I've completed 8 missions in 4.0 I've gotton the rewards for two, and those missions took hours to complete. stability is the ONLY thing they should be focusing on, content is worthless if it's inaccessible
It's crazy how different everyone's experience is with these patches. I've completed a good 30-40 missions with some issues here and there but not much. Made 3M to buy a Vulture and have made another 1.5m with the vulture. For me, this has been the most stable and consistent SC patch I've played.
@@paraplegicpirate4729 I had a good experience for two missions of doing cargo. after that, I completed the delivery of the third and instead of the items going towards the mission they just went into my personal inventory, then they started spawning 10x times as much cargo as the mission called for, and now it just doesn't work at all, I've done bounty missions and killed the target, and the mission never counted as completed even when manually submitted. it just acted like I had the objective still, it's like once you get one glitch, it just snowballs.
@@paraplegicpirate4729 I could you a tip for which missions worked, and which are not worth even trying, from more active player. :) For me, in those few hours i could give 4.0, I completed 1 VLRT bounty (was an introductory one but not for fee) and new ones never appeared, then I could manage to complete few cargo runs (buying my own cargo, not missions), then I've hit MIC-L5 which stopped responding (can't land, can't launch, ship with cargo locked inside the station, shit! lol). Visited Pyro ofc, said hi to Citizens of Prosperity (thanks for that luminalia gift girls!) and Head Hunters, seen a dude soloing Polaris (but before the scan, I thought I was done haha), aaand that's pretty much it. I just don't see missions we seen in 3.24, stationed at NB, and I don't see them anywhere else either... only bounties (for players, no thanks), mercenary to defend a ship which never appeared, cargo missions and salvage missions. That's it.
@@Rythblaqk Yeah it's certainly a bit all over the place. On of my issues is that the cargo elevators don't work in the area I've been salvaging and my other option with a decent price is orison but the shuttles arent working either so now I just have 1+m off RMC sitting in my depot until they fix the elevator. Still nothing game breaking, I just have to wait for my payout
I think all gameplay loops need to be developed before the game can call itself being in "beta" phase. Beta should be about improving stability, not adding core features IMO.
We will never see a "beta" phase. Because SC has to maintain a playable game for the backers it lives is a place that no other developing game does. It isn't feature complete so it can't be call a beta now. Yet it has much more detail and polish than any game in alpha level development has. The typical alpha phase would have the featureless checkerboard maps we see in some of CIG's videos where they are testing unreleased features. So Star Citizen is in a kind of alpha/beta development phase because both phases are being worked on at the same time. I expect we will go straight from "alpha" to released because there won't be any beta level development left to complete when the alpha development is complete. But this is just my opinion and I expect people to disagree with it.
Honestly I wish they would tone down the advertising until the game is in a really playable state. There are major game breaking bugs being suffered by a good portion of the player base and brining new people in will hurt the game at this point and that concerns me.
This is a major concern for the game’s reputation. CIG advertise that the game is playable, but then they’re quick to remind everyone it’s an alpha when new players find out there’s no finished gameplay loops and what little gameplay is available is a buggy mess.
Getting pretty tired of hearing the word mainstream used to describe SC. Nothing about the game is mainstream. A universe sim with a complex economy, flight model, death penalty, etc is the antithesis of the "respect my time I'm too busy to play" crowd. Mainstream is the opposite of what has been sold, marketed, and pledged for over the last 12 years.
I think there’s things they could change to make playing the game more convenient. They’re starting to. Ex/ spawning in hangars. Direct access from the hangar to allow for immediately offloading and selling of goods for traders. Stuff that makes sense in game and decreases wasted time. But by all means go ahead and waste more of your time staring at a wall waiting for something.
@@gioscott1177 Sure, if "more players" = more sandbox/virtual world enthusiasts. If it equals more casuals who result in watered down systems, no thanks. Also, 500 devs and nearly a billion dollars in financing isn't enough? Really?
@@gioscott1177 One city? It's actually most of the state of FL afaik. In any case, 2 billion is completely absurd. Cut out the PR/HR/marketing and it's probably half that.
I disagree. Meshing and 4.0 are more than player counts per server per shard. Its the data traffic from the client to the game server to the myrad of network devices, application servers, databases, routers that are supposed to make things work with multiple data centers in a global game. CR talked alot in 2012. its 2024 and they still don't have the network tech nailed down. Years old bugs, doors, elevators, clipping, no markers, no QT, can't nail down a flight model, desync, inventory, etc and broken or undeveloped gameloops persist. As a backer I'm dissatisfied in year 13 and on the other side of the coin don't want him to stop either.
