I REALLY love the magma wyrms, the idea of a slightly humanoid, grounded dragon is just such a cool thing to see in motion, not to mention they stray away from gas-like fire breath and instead shift to spewing liquid rock at you. They’re just cool as hell
Fun fact They were people
All hail magma wyrm chads
Honestly, I prefer the standard breath attacks over their "upgraded" versions. They're faster and cost less fp. If they do less damage it's hardly noticeable and in my opinion, being able to cast in the air is a fairly niche attribute. I do love placidusax's ruin though. A perfect finisher spell.
i agree.
i prefer Dragonfire over Agheel's Flame because of the former's simplicity, ease of use and cheap FP cost. besides, i promised myself i'd keep Agheel alive.
Same; the normal breaths carry hard w/o having to fight dragons. They're cool, but the base versions work just as well.
the upgraded versions can be cast while in the air but cannot be charged while in the air. So they are inferior in a sense
for your first breath of a fight you can use the named one, for followup breaths its better to use the base ones yeh
@@squalltheonly They actually can be charged in the air, but for some reason only when in your right hand or dual wielded.
I personally really like the ice breath spell, it’s like a kooler version of ice stomp, and does really decent damage and seems to proc quite frequently, it’s especially useful in the Melania fight, once she hits 2nd phase, you can dodge her falling flower move, and then just spray the ice breath at a safe distance, pair that with the unlimited FP physic, and you can deal a decent chunk of her health before she stands up, another kool thing is the breath attack will actually stun her pretty well too.
and it works insanely good with swarm of flies because you can cast swarm first and then borealis you will freeze the enemy swarm will unfreeze it and borealis will freeze it again in just one charge attack
Ice Breathe got me through that fight. Would even stun her out of her op move when she lifted in the air.
I use Borealis mist and follow it up with Smarag's Glintstone Breath. Malenia dies to that like, in two full bursts and it's the reason I was able to beat her in only a few tries. Basically, she kills herself whenever she does her Scarlet Aeonia and leaves herself vulnerable to my long, super damaging Incantations.
I really feel like these should have hyper armor during the breath attack itself. They have a long casting windup, which should be the opportunity for an opponent to stop you, then once the actual breath starts, you cant be knocked out of the attack. If that seems a little overpowered, reducing the speed at which you can redirect it oughtta help.
I like the physical attack dragon incantations, they have hyper armor and the dragons maw incantation does a ton of damage and usually knocks opponents down
Most were patched to have extra poise. But I think thats the thing about the game: they dont need super armor because the game has that as a stat.
The frost breath deals the most damage and applies frost for 20% extra damage, and the fire breath is cheaper and can be buffed in more ways than the other breaths (+fire DMG buffs)
There is a talisman that buffs breath attacks and if you use dragon seal that’s even more so you could buff frost breath x2 so I agree frost breath is nasty damage wise
@@KC_604 The Roar Medallion has no effect on Dragon Breath spells despite what it says. It only effect roar style Ashes of War.
I agree. The ice breath is the go to for me
The glintstone breath does the most raw damage, iirc but yeah frost breath is great for applying that quick frostbite but after that one use, might wanna use the rot or glintstone breath.
@@dragoon3219 wait Frfr? Cause I been tryna use it for the dragon roar attacks🤦🏽♂️
Pro Gamer Move for using the high-cast time incantations: bring a weapon with the Endure Ash of War. For about 5s (iirc) after using the skill, you get a HUGE boost to poise making it really hard to get staggered.
Great idea except this doesn’t work at all.
I think if Placidusax' Ruin worked like azurs comet where it's just a straight up beam that doesn't wildly flail around, it could be considered the incantation equivalent of it. Also try using Theodorix's Magma with the Stonebarb cracked tear, I haven't tried this myself, but using the tear with black flame ritual seemed to cause almost an infinite stager loop.
I normally get about 1.2k damage out of PR actually lands, the shockwave gets people away from me, but if the didn’t get hit by it, then they can get up close to U and deadass punch U out of the animation.
