    Welcome to Cuba! We were very excited to be here but got the worst first impression of Cuba. But we decided to don't let us down and fight them back. Scammers are everywhere in the world you just need to know how to recognize them and know how to deal with them. Don't get scammed!
    Did you ever experienced some scams and where?

      I'm glad you realized quickly that these guys were scammers! I've been encountering people like this since the 70's. The first one I met was in Cairo, but they're everywhere. We just recognize them and don't get discouraged, or blame the regular local people who are nice and welcoming! (I've had locals point out the scammers to me before.) I'm glad that you took the time to really enjoy Colombia without worrying about posting! You need to feed your souls and ensure that you are enjoying yourselves.

    There's no reason for a complete stranger to come up to you in the street while pretending to be your friend. I don't like how this individual forced you to interact with him by accusing you of not liking Cuba. I'll be in Havana next month, and if anyone starts following me around for no reason, I will reach out to a policeman.

    What a beautiful place to stay in Havana. Not sure why but this episode has a nice fun energy. I'm already really enjoying your Cuba experience :)
    Looking forward to the next one.
    Best wishes, James and Kim

I'm out of here!

    Too bad you have to be on your guards at all times, especially when you're on vacation. But this is unfortunately common in places where it is difficult to make a honest living. We hope the rest of your trip goes well.

    I loved Havana. It’s hard for us Americans to get there- we’re not allowed to travel there directly from America.

      Really ? I didn’t know that

    • @Jaggerbush
      @Jaggerbush Год назад

      Yep. It's been that way my entire life. We have to fly in from Mexico or Canada and fly home the same way. You can't get a direct flight to Cuba. For about 2 years we were allowed to go under Obama but then Trump rolled that back. I was there during that short time when Americans were allowed to travel there. It's exotic for Americas to have been to Cuba.

    Always hard to know how to deal with scammers. My best guess is use whatever Spanish you have and make friends with a Cuban woman, maybe ask her to guide you about. But that will cost $$ and you will lose some freedoms. I hear that life as a Cuban is very tough, since the USSR became the Russian Federation they lost a lot of subsidy. Average salary $200 per month, I heard. Be careful. Love, D.

    • @KristynaRomain

      It is hard because they're friendly at the beginning but after you find out that they're just trying to trick you into a scam. You're right. The life in Cuba is pretty tough and also it doesn't help the fact they're trying to scam tourists. But the country is very beautiful and the scammers are absolutely everywhere. Thank you Dave!

    This video is so helpful! We are going to Cuba in a couple of months. So you had your Tourist visa at the airport before Havana? We are going from Guatemala to Havana passing from Mexico City. So I didn't understand the thing about the drone, did they keep it? We have one and we are a bit afraid!!!

    • @KristynaRomain
      @KristynaRomain  4 года назад

      Hi! Yeah we got our tourist card in Bogota in the airport. Unfortunately they took our drone because it’s not allowed in Cuba. They will keep it, ask you many questions. Maybe you will be lucky! What kind of drone do you have?

    I travelled to Cuba for a mo th in 2017, iv been to alot of countries but Cuba is definitely one I would return to, its so different to everywhere iv been. But I did find the scammer very annoying at times, one day I was walking down the malecon and a black Cuban guy asked me where I was from and I said I am Irish to which he started talking in ancient Irish to me to try get money from me, the people bringing you to restaurants is very common I got done a few times by this but all in all it was very good place and I will be better equipped for them the next time I return

    Hola Señor
    , dos Mojitos por favor!
    Unless the rules have recently changed, the entry into Cuba was easy AF. I've entered through Varadero a few times and no questions asked. This Visa thing that you talk about was also not required, but that was coming from Canada, so maybe different rules.

    • @KristynaRomain
      @KristynaRomain  4 года назад

      Exactly!
      Really? Maybe for Canadian people but for us we had to have tourists cards for sure. They would let us go in if we don’t have them. It’s probably different for many countries.