@@quarkedupphoton236what's worse is server meshing isn't new. It's just a mix of chunking, sub diving chunks (dynamic server meshing), and distributed processing.. which again. Not new. The fact it took this long to implement existing tech and saying it's something new and never done before is just ridiculous lo I've literally done distributed compute of a physics engine in chunks on my GitHub in 3 projects. Just Google my username DevL0rd
Yup, lot of people are trapped with that atm so hotfixes + full server restart to restart everyone's chars is desperately needed so people can even play the game again.
Hangar ship issues, elevators taking you to random pads, missions not existing and if you’re lucky to get them they aren’t reliable, QT’ing a short distance only to be taken far away from your plotted point, and yes the black screens. It’s not really good. Weee, we got pyro which is full of gankers and griefers. Yay. Hooray for Hollywood.
yep. I tried playing today retrieved my f8c it gets destroyed while coming out of the hangar so i call in my vulture instead same issue. I just top right quit game to desktop and go play marvel rivals. Game is a buggy mess dont want to deal with 1-2 hrs of getting out of a hangar to play
@@Astelch Similar problems today here as well. F7 wouldnt come up the hanagr lift, pulled the F8 instead and F7 went to destroyed and had to claim it again (Fifth time now that its done this and had to be claimed, havent even been able to fly the damn thing yet this patch). F8 came up and hangar floor decided to nope out as I was trying to get into the F8 and dropped me and the ship to the depths and dead. Woke up in hospital, went to inventory console to rearm and crashed to desktop... that'll do for today i think...
Yeah, this is about where I'm at... tried doing some commodity trading today. Loaded up my ship with several hundred-thousand AUEC of cargo, then the server crashes as I sit in the pilot's seat. The server comes back, but the ship disappears. When I pulled the ship back up to the pad, it was half inside the pad and was destroyed, and all the cargo disappeared... This patch really needed more time to cook.
That's why I stay away from the jump gates until CIG implements capital ships patrolling the area for griefers and gankers...plus global is worse then ever Pyro.
I've got ganked few times. Went down against 2 guardians but managed to take one of them down so I count that as a win. Someone attacked me while shields were down in NAV, managed to shoot him down afterwards. Flying a fighter and have upgraded my components, it feels good for a person who enjoys PvP! Also helped someone unload their cargo and secured the airspace for them!
Bro, development has been accelerating for more than a year now. In 3.19, I had been most places in the game at some point since I backed in Oct 2014. In 3.24 I think there are more places I hadn't been than had been. Now we have Pyro. My casual completionist gamer self is struggling to keep up.
It's possible, I supose, depending on how many people have been moved over from S42 to SC. There's so much in terms of systems and features that needs to be added before moving from Alpha to Beta.
I think next year is a bit too early for beta. There's still quite a few core features still missing, and that's something that really needs to be sorted out in the alpha stage.
CIG have had twelve years and hundreds of millions to develop Star Citizen; we don't need endless new features right now. We need the game to STABLE, all existing features to work and finish the damn roadmap they promised over ten years ago. Once that is done, working, and stable new features and stuff can be added. If you need a refresher go look at the roadmap, we should have had a dozen star systems by now and 31 additional ships that are still " in concept ". And before anyone claims I'm a hater or negative Nacy, I've put over ten thousand into pledges because I want this to be a reality; that being said CIG needs to improve or this will never be more than a cash grab ship store.
I´d love it if they dedicated a year to playability. To me, that would be a mix of bug hunting and stabilizing, filling in features into all those placeholders and resolving problems from older iterations not working with new developments anymore. It might not be all that flashy but would probably go a long way in keeping people playing. sometimes it is really hard to feel any understanding for the parts that should be basic functionality but still feel like barely functional proof of concept experiments after years of operation, like solid ground, mobiglass apps or working inventories
They shouldn’t call it a Beta if they don’t wanna receive more „hate“ than they already get bc a Beta is a working game that is not that defined not a buggy game with lots of partially working new stuff. So please still call it an Alpha version.
