This is Why Hunter-Gatherers Were Stronger and Happier Than Modern Humans | Human History

  • For almost 2 million years, we humans lived as hunter-gatherers. If we look at human evolution that is more than 90 percent of our history. During that entire period, we were insignificant animals. We had no impact on the environment around us and we lived in the constant fear of being hunted down by predators. Back then, we lived at the mercy of nature but today we have learned to manipulate and control nature to utilize it for farming, producing energy, and building sophisticated technology. In the last 1 lac years with the rise of homo sapiens, we have jumped from the bottom to the top of the food chain. We are no longer the hunted we have become the hunters. Despite all this when it comes to physical and mental strength and overall well-being we humans are far less superior than our hunter-gatherer ancestors. What explains this and is there a way to regain at least some of that physical and mental strength? Let's find out -

This was EXCELLENT!!! You condensed complex, intersectional info in a cohesive, ‘’story’ type delivery. I loved it!
As Autistic Advocate, I firmly believe the hunter/gatherer life is best suited for Autistics like me. Agriculture and stationary life better suits non-Autistics. As such, Autistics, more often than not, fail to thrive in today’s civilization.

I think a mix of the right things would benefit everyone and the planet. A mix of agriculture and hunter/gathering, use what nature is already giving you instead of fighting and abusing nature into give you more of a few things. We must shift from capitalism towards sustainability, the right mix of hunter/gathering, agriculture and industrialization type of mindsets can take us there I believe.

Well said! We've all (more than likely) heard that if you enjoy doing an activity/creating/etc. that you would do well to monetize it. After all, why have employment that you don't enjoy? But to state doing something for the sake of enjoyment, and to not capitalize on it otherwise it will apply unnecessary pressure to your life (and perhaps make it so that you no longer enjoy it) is fairly profound reasoning. Appreciate the time and energy put into this video 🙏🏻 Your articulation of ideas is well put together.

Also from myself I feel whenever I get food for free say an apple from a tree or a free meal at the Sikhs temple it’s different. You enjoy free food more then when you pay for it. I don’t know if it’s my Jewish cultural background or evolutionary thing but when I pay for food I don’t feel that I gained something, because I’m exchanging my life time for money, and then it returns back to me as a food. I don’t know if it makes sense.