Going with an arcane build, is actually great to be able to use dragon incantations with low faith using the dragon seal, as to get some use out the mana I have on bosses that are immune to bleed. So the basic rot and frost breath, alongside Frenzy burst for PVP and bleed flies are the 4 spells I always use.
Try to complete Millicent's questline, and then kill Gowry at his shack to get Flock's canvas talisman! Way better for incantations than the standard faithful canvas talisman. Btw keep up the good work guys I always enjoy these VEDEOS!
I just found that talisman myself yesterday and left a similar comment 😂
You're a god damn lifesaver
Flocks is crazy good. I got this last week. It's amazing for incants
Thanks for your awesome videos, you are THE MAN, i have been carrying this Dragon Hearts all the time without knowing where to use them.
The lava breath can be combo'd from other fast incantation for a quick cast. Best one in PvP imo.
This might actually make it useful, literally nothing else about the incant is decent and was confused why it was in the video in the first place. It seems to just be a bugged clone of its predecessor spell that doesn't allow jump casting.
dragon maw is really good too especially against thicc bosses. usually causes most enemies to stagger and you levitate when casting so little enemies cant hit you. another is greyolls roll which if you cast while surrounded can melt crowds and it gives debuffs
With the magma you can also free sim it up to shoot it further if you want some space to get them off. Stronger single enemy bosses or just higher end mobs this works to launch the magma at them, and then run in for a jump attack or thrust whatever you prefer.
The magma breath can be spell combo'd after catch flame or the first beast magic spell to make it much faster
Not anymore they patched it
My main problem is that, other than Ekzykes and maybe Greyoll's, the rest feel so underwhelming in most situations. Even in my arcane caster build I used just those 2 plus _maybe_ whatever specific breath the opponent was weak to if they had a glaring weak spot. The damage on Greyoll's is underwhelming but the debuff and fast startup are very convenient, and Ekzykes is just the same or better damage as the other breath spells *with free Scarlet Rot,* which adds a ton to its damage numbers.
Also, as someone else mentioned, Placidusax's isn't a Dragon Communion spell and doesn't get the boost.
Borealis (frost dragon) is really good too, fast frostbite build up, combo it with Ekzykes and it melts
Borealist, Smaraghs, and Dragonmaw are amazing. Dragonmaw covers situations where you cant get a full breath attack off and just need a huge single hit - very early into the animation you have hyper armor, which, so far in my experience, nothing has been able to stagger me out of. Borealis and Smaraghs have the benefit of them both dealing magic damage, so you can run magic-buffing stuff like magic wonderous physic and talismans, and buff both of them. Smaraghs also has massive range on it. And no, Ekyzykes Decay is not "the same". It deals considerably less damage than the big hitters, agheels flame and smaraghs. In my testing it dealt like 15% less damage, while also not being buffable by any wonderous physic. It is of course still excellent against anything affected by scarlet rot - but there's no reason to keep using it after you apply the scarlet rot when the other ones do way more damage
@@GxGNoir My assumption was Rot Breath (and Eky) deal physical damage and ennemies tend to have more physical resistance (at least on the one you tested it). I'm lazy but a simple way to test it is with 'Flame, give me Strenght'. But yeah, I only use Eky and Frost Breath (don't have find Borealis yet). The basic fire one for group of trash. I didn't play around Claw and Maw because they are have very high FP cost.
@@kiorodjirane8517 I just tested this and you are absolutely right - ekzykes decay greyolls roar dragonclaw and dragonmaw all deal physical damage. So hypothetically it’s possible to make a dragon build focused on physical damage, but I’m not sure if there are any talismans and wondrous physics that buff physical damage, so it’s probably still more possibly to stack magic buffs for borealis and smaraghs breath, than it is for the physical ones
They’re not underwhelming , faith spells are more defensive , hence why they heal and give defense boost. Stacking that and having ridiculous damage is a good way to have a imbalance game , if you want glass cannon play sorcery
my most used dragon incantations were Ekzykes and Borealis breaths, the rot + frostbite combo works wonders on bossess
Been using that since day 1 and I still use it.
Also the ash of war endure gives you more poise briefly, I use it while casting to help not get interrupted, it’s surprising effective :3
Do you know roughly how much poise you need before casting endurance for it to be noticable? I have casted with about 35 and still get staggered by most things?