I really don't think anyone cares at this point how they're classing it. Hiding behind the "early access pre alpha" for the failures and bugs has worked so far, why change it now. Any time there's a bug players can just keep coping and defending it by saying "it's in early access, what'd you expect"
Star Citizen is definitely at the point where optimizing is necessary. The player base they have at this moment is more than enough to push this as a top priority and will only bring more players into the verse.
As someone who recently started the game a few days ago, in-game tutorials would go so far to put this into the mainstream while keeping the gameplay people love
SC needs to be able to carry 100 000 players concurrently min at any one time BEFORE even thinking of going to BETA. This is because of the number of individual pledgers/citizens already signed up and paid money as well as the notoriety of SC will bring an avalanche of new players WHEN SC goes BETA. Being able to host 100 000 concurrent players min without any nonsense, black screen of death, falling out of the planet, let alone lag or frame rate drop is the bare min BEFORE Beta. Have a sense now CIG is rushing for 1.0 release because of pressure from investors (who cares about normal joe pledgers... investors who matter...) and possibly avoid a possible class action suit, especially under EU law. Unfortunately I have bad feeling about this...
I think we are just missing hacking, exploration, and science in terms of major gameplay systems. Once these are in, it'll (probably) officially be able to go to "beta" for refinement. But this game has such moving targets when it comes to these things, so who knows?
I've been struggling with 3.2.4, been trying to do the Save Stanton Cargo missions, with Cargo spawning in asteroids. As soon as I arrive at the defence mission, the ships dead in about 30 seconds.
Seems like (from a user point of view) most of the issues aren't directly server meshing - just tangentially related. Transferring between servers has been pretty smooth in my experience. The hybrid crash (black screen) is its own server, so it sounds like it's a usual server error - just on the hybrid - compounded by a display issue. Knock on wood haven't had a black screen in a few days (about 4-5 hours of play per day). Did have a couple of server errors and inventory issues (cargo disappearing transferring from hangar, making salvage boxes going very slowly on Vulture, etc). Server errors recovered nicely though, and the inventory issues seemed to be an isolated incident.
I don't know why everyone says the Guardian QI has upgraded power plants. Can't find that anywhere in the sales stuff for it, and the specs say both have 2xS1 powerplants.
I want more missions that are scripted and unique, such as the 890 Jump Mission. We need more of that, on different types of ships. I also want to see more mission chains, as in one mission that directly leads into another, with bigger payouts for completing the whole chain.
Playability to me integrates all current features together with NPC interaction in a stability format. Integrating new features as they go is fine but the current implementation and integration stability should be the priority for “playability”
I love the idea of them pushing more towards a more playable experience. I hope they look at adding 1-2 more systems before the games turns more into a beta type game.
Second reset today to get out of Klescher. Still don't have missions in Stanton. It started out great until I walked on the ramp of a blown up ship at a bunker after completing the mission. My ship was destroyed immediately and the guests next to me opened fire. It sucked ever since.
There is a lot to do, but if they can get to the pount where there are a decent number if mission givers, and not just missions on the mobiglass, for all the gameplay arcs, it will be a massive step towards a "Beta" release
I keep running into a bug where it treats me as being downed but I still have health. Happened after being picked up and a another time after using a med pen from 40% hp
So what is the pile dream end goal of server meshing if Chris Robert’s had a magic genie? If it’s all players on a single shard, could a single system handle half of all active players at one time without looking like an overpopulated mess? Is there enough room for that? Basically all computing power and network issues aside, is there a comfortable upper limit of players per system?
Been stuck out of the Preview with a error 30018 on Xmas and error 60030 a day later to present. Feeling a little let down by CIG lately, but maybe tomorrow will be different.
Hasn't CIG always called it "Early Access" though? I remember seeing lots of videos that had some sort of watermark saying "Early Access Alpha." As far as I can tell, the Guardian and QI have the exact same component slots, so you can upgrade the base model to the same components as the QI. If they want to justify the difference between the base model and the QI then the base should have an EMP or beefed-up scanner or remote hacking thing or such.
I am actually hopeful again finally. The push towards stability is needed after such a long focus on Pyro and Server Meshing. Now that those are in place they can be tuned for stability and playability.
Requirements: No progress resets, no server crashes each week with weekly maintenance windows for reboots, stop falling through planets/ships/bases, no major economy exploits, all intended major features work without game breaking issues, all in-game ships are operational without any issues/glitches, security systems that are in place to protect players work properly.
I don't know if I would call the hangar spawning thing a feature. As far as I'm aware it was just a workaround because the trains are a pain to use with them deciding to skip the transit refactor.
