I have also this same experience I opened a demat in 2012 and made good amount of profit from stock market. I brought a 7cent of land and build a 980sqfeet home without loan. I think that next 20 years for India. In my opinion Indian mindset changed a lot. That reflects in MF industry. Still only 10 per cent people in India participate in stock market. So imagine the potential of our market.

You can invest from outside India as well, even if you are PR/Canadian citizen. If you are planning to come to India, then you don't have to research about that. Settling in India & investing in the Indian Stock market are 2 separate decisions, imo.
