- Strap yourselves in folks...it's gonna be a tough one...
Today we're at The Garden Cafe in Long Eaton, taking a shot at their as yet unconquered breakfast baguette challenge. Diners have to finish one huge 20 inch baguette, stuffed with eggs, sausage, bacon, black pudding, hash brown, cheese and even hamburger patties; a bowl of tomatoes, a bowl of baked beans and a load of chips in order to get a spot on the wall of fame and the £25 meal for FREE!
*Originally the time limit was 30 minutes, but after the owner saw some big eaters fall way short, it was extended to 45 minutes.

What I like most is even though he’s eating a huge amount of food, it’s not gross like some other challenge eaters, where they just look sick. He does really well and it’s not disgusting, it’s mesmerizing
Yeah it's just general courtesy of others. He's at public restaurants, he probably calls ahead to let them know he's looking to do their challenge, but that doesn't mean they clear everyone out. So you do have people there legit trying to enjoy a meal, and doesn't want to gross them out by looking like a total slob
He’s actually a very clean eater as well
He also isnt rushing as fast as he could be. Hes enjoying the food (usually) and conversing and hes polite. Unlike other eaters that scarf it down as fast as they can

I did a burger challenge like 14 years ago and did the same thing. Got a good laugh from the employees. Beard probably could have had 2 of the burgers though!

@@alexcook9925 It was really good! 2 patties, probably 1/2 lb each. Onion rings, Chicken strips, Bacon, Philly Cheese steak, that was all on the burger. Plus the usual toppings. 30 tots included. I didn't actually order desert, I just wanted to get a laugh. A friend's wife ordered something that looked amazing and I did snack on some of it after finishing the challenge.
I remember watching videos like this as a kid when I was hungry. Thanks for doing what you do. People like you helped me get through some really tough days every now and then. It's part of the reason I like cooking now.
I love how you interact with the people and even throw in quite a bit of humor, even though you are on the clock. I bet those beans worked on you for a while too...that was a lot! Great job as always!

Just a guy doing what he likes, no politics, no philosophy, no intellectual debates, no white noise. In more ways than one, this channel is inspiring. Are there awful things out there? Yes, but there are also many good things.

I love the genuine human interactions that take place between Beard and his random fans. He's a good measure of a persons calibre too. When I meet a new person, if they know about Beard, then I know they're a good sort already!
It's often proper "blokes" too in these sort of cafes, they never take the piss just watch on in awe and offer encouragement and a clap at the end. Makes you proud to be British.
the only thing that makes these videos half watchable is the interaction from bystanders in my humble opinion

The community and restaurants owners/employees supporting you and cheering/clapping is probably my favorite part of the challenges.
When Beard walks into your restaraunt the first thing that goes through your mind is "well, our challenge WAS undefeated."

I live 20 minutes from Long Eaton, have been there hundreds of times and never knew this place existed, let alone this breakfast challenge.
Needless to say, I won't be calling in to attempt it.
Thirty years ago, I'd have been stupid enough to try but now, I'll leave it to the professionals.

Part of the charm of these videos is how pleasant Adam always is to the proprietors and the patrons that cheer him on. The commentary is entertaining without being banal or crass.

One I can think of is where Man vs. Food had to drink so many shakes/malts in a certain time frame and he puked it up during the challenge doing it. I think he could do it. Having significant morning (and noon and night) sickness and struggling to eat or keep things down. For some reason, rather than being repulsed, watching you binge on these meals has been comforting for me. Thanks for the content!