The wild variety of people having no issues to people having every issues is so strange. I have had mostly no major issues. Nothing like what some others are having.
I know the AI crew is years away (post launch) and they are kinda leaning away from a full crew on like a Polaris, but I wonder what they feel about giving everyone a single companion. Wouldn't bog down the servers too bad and would be a great step toward testing crew.
I can’t wait!!! I have been with this since the start and seeing this go to beta and be playable like never before will be a dream come true!! Seeing what 1.0 will bring is going to change so much!
If they only work on bug smashing and optimizing then I feel we are fairly close to having a real "game" feel. There are already several profession gameplay loops and the FPS AI combat missions are alot fun. I also really liked the save Stanton missions. Really brought whole servers together. Star Citizen is looking good!
im currently having an unplayable experience, I literally dont have a single mission marker which sucks, but then also my zeus and some other ships dont have a hud, and my general chat is either not there or i cant type in it... so pretty fun. but im excited to see what they can manage in the upcoming updates.
I think playability means no more game-breaking bugs that we could expect every play session and more more depth to the progression and economy side of the game
Absolutely think that if the general glitchy-ness and bugs can be brought down to sub bethesda levels, star citizen will be a fantastic gaming experience. The potential is clearly there.
I don't believe they have listened to us on the Master Modes issue, Not if they are going to lock us into SCM speeds. That is what we Don't want. We want the Choice to go fast even if it means crashing into a Space station.
I don't think it's in a good enough state for them to start advertising heavily honestly. Not even the live build is very playable, let alone the play test. For years they've been shooting themselves in the foot by not focusing on optimization, playability, and bug fixes. At least they're starting tof focus on this.
This game has the potential to become way more mainstream if they iron out bugs and performance, even more so if SQ42 is a big success. It's looking exciting!
The only issues I’ve had with 4.0 has been trying to log in during the weekend. It took way longer than usual and eventually timed out. I came back a little while later and tried again and it worked so not much of an issue really
This was my experience tonight: 11:50 Open Game 12:00 Spawn in 12:15 Get to the hanger and have my ship claimed (for whatever reason) 12:20 Hanger is completely bugged, ship is impounded for parking and I'm "repositioned" back to the spaceport 12:01 File another claim 12:03 Spawn ship and same shit happens 12:05 Switch server to AUS 12:15 Spawn in 12:30 Do the whole song and dance to prepare for a salvage mission 1:00 Try to do several salvage missions; they're all bugged. 1:10 Ask in global chat for advice and get pointed to a 20 minute video on how to salvage 1:30 I'm going to bed, and got nothing done. 1:45 rant about it in this comment. This is the experience 50% of the time. One day I'll have almost no issues and others I want to refund the game because it's shit and wastes hours of my time.
The first three days for me were smooth as butter, now its a buggy mess its a slog to get anything done. Load times are long as heck. Eager to see these get fixed
By industry standards it stops being a pre-alpha when 95% of the intended gameplay features are at tier 0. This is the reason they are cutting almost everything out of 1.0, so they can claim SC is in "release" status to check a box even though the game would still not be considered anything more than pre-alpha at 1.0. There must be real concern for them to do this bait and switch.
When are they going to bring in exploration missions,at the very least it should include scanning and surveying nav points, which is perfect for planet and asteroid belts etc. That way you can do jobs without spoiling the major exploration features for later.
I firmly believe the answer to the Scorpius Antares vs Guardian QI is to fix the Antares. Let the Antares pilot control the EMP and quantum dampening when flying solo. Make the Antares genuinely more performant when a copilot steals back the toggle switch and Big Red Button. Give the copilot as much as possible to engage with so he doesn't have to silently nurse the vacuum in his heart from not having the company of a quad turret. That poor caged human... Would it be enough to add a "sophisticated" copilot-only power management system that radically boosts shield performance, EMP recharge time, and the like?
Yeah I think the concentration on stability and playability has more to do with knowing the funding model will collapse if the funders cannot play whats being put forth as a live build. They can call it an alpha all they want. There does hit a point where they have to acknowledge they are taking money from people to fund development and at least until recently were advertising it as ready to play now. All of these feature update patches are great and all, but when your alpha testers cannot play the game and then get ignored when they provide feedback its not going in a good direction and will drive people away for good.
