Blue Skies by Irving Berlin has two bars of C at the end of the second A section.

This is one of my favorite songs, especially as played by Arturo Sandoval, which would work great with this since he takes the melody on the trumpet. Well done.

Very helpful Shan! "The Very Thought of You" has that same 2 bars on the tonic on the final ending. In fact, when listening to the earliest recordings of the song, it starts with 2 bars of the I major followed by 2 bars of the I6!

Endings often do that so you're right, these can be used as endings too!

Thank you so much! Breaking things down for ourselves makes it less overwhelming and we can focus on what works for us at your current level as well as knowing what to aspire to next.

Shan, tthe minor 6th chords work as filler. However, they don't have any character or swag to them. They sound too plain.

What's the filler with the most swag?

It's ok if that's how you feel. For me, the journey was that I didn't use them much but then I fell in love with the movement possibilities. It felt a bit like getting to know the natural ingredients and changing my pallet.