@@merxanity1625 I have 53 with my character and poise with endure fine. If you want to poise through things wear armor with more poise. There’s also poise you can get from the wonderous physick too that makes a big difference
@@ILUVBHS yeah seems like you need 50 poise at least for most weapons to benefit from endure. You probably need less for larger weaps like greathammers and such.
@@merxanity1625 yeah that makes sense. I’ve been using a greatsword with it so maybe that helps me poise through things more
I swear the Glintstone breaths are so slept on. They do a ton of damage, look cool, and (if you run a hybrid build like I currently am) are buffed by Terra Magica. Same goes for the ice breaths. The combo of the two can lead to some hilarious damage. I killed Morgott in under 30 seconds the other day with these two spells, and I was only level 90! I thought it was hilarious
I did 22k damage on the rot dragon with glintstone breath on playthrough 5. Too clunky though so I switched builds.
I feel like most of the dragon breaths are great (I don't really like the laser however) as long as you are targeting a weakness and exploit a big enough opening. Also the debuff from frostbite is brutally effective. The big drawback is the huge risk and FP cost, but opening a boss fight with a massive hit and magic AIDS or frostbite is very effective.
Only lvl 90 lol
@@triumphoverdeath Lvl 90 is really not that high. Especially when the perfect averaged lvl for pvp is 150.
Yep.
Did the same yesterday at 90
You know, Plasidusax's ruin does some different things, if the lack of arcane didn't tip it off it doesn't count as a dragon communion incantation, and also doesn't get boosted by the dragon seal
Yep, I think it counts as a Dragon Cult incantation, so it should get boosted by the Gravelstone seal
it does get boosted still the only ones that dont are the cruble knights are not even if they are dragon like.
@@wolvestheincubus9523 nope it does not get boosted by the Dragon communion seal. Only the Dragon incantations, that you get from the Dragon church or cathedral are boosted by the dragon communion seal.
@@Mohamedalielmomo Nope. Its untyped.
@@wolvestheincubus9523 are you saying that the aspect incantations don't get boosted by anything? Because if you wear the crucible knight's armor it boosts the aspect incantations.
Great video and I agree, the dragon incantations need a reboot for sure; compared to other spells via INT or Faith, they fall short in being 'solid'... Kinks to work out I hope.
Really wish there was a Blood and Frenzied Flame breath just for the flexibility of it. Maybe in the DLCs.
3:27 giant getting his stanky leg on
Keep up the vids bro great good
Smarag's glintstone breath does magic damage, which most enemies in the game do not have high resistance against.
Borealis's mist inflicts frostbite, which deals damage and lowers the target's damage absorption by 20% and stamina recovery.
Both of them are equally solid choices that aren't inferior to even Ekzykes's decay imo.
But the best part of the dragon communion spells series, would be the flexibility of having access to multiple various damage types, letting you exploit the weaknesses of your enemies on the fly.
Plus they’re a good magic option for Arcane bleed builds.
Borealis Mist also does magic damage - it's buffed by anything that buffs magic damage. It makes Smaraghs and Borealis very good to pair with each other.
@@GxGNoir If Borealis's does magic dmg; that makes Smarag's super situational imo.
@@SurviveWasTaken I’m not understanding how that makes smaraghs situational?
@@GxGNoir unless something is weak to magic you would just go for frostbite procs.
I just got Ekzykes decay and Ho boy. It’s a sweet feeling throwing up scarlet rot after being in Caleid for so long.
they work best in boss fights with a summon to take aggro to let you get the cast off. Also the decay spell is not just the best dragon incantation it's one of the best spells in the game period.
just what I'm looking for thank you!
