 8 лет назад

    Your video is very helpful, I have been looking for the cabin air filter but couldn't find it. I am going to order one off amazon, does it matter what brand, and what about the engine filter? Thanks for your response

    • @ExhaustedPidgeon
      @ExhaustedPidgeon  8 лет назад

      honestly, I would recommend OEM Honda filters. They are very cheap online. I mean, sure you could buy the cheaper ones made in China but the quality is not up to participate with the quality Honda puts on their filters.
      For example. An original filter is thicker yet catches more debri from going inside the engine and cabin while a cheap on will let all the trash go in possibly ruining your car in the long run. There are many people that will say that it will cause no damage by using cheap filters, but disagree and hey...why risk it for 2 or 3 dollars less. lmk

    • @ftumi

      Depends on which ones. They say not to wash the " paper" ones .. the trick is: do not use a hose I was tempted to do this vacuum it lightly, in very very hot water with some detergent GENTLY MOVE AROUND let's soak rinse and air-dry with terry cloth underneath the problem is that this breaks down the filter if you're not gentle enough