More playable for me is a focus on stability. No more being killed by bugs like falling through a planet, QTing into a planet, clipping through anything. Dealing with things like rubber banding, shooting through things, not spawning, spawning improperly, etc etc etc. I don't really care about "new gameplay." I'd much rather see all the above accomplished and then move onto polish and quality of life stuff. Calling ground vehicles in cargo elevators, revisiting EVERY single ship currently out and updating them for the new cargo, inventory, and future planned systems. Full rounded permissions system rolled out for multi crew vessels, allowing for things like a whole group of people logging out on ship, then logging back in and being able to use the ship, regardless of owner (dependent on permissions). I could go on but that's a start...
If a video game is in beta, it is "feature complete", which is why Chris Roberts calling Squadron 42 "feature complete" at CitizenCon 2023 was such a huge deal. Just off the top of my head Star Citizen still needs the economic system, base building, and starbase gameplay, just to name three features, added. Don't expect Chris to go on stage at CitizenCon or publish a Letter from the Chairman in 2025 calling the game "feature complete".
I'm not having too bad a time, but two things that have been happening repeatedly are ships not spawning correctly - i.e. they are half submerged in the ship elevator and jank around before vanishing and needing to be reclaimed, which is only really a problem if I left anything on board the ship like cargo or gear etc - and who would do such a silly thing as leaving gear in a ship you've stored! It's ridiculous that I can't trust a seemingly simple mechanism - ship retrieval - to work without destroying or disappearing my ship half the time! The other bug has been mission-related - arriving to defend a ship that is already destroyed but the mission is still running, or doing a bunker mission where it won't complete because some of the dead 9-Tails are registered as still alive and Crusader Security are just standing around pouring fire into the corpses, or taking a PVE bounty mission where the bounty never shows up - but lots of his friends do - and after killing half a dozen ships the mission still won't complete.
Thing is. To really consolidate the game they really need to close some of the game loops. Law and bounty hunting, fleshing out Klesha and making penalties mean something. Exploration. Base building and crafting. It’s new content but it’s needed to conclude current content. Plus the backlog of ships still needs to be addressed.
When it becomes a Beta? I have taken a step away for about a year and a half now because i know its not a live service game. There are not many games that can have you take off on one planet, fly in space, land on a station, or another planet, without loading screens. I can only think of No Mans Sky. Playing Starfield really highlighted to me how cutting edge Star Citizen actually is.
yes PLEASE more playability....i have a friend who's main account got stuck in a shard (i think a few thousand players as well) to the point where he made an alt account JUST to play the game and CIG still haven't fixed it...i mean yeah holiday break but still that is REALLY frustrating to have your account locked in a shard and unable to play and test...
Merc'd my way to 400K and flipped it with rented mining. Found one of the new ore's. It's not finished, usual state where things don't load all the time. Not fallen through the planet yet and only got stuck once. Ship did fall through the hangar though, but the elevators are much better. seems smoother and more stable generally.
I love Starkov. The contested regions. It is so refreshing to have a gameplay loop. And also the ship rewards. It was the biggest turnoff for me that the only way to get ships was to grind money and save on spendings. Having a superhard but faster alternative of that is awesome. There is a state, when you have money for everything, expect ships. So the only goal to do anything is to save up for ships, and you are stuck for weeks for a goal that doesn’t reward you at all for a long time, so the only way was the soulless grind. This starkov loop tho is fun. Also the new ingame prices. Rockets are not just jank to throw around for free, they feel more like an investment to shoot them now. It made them more “real” for me somehow. Ammo is not at hotdog price now, and meds are more expensive too, so… it is actually worth it to loot now. And the best: you can loot armors and weapons to bags. It is SO much of an improvement that you don’t have to do the jank all the time with the tractor beam and scu containers with anything bigger than a spoon.
Thanks for the analysis! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
So stability for me is all their implemented features actually working as intended. Yes also bugs being fixed and the rethink of spawning because that is t that hard to work on and is long overdue.
Watching star citizen while getting star citizen ads...while looking at my fleet. Yeah we are definitely now into early access. Tbh at the stage we are now at I would say its an unofficial beta now. Large player count with near constant feedback to the team with 2 systems available to explore and live in.
I can't even get into 4.0 at this time. For the last 3 days, I have been getting the infinite loading screen. I have tried all the recommendations and even uninstalled and reinstalled to try to fix this. I can't change server because it says that it is locked out because the avatar is still active in game.