Honestly I find the breath attacks better for support than than anything else but the melee incantations like dragon maw , dragon claw and greyrolls roar all get hyper armour and the roar is really good for getting people in pvp
For the lazer breath(not spelling hes name) it will be easyer to jump cast as you stay in the air and can avoid some attacks also that breath is funny enough the best vs other dragon because it take them awhile to start ataking you and the breath will stager them so you can cast it twice without being interrupted and on ng+ i manage to do over 20k on the rot dragon (it was mainly because of the bonus dmg when it got stagger) and from practice most of the time you need the wind up and 1 swipe and most would be staggered and if not the other swipe(from right to left) will stagger 100% making the last attack 100%to hit but I will that if you go with it is best to try poise build with it but not sure if it would help to not e staggered by any attack
The flame where you go high in the air is really nice
Borealis' mist is also useful for frostbite damage. I tend to run Ekzykes and Borealis get the rot damage going then follow up with the frostbite
wrong order, do borealis first to debuff the enemy by 20%, then followuo with the rot
Dragon incantations are both super fun and can be super frustrating. Was in the sorcerer city in Caelid and got completely wrecked by the mages. They cast so fast it was impossible to get any spells off. But other that that it is super fun just watching enemies melt away in a cloud of rot. ETA: the dragonclaw one is pretty good for certain situations.
The slap and the bite incantations are quite nice too, they have poise and deal huge amounts of damage. The slap can even be cast twice in a row, it can help against faster enemies.
comparative to fp they are great and can be chained very good
Yea i'm surprised people aren't talking about those, especially the dragonmaw. Was hella surprised when i saw the damage it did.
@@ashenloyce plus the range
Placidusax's ruin isn't a dragon communion incantation (I believe). There is also the gravel stone seal that boosts other dragon incantations that aren't Dragon communion incantations.
So the thing with Placidusax's is that it comes out faster than any spell in the game, I think it's faster than almost any way of doing damage period. So if you just use it as a finisher when someone is low on hp, it's actually insane in PvP. Otherwise, it mostly depends on how they react
The magma breath is great for large bosses. It seems like it stacks stagger at an insane rate.
The dragon incants you get without eating hearts are not buffed by the dragon communion seal. And the initial explosion of Placidusax's breath staggers human enemies and comes out really fast making it a better move for PVP.
Awesome video, which armor is that by the way? Looks nice
Now on bosses you should always use freeze to cause frostbite..then go with other dragon breaths or any skill do more damage
Dragon maw actually hits harder than most of the other dragon incantations especially if you charge it. And it's small AOE can deal additional damage to other mobs.
I love dragonmaw because I tank through just about anything when using it, very slept on dragon incantation.
U CAN CHARGE DRAGONMAW?!?
I was just looking for a vid like this after patch last night
You can cheese the magma one by leading it to the octopus just before it and they will kill it for you you can sit back or sneak some attacks from behind
Not sure if you knew or not but the upgraded magma breath attack you can do twice in row the second attack does a slam attack to spread more magma and more damage
With 62 poise you can tank hits,i tested this against radagon c:
Nice video
It'd recommend Flock's Canvas Talisman instead once you've gone through Milicent's questline to get it. The Faithful is definitely a good starter, but Flock greatly raises the potency of incants! Otherwise, dope video!
Smarag's Glintstone Breath(Magic Dragon) got best DPS and you can combo with Borealis's Mist(Ice Dragon) to proc Frost Bite to make 10% more damage and you can hold other Dragon Communion Seal on other hand to stack the weapon buff. check the build in syrobe channel
Also use the roar medallion. There is also another cathedral of dragon communion in limgrave. Go through the coastal cave to get there.
The roar medallion does not effect Dragon spells
Dragon claw and Dragon Bite do have hyper armor, and you can use the rock shotgun incantation from beast cleargyman to speed buffer cast the claw, its still easily rollable, but people who try to retaliate and trade lose the trade usually, and the claw has a slight tremor to it that also deals damage. The bite hits harder but is easier to dodge, but it lunges further. Are they meta? No. Can you surprise and kill people with them? Yes.
Nice . But for the full damage can you tell me what's the best seal for those incantations and what's the best talismans specially for placidusax's ruin incantation ??
fun combo i landed yesterday by pure chance was swarm of flies into scarlet areola. free aimed my areola cast just when the flies were staggering, was slightly off but wouldve been a (near) oneshot if i got the full explosion hit. now 70% of his health was gone xD
Can u do a video on all the different seals and the benefits/situations to use i.e. claw mark, dragon communion seal, fingers etc
I'm currently doing a semi-dragon incantantion build and i can say its one of the most fun if not the most fun build i've done. I say semi because the incantations take quite a while so i have other faster incantations like giantsflame and lightning spear to "balance" the build because a pure dragon build is not very viable as of rn imo. But if you can land the dragon incants the damage is so satisfying and worth it.
