Fun fact; some of the games actually establishe that a lot of gangs like to haze new members by having them pick a fight with Kiryu because they know he’ll beat the shit out of him but won’t kill them.
The glowy thing around him is his heat Aura. it illuminates as his heat bar grows to indicate when he can use his more devastating actions as well as influence a few other things. The symbols in the top left that change are also meant to be his fighting styles that you can swap on the fly. 1. Blue - Brawler 2. Pink - Rush 3. Gold - Beast 4. White - Legend (Dragon) There are also some heat actions which can take place if Kiryu is with an ally nearby.

theres actually more heat actions not in this video that can only be done with as a tag team. iirc, only kiryu has allies to do them with. i recommend checking them out in your off time if you're curious. majima does have 1 unique heat action that can only be done when during his escorting battles, though.

Brawler(Blue aura) =Basic boxing-ish style 2. Rush(Pink aura)=Quick and nimble, great for evasions 3. Beast(Yellow aura) =Super slow but hits hard, object interaction based stance 4. Legendary( White Aura)= A stance later usable forever in Kiwami(Reboot of Yakuza) and where that ear hold to knee move comes from. It's called Essence of '88 in future instalments except for Like a Dragon. Also, the violence in this game series is as PG as you can get, meaning no heads explode or any type of dismemberment.