I know there are still several huge hiccups in terms of crashes and ensuing player unstow problems, physics issues, non functioning missions and more, but this morning I have had the most amzeing server performance experience since long. Cargo grid snapping was syper responsive, inventory as well, + the "booting" of multitool attachment happened in fractions of a second, medical tool manipulation was super snappy; The response times overall have never been as swift as now. Though this might have been on a fresh server and they deteriorate over the course of days (if they don't crash due to other issues). But Its showing much promise if they can fix the game over the next months. I do believe they'll focus on these fixes when the holidays end and then it's full steam ahead to adding some content and quality of life improvement. I hope that 4.1 will bring outstanding stuff that completes things promised last year, like vehicle spawning on the freight elevator, engineering, life support, quantum flight rework (with boost). Al though I have the slight suspicion that they will bundle these feature with the introduction of maelstrom (for engineering and life support) and the new flight model (quantum rework).... Though the latter might be coming first ? Who knows...
I’ve been lucky to experience the main bugs that EVERYONE gets but not the really bad ones that some have gotten. But I can say these bugs are certainly annoying. CZ terminals with no interaction has been my main bug for the day
Definitely less bugs and more consistant gameplay and some slightly more fleshed-out gameplay loops thats what I think it needs for it to be more playable
What I would want them to do is pretty much what they are planning to do so I'm quite happy. Bug fixing and stability. The game needs to work and be playable with little/no issues. I want to be able to recommend the game to friends.
Beta seems kind of like what we are in now. If they can make 4.0 stable and performative, calling it beta doesn't seem that out of line. Might be nicer to have the other stars for 1.0 in game first though.
Server dependent issues that vary from one to the other, so you can have a great time, or the worst. That needs to change for even thinking of calling it a Beta.

LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 4.0 PREVIEW
Making SC more playable to me means increasing the amount of playtime between encountering bugs that either kill you or take you out of the game.

For me, in those few hours i could give 4.0, I completed 1 VLRT bounty (was an introductory one but not for fee) and new ones never appeared, then I could manage to complete few cargo runs (buying my own cargo, not missions), then I've hit MIC-L5 which stopped responding (can't land, can't launch, ship with cargo locked inside the station, shit!
That's it.
They say missions are local now so if mission markers don’t work then quantum to another planet and they should work as it resets!
Stability needs to be the main focus if they want to improve player retention
Nah. Meaningful game progression is.
And sales
@@JMGrimmProgression means fk all when you can't do anything for more than 20mins
I think increased playability would mean that there is going to be less bugs (especially critical bugs) and more stability of the game and servers.
Ya man the bugs are the reason I play this game less than 10 hours a month. The game encourages you to alt+f4 every step of the way.
I think all gameplay loops need to be developed before the game can call itself being in "beta" phase. Beta should be about improving stability, not adding core features IMO.
Beta LITERALLY means "Feature Complete" SC is anything but feature complete. They are messing with us.
You are an animal BG! Even prerecorded, releasing so many videos over the holidays to keep us engaged, is much appreciated! And Happy New Year!
I hope the playability focus for 2025 includes gold standard passes for older ships
My Connies need those 😂
Are they not going to need this with enginering? I know my 600 doesnt have anywhere to put in fuses.
@@wdy43di there's a big difference between a gold standard pass and just slapping in a fusebox somewhere
My Cutlass Black has gotten a engineering terminal and fuse box. I haven't yet seen physicalized components though.
To me playability primarily means being able to play without disruptive bugs and having engaging game loops to do.
More players = more money = more devs working on game
@@gioscott1177 Sure, if "more players" = more sandbox/virtual world enthusiasts. If it equals more casuals who result in watered down systems, no thanks. Also, 500 devs and nearly a billion dollars in financing isn't enough? Really?
@ GTA 6 budget is 2 billion and is making one city, not a whole universe, and star citizen is only at 700 million. So no thats not enough (;
@@gioscott1177 One city? It's actually most of the state of FL afaik. In any case, 2 billion is completely absurd. Cut out the PR/HR/marketing and it's probably half that.
i think its amazing that meshing is now kinda working
Not new.
The fact it took this long to implement existing tech and saying it's something new and never done before is just ridiculous lo
I've literally done distributed compute of a physics engine in chunks on my GitHub in 3 projects. Just Google my username DevL0rd
Account still bricked for 8 days now.. Playability would be nice ! lol
Yup, lot of people are trapped with that atm so hotfixes + full server restart to restart everyone's chars is desperately needed so people can even play the game again.