The breath tends to be best as an opener, use the scarlet fog to hide your next attack and keep them on their toes
You can use the plasidex ruin start up as a finisher since it's a near instant explosive start up and kill people at low health from the start up blast
Magmawyrm is a firebreath, so it can be boosted by 1 talisman and flame strengthen me incantation that should boost it by almost 30%
what that armour set, please? looks great with the prisoner Griffith helmet. When I get to NG+ and can do my dual rapier build I have planned, I'm gonna cosplay as evil Griffith I think, might even wear the helmet as I started with prisoner.
I prefer the base Rot Breath over Decay, for one simple reason. Torrent. You can use it on your horse which adds SO much utility to it and makes it a LOT safer to cast when Torrent is allowed. It also feels faster and costs way less Fp
Placidisax's initial burst comes out in something around .25 seconds, meaning it is almost unreactable. Its good for a 500-600 damage burst to finish in pvp.
All the named flames can be cast in the air you just can't hold them to do the longer cast while in the air also the magma ball can be cast a second time for a faster cast
Really hope in the next balance patch they buff incantations. Or at least give them hyper armor after the attack has formed so you don't get knocked out of it by a rat nipping your ankles.
Agreed. That or make us float higher in the air, so we can't be hit.
IMO, the breath spells aren't really intended to be a "main" spell since they scale with Arcane (aka. status spamming). It seems to me like they're designed to barf up a solid chunk of damage as support to your main status spam (bleed, frost, poison etc.), such as when a boss needs to be pushed into phase 2 or you need a strong finisher at the end of a fight. Hence the very high FP cost and why most of them cover a vast area.
Im surprised no roar talisman is mentioned for this, as it includes Roars and Breath attacks (including dragons breaths.) I also personally prefer STR/ARC as opposed to Dex/Arc both due to less people playing it, and the greatsword for it being really cool. Not to mention it feels way more "Dragon Knight"-y to use a greatsword.
I tried the Roar talisman and didn't notice a significant increase in damage.
think combining with the resolve ash or iron jar would be good?
for the record the dragon claw incantation has armor. not a whole lot but you can usually get it off against some light blows
@RageGamingVideos: so just a heads up the Placidusax's Ruin is Rumored to actually not be part of the Dragon comunio school, but is part of the dragoncult school.. well acording to flaxlife wiki that is.
The thing with the magma one is that you can shoot it twice per cast if you press the spell again will fireing the first shot
Agheels, fire breath, and magma are the best by a long shot with blessing miracle, flame grant me strength, and fire scorpion talisman I'm cranking near or over 4k per cast
Again for everyone out there you can stack Faithful and Flock talismans together. They aren't restricted. I am not sure if this unintended or not but they do work together.
Do you keep your stats in NG+? Like say the base HP is 500 but I have 2000 when I beat the game, do I keep the 2000 or does it go back to 500?
nice vid
Isnt there buffs to make weapon tink off of you? Stuff to increase poise? So just use all those and 2 hand the catalyst, jump in the air and cast.
If you click R1 or L1 again with Theo Magma it throws another wave of magma absolutely beautiful at the very least what I hope for makes a huge magma pool and can be thrown at same target or another mid attack
would the tear that turns you metal enable you to poise through interupts??
greyoll's roar isnt too bad in pvp right now especially with everyone trying to rush you down using rivers of blood but this one costs 75 fp :P
I keep running into people using madness builds whenever I help out friends who are barely starting out
The claw can catch ppl too. Not the first one the way faster second one.
I’ve been trying that one out and while it is great, if the enemy gets hit by it right when greyoll starts roaring they’ll just get up and come in to hit you before the animation is over for a free hit. That goes for pve enemies and other players. Unfortunately it doesn’t do continuous damage it’s one hit and done for each individual enemy regardless of how early they get hit by it
Hey. How and why do they float in the air while casting? Thx
Boreali’s mist should be on this list, arguably the best one
Agreed
What set was that you are wearing at 5:16 and wear can I find it?
