Your right! I went here as a kid and remember absolutely loving it at Sea World. These holidays I took my son and was utterly disappointing. My 12yo son said out of seaworld, movie world and wet n wild he said seaworld was by far number three.
Why the f**k did they have to close this, the Storm coaster is great, but this was 10 times better and went for much longer. They only have rollercoasters now, and this was part of sea world, now its just not right, what stupid person decided to close this, it was just too good.
I was one of the last people to actually ride this, they did close it because of safety reasons, The humans in the tanks that were on display as well as the little alien things started to react strangely, and since I went on this ride many times I noticed the changes. I don't remember clearly but I think what started it was that one of the alien things started to flicker and spark up, then it exploded and caught flame causing the other objects around it to fall into the water, it wasn't a huge fire but it was clearly something that wasn't supposed to happen. But since the ride had fire at the end we thought they were just changing things to make it different. Yup that's why lol. After we got off the lady working there was so shocked and told us to get up from the ride and closed the ride right after we stopped off. I wasn't actually scared when this happened because I thought nothing was wrong, the lady said they were going to fix the ride but they never did.
Having just done the theme parks with my 12yo son, it was great to show him what one of the rides I loved was like.. I've even still got the photo!! Thanks for sharing this!

I remember when I was younger we had a place at the Gold Coast and we would always get a annual pass, so every day I was down at the Gold Coast I would make my mum take me there for 2 hours everyday so I could ride this.
As a kid this ride terrified me. I was horribly phobic of the aliens from the movie Mars attacks. And my mother insisted on going on this ride. NOPE hated it. As i got older i handled it a lot better. But still that fear exists.
There is still this ride, it was built at same in movie park germany in 1996. but in 2019 it was renovated because there were already many effects broken and it came down because of that it look a bit different

yeah they could've built the storm somewhere else in sea world since there is so much space the sea world doesn't utilize.

oh my god i rode this way back in 2007, i barely remember it (except for the very end) but i remember it being terrifying as fuck.
This ride was so fun. The volcano part felt so real and it looked really big when I was a kid.
