- This month is 45 years of Sea World on the Spit on the Gold Coast. Here are some classic ads.
Sea World was founded by Keith Williams in 1958. It was originally known as the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens, which presented "water ski shows that combined comedy, aqua ballet and action". In 1971, the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens moved to land on the Spit. Major dredging works were required to build the new ski lake. A year later, the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens became known as Sea World with the introduction of dolphins, marine displays, a replica of the Endeavour, a swimming pool, licensed restaurant and gift shop. Extra additions over the next decade included the purchasing of competitor marine park, Marineland, and the transfer of animals and exhibits to Sea World as well as the addition of more shops and food outlets.
1975 - Sea World train opens
1978 - Viking's Revenge Flume Ride opened
1981 - Wild Wave Rollercoaster opened. (Later renames Thrillseeker.)
1982 - Corkscrew Rollercoaster opens (Later renamed Sea Viper).
1986 - Sea World monorail opened.
1987 - Waterpark and Lassiter’s Lost Mine opened.
1993 - Sea World is taken over jointly by Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow.
1994 - Bermuda Triangle opened and replaced Lassiter's Lost Mine ride.It used the same ride system but featured updated ride theming.
Sea World opened the 3D theatre Sea Dream.
1998 - Pirates 3D Adventure debuted at the 3D theatre.
1999 - Cartoon Network Cartoon Beach opened.
2003 - Pirates in 3D was replaced with Planet SOS in 4-D.
2004 - Shark Bay opened.
2007 - Sesame Street Beach replaced Cartoon Network Cartoon Beach.
2008 - Jet Rescue opened.
2009 - Pirate Ship closed. Corkscrew rethemed to Sea Viper.
2010 - Bermuda Triangle closed :(
Castaway Bay opened.
2012 - Dinosaur Island opened.
2013 - Seal Harbour and Storm Coaster opened. Storm replaced Bermuda Triangle.
2014 - Sea Viper and Dinosaur Island were closed.
2015 - Sky High Skyway was closed and Beach Break Bay was replaced with Nickelodeon Land.
2016 - Vikings Revenge closes.

The white roller coaster is the corkscrew and now they have changed it to the storm ⛈ coaster🙃
Tbh there was really nothing wrong with the Vikings revenge flume they just closed it and it been abandoned for almost 5 years
Correct last time I went it looked abandoned and they have not even started fixing it
They probably closed it after the dreamworld incident
@@dolphinetlywhalesfootages3385 I have found new info since then but there was supposed to be a new attraction going there so they closed the flume but then they instead made the new Atlantis precinct and ditched plans and by that time the ride fell into disrepair
Sea World Australia currently has the 1966 American Sea World/Sea World America logo.
well i found a Currumbin ad from i think 1993 a Currumbin ad from 2008 a Currumbin ad from 2010 and a Currumbin ad from 2018
Wow I've never seen those Australian ads before. They're kinda very interesting. I haven't been to Australia yet but I'd really love to go there sometime in the future.
I'm sure this Australian theme park is completely unrelated to the American theme park chain which has a similar name.