How did you get it bricked bud? Such a shame.
I think it's got a way to go yet but I hope this is the start of them moving forward at a more rapid pace.
The ATC error "... can't deal with your request at this time" keeps bugging me.
The game is like. "No. I can't deal with you right now." 😢
Cant wait for atc rework as its the oldest code in the game currently, should be with transit rework
Have a good new year, be safe if you're gonna party. 25 will hopefully be a great year for everyone
So please still call it an Alpha version.
alpha is first build beta is second imho for whatever thats worth
Unfortunately I have bad feeling about this...
cant wait untill sc becomes kind of playabale again, experienced a bunch of errors today when trying to play
Stability is going to be amazing if/when it comes.
This year I was ecstatic when I heard about store bought item recovery in game... then it never happened.
I think we are just missing hacking, exploration, and science in terms of major gameplay systems. Once these are in, it'll (probably) officially be able to go to "beta" for refinement. But this game has such moving targets when it comes to these things, so who knows?
Crafting, trading and base building are more important to the sandbox. We need a full game loop outside of sell shit and buy ships.
I’m glad to see the change in feature rollouts. Hopefully this means playability is way more consistent through the year
I've been struggling with 3.2.4, been trying to do the Save Stanton Cargo missions, with Cargo spawning in asteroids.
4.0 still unplayable, can't access personal hanger / can't spawn ships.
Do they have a wiki for what the hell all the flight controls do. I've been struggling to get it working right for days
I hope they fix the playability soon after the holidays. Hauling is a nightmare right now. The elevators rarely work.
Making this game more playable I feel is the most important thing they can do. Especially as it will probably attract more players.
Bupbupbopbop the starlancer belongs to me!
It becomes an interesting line on when to transition especially because it seems to vary by deveoper
I'm hoping that they focus more on making the game more stable and running smoother with less bugs. Then it'll be more appealing to new players.
Thank you for the updates. I found that the preview was pretty touch and go... especially with missions.
im currently having an unplayable experience, I literally dont have a single mission marker which sucks, but then also my zeus and some other ships dont have a hud, and my general chat is either not there or i cant type in it... so pretty fun. but im excited to see what they can manage in the upcoming updates.
I think a focus on hangar instancing and station stability for ship retrieval and entering/leaving the hangars would help
As somebody currently trapped in 60030 purgatory, I really hope the next patch comes soon, so I can be able to play again.
Yeah I have two accounts. One can’t login due to being still connected to a faulty shard and the other can’t spawn any ships.
Getting to beta so more people start following the game would be great but I don't think we get there until SQ 42 is out.
This game has the potential to become way more mainstream if they iron out bugs and performance, even more so if SQ42 is a big success. It's looking exciting!
I will never understand paying real dollars for a ship over just buying in-game.
The only issues I’ve had with 4.0 has been trying to log in during the weekend. It took way longer than usual and eventually timed out. I came back a little while later and tried again and it worked so not much of an issue really
I take the "a focus on playability" to mean primarily removing bugs and secondarily optimizations.
playability would be nice. Still missing features teased for 4.0 from the last couple citizencons, like EVA 2.0's inverse kinematics.
This was my experience tonight:
11:50 Open Game
12:00 Spawn in
12:15 Get to the hanger and have my ship claimed (for whatever reason)
12:20 Hanger is completely bugged, ship is impounded for parking and I'm "repositioned" back to the spaceport
12:01 File another claim
12:03 Spawn ship and same shit happens
12:05 Switch server to AUS
12:15 Spawn in
12:30 Do the whole song and dance to prepare for a salvage mission
1:00 Try to do several salvage missions; they're all bugged.
1:10 Ask in global chat for advice and get pointed to a 20 minute video on how to salvage
1:30 I'm going to bed, and got nothing done.
Thank you for the informations, happy new year! 🎉😊
I hope we can really get Early Access (and the playability that come with that) by the end of 2025!
Would be interesting if CIG actually starts a beta branch before the 1.0 release.
I was having a good time - if not a little buggy - but now have the dreaded 60030 error. No ability to login now. Reminding me of the 3.18 experience.
If we got 0 features in 2025 and only got a more playable game, I'd be extremely happy .
Server dependent issues that vary from one to the other, so you can have a great time, or the worst. That needs to change for even thinking of calling it a Beta.
