The "fix" is for collectors to not buy any comic that is in a current CGC slab, and not send raw books in to be graded until there is a new slab. This is a hobby. Comic book buying isn't medical care for an illness that is progressing. Collectors can easily wait until a new slab is launched and these books are re-graded and re-slabbed - which is what it's going to take to restore confidence. What urgency is there to buy a slabbed book right now? Neither the collector nor the dealer they would buy it from, can tell if a CGC book is legit at this point. Percentage wise, most slabs are okay (especially those under $100 in value) but there is a unknown percentage of CGC books that are not legitimate.. and no one can tell which ones are illegitimate. Which is why collectors should wait until the higher-value books they want are re-slabbed into the next generation slab. I know dealers won't like the idea that people should hold off - they have hundreds of thousands of dollars of comics in these suspect slabs... and they need to turn them over... so, of course, they're going to twist themselves into knots to dispute this advice - but it's sound. I feel badly for the dealers, but for the time being, collectors should just not buy slabs. BTW, I have a lot of CGC slabs.

CGC has an uphill battle with this case, although, the defendants are the masterminds behind this scheme. Ultimately it is CGCs fault for not doing their due diligence to make sure it was the same book to begin with. If it was so easy to spot the with the examples, why didn’t they the first 400 times? It’s going to be interesting to see how it unfolds. The amount of reholders alone should have been red flags one would think. Just playing devils advocate.

I bet if CGC knew no one else would find these things out, they would proceed much more slowly in their pursuits. 2, this guy & his wife have been active since 2016, and were only caught in 2023. Two of many, many scammers still out there, unknown,.until collectors open every one of their slabs themselves to find out. I echo my previous comment, Boycott buying and selling CGC slabs for 2 years!

I cant prove it but I'm pretty positive my book was one of the ones stolen. I submitted a perfect condition Batman Adventures #12 in July of 23. For months, we kept getting "in processing" emails from them. Finally, 2 weeks ago, they told me they lost it. Just an apology and an offer for company credit. I told them to pound sand and wanted a check. Still haven't heard back. I'm done with CGC forever.

8:45 So these goons also sold the tampered books directly to customers??? I feel like that means we're going to need to see a list of those 2000 books submitted. Not that CGC needs to receive those books and pay the affected buyers (like they were duped by the reholder), but those books could be tainted and those buyers eligible to seek damages. If nothing else it really does mean folks need to scrutinize their slabs for tampering, especially if you did business with these goons.