What blade is that? And where’d you get it? Thanks in advance
You missed the fact plasidusax initial hit is the fastest attack in the game, coming out in 10 frames. It is basically impossible to reaction dodge the attack, you have to predict it, making it a fantastic finisher when they're at low HP. Holding it in your back pocket until the enemy has around 400hp or less it's almost a guaranteed win.
You can get a better version of that talisman by killing gowery in caelid, I found it yesterday there's also one by killing one of the troll bosses that increase roar and breath attacks
The only dot you can have from those skills is rot? There is a dragon spell for poison?
I love the pole blade, but I just swapped back to Faith because I miss that sword and board action. I might go back to an arcane faith build in the late game, or maybe just a bleed magic build.
I just swapped from a mostly faith build to dumping everything in arcane, and it blows my mind how good the scaling is with the dragon seal? Like, I have the minimum stats for my faith spells and I easily have more damage w/ arcane scaling than just going straight faith, but now I can do massive damage with some arcane weapons, it's really nice. I would def consider arcane/faith for a respec if you get a chance!
I believe you can actually double cast the magma breath one
Do frost rot magic in that order. Like a tap tap blast. The rot may finish the job before you get to the magic. Blood swarm is a nice good tracking arcane slow travel that you can get quite a few flying while you reset for another breath
my go to is swarm of flies, rotten breath and the eye lasers.
Does the talisman that speeds up spell casting help?
What is that dual blade weapon you're using?
What if... you had Ironskin on while you using these skills? Any skill that has you up in the air and vulnerable to being knocked out of the animation, plus Ironskin potion.
Wear a lot of poise armor and poise talisman when you casting it, you can somewhat tank.... eh.. maybe R1 small weapons attack.
What armor are you wearing here? It’s fantastic!
Does poise affect casting (sorc & incant)? Or is it just for weapons?
The higher your poise the more hits/damage it takes for you to be stopped mid attack
theyre only good to initiate a fight, drink the flask with unlimited mana and +20% magic boost, and then use the ice breath to deal massive damage and debuff all enemies, then use your other spells or weapons to fight whatever is left
You can combo the magma one from faster incantations. I hit people All the time with a bestial sling into magma breath.
Ekzykes's is strong I agree, though you shouldn't sleep on Borealis's Mist and Smarag's Glintstone. Borealis's Mist is great for a burst of damage and frost built up while Smarag's Glintstone is great for a huge burst of damage as magic damage can be insanely boosted in this game. I do hope these incatations get the cast speed boost from Radagon Seal in a patch in future as that would be a huge DPS increase, though as a side note if you have two Dragon Communion Seals with one offanded even without upgrades and both Faith Boosting talisman the damage is insane. Add the Magic Scorpion Talisman then Smarag's Glintstone is a true dragon's breath attack.
Interesting! I just started New game Plus so I could go get an additional seal to make it easier to apply buffs without switching, are you saying that you get a damage boost from just holding an extra seal?
Yep, the damage boost stacks and this is one of the only seals you want to cast from and apply the boost to the select incantations so you may as well double down.
if you aim the scarlet rot at the ground it will spread out in a cone shaped aoe
I’m with you on canceling options for the incants but hyper armor would be op
You can stack the Glintstone breath ones with terra magikus + magic scorpion charm + your wonderous physik magic damage to give you ridiculous damage xD
The ice and magic breaths are also very strong because you can use talismans and crystal tears to help increase magic damage.
And terra magikus xD
borealis mist is also viable since it does frost damage and when frostbite procs it does a lot of damage
Hey Community 😊. I Got a question which one is Stronger Agheels Flame or Theodorix Magma?.
I like the jump scarlet breath, the frost jump breath and The laser
I would like to see the numbers for the magma and placidusax with “flame grant me strength” popped
I also read in elden wiki that Placidusax dragon doesn't increase the 15% damage from dragon communion seal passive
