Hi Ang.. You can have 4 together .. it's important that you have at least 4 or they will just be scared and hide from you. I had these guys in my 55 for a long time. They grow slowly so they would be fine in there for a long time. Thanks for coming by - always happy to help!😁💘💦
That clown loach spine is pretty nasty...I’ve been punctured myself! I love this species. Great footage Deb, and as always, interesting and informative narration! 👍
Hi, Rus, It's nice to see you. I agree they sure hurt. They are a great addition to so many community tanks meshing well with almost anything. Thanks for the kind comment. 💘😁💦
Hi Rob... They are such funny fish. Fighting one minute and laying there looking dead the next!! You know I'm always happy to see you kiddo. Eat lots of chocolate I did!!😁💦💘
HI deb. Fighting clown loaches are rare sight. One of the most peaceful fish that i have ever kept in my fish tank. Its been 2 years & my clown loaches have never shown any aggression.
Hi Guy... I too have had these guys for a couple years and never any fighting. They are getting close to breeding size/age so I'm not too surprised. Since this video they have settled down lots. Have a great day!!💦💙🐟💦
My two 3 inch loaches have been doing this for a couple hours now - at first I thought it was mating but the graying and lip-locking seemed unusual - great informative video!
nice loaches! i have four with a school of rainbows, two geos, an eba and an angel. recently they have been harassing all the fish!! tons of hiding places and water parameters good. any thoughts why? should i add more? they are in a 55 grow out
Hi Mike... welcome. Nice to meet you. Your tank sounds beautiful. I don't know why they would do that. A couple more couldn't hurt.. the more the merrier with Clown loaches. However, a group of four is a good enough group. The tank setup and size are also adequate as long as your filtration is enough. I have mine a 12" 2 diameter ABS pipe to hide in. They really like tight places. Maybe try that. Otherwise, it sounds to me you are doing a great job. I hope you share on your channel. Good Luck... stay safe!
@@DebTim Hi Deb! Thank you so much for the suggestions. Do I want more clown loaches? Yes. Should i? no lol even though these will go in a 240 later i’m afraid if i get more we might escalate the problem as they may team up and do more damage. alternatively they can just keep to themselves too. i might grab 2 more. the abs pipe is a great idea unfortunately i don’t like the look in tanks 🤷🏽. keep up the great work. maybe one day i’ll share my tanks 🙂
I think of Clowns as kittens: biting, nipping, clawing one moment and then licking each other's wounds the next. Often they'll fade out (as yours were in the video) at feeding time if all go after the same pellet. I call it 'battle colors.' I've forgotten that about the tails - I need to go look at mine tomorrow. Another tidbit - the ones from Sumatra will have more red in the ventral & anal fins than the ones from Borneo. My group of six are 12 years old and 5-7 inches and very happy in their new 180g tank. (yes, yes... photos coming soon. I want to have more fish in there before the 'grand opening'. I'm actually thinking of making my very first youtube video - of photographs.) Loaches and eartheaters... the perfect tank!
Cavey!!! I'm so excited to see you photos!! Yes yes do that!! My clowns are almost 3 years now and yup they are like kittens. So funny and playful. I'm not sure where mine are from although they are retaining nice colour. I find often they fade as they get older. I can't wait to see your video/photos and whatever else you post!!! Have a wonderful week!!💦😁💘
HI Rob... it's so nice to see you. I was thinking about you just the other day. Saw your sticker and thought where have you been? Hope you are well. Thanks for coming by. It surprised me I haven't seen them fight before this either. Happy Easter!💞😁💦
That’s so funny Deb I saw my clowns fighting the other day to and was like wtf guys had never seen it before I have 4 of them in my 125 hap tank all is good now and they are some of my favorite fish to keep thanks for sharing hope you had a great weekend thanks for sharing ❤️🐟🐟
haha... Ry maybe it's spring fever?? lol that is odd. I do love them too and they seem to have settled. Thanks for stopping by. Have an awesome week!!😁💘💦
They are beautiful. It's always interesting to listen to you. You have a very nice voice. That makes everything interesting to watch. Thank you for a good job and sharing
HI Jimmy... They are a cool fish. Thanks for the kind comment. I appreciate all feedback - especially when it makes me feel great like this!!! Hope you enjoy your day!!💦😁💦💘
Deb if you notice one of them has a more reddish glow to his nose or face I'm thinking maybe this is some sort of mating ritual maybe one of them is in breeding form
HI Steve... actually I was noticing that.. but they both looked like they had really red noses. I was attributing that to their fighting. I'll keep an eye on that. Thanks for pointing that out Steve. Have a great week!💘😁💦
HI Ray... I have thought about getting a couple more myself. I'm sure little ones would do fine with the larger ones right? I hope you have a lovely Easter my friend!! ML💦😁💘
Your tank is absolutely nice and clean you are hard working on your hobby as I can see all fish in there are healthy. Love to see your other tanks too.☺️
HI Bruce, That's understandable. They get very reclusive if they are alone. They are social and need a group of 4 and they will be very entertaining. You should get him some friends. Thanks for coming by!💦😁💦
DebTim A CANADIAN Girl yeah....he's was the sole survivor of a pair I had for snail control. I never got another one because I switched to Yoyo loaches as they do a better job for me and stay smaller. They are gorgeous though!
HI Bruce.. that's a really important point. So many people get fish cause they are cute and then find out they get huge and can't home them anymore. That's when we get the animals etc that damage areas that they normally don't inhabit. Research before you buy... should be a standard rule! Thanks for coming by!😁💘💦
Great footage, mine been doing this alot lately. Have you ever heard the clicking noise they make when the eat or sift through sand, I just recently heard mine do that thought the tank was cracking 😥 Thank You for sharing, Happy Easter!🐰
haha PP... I have heard it. My catfish are louder though. It's really amazing that they do that so loud that we can hear it outside the tank. Have a wonderful week PP.. I'm always happy to see you!!😁💘💦
I love clown loaches and I think they look great as group. I have never really witnessed them fighting like this. Also thanks for the info, I didn't know about the gender differences. 👍
Hi Phil.. I have had these guys for a couple years already and had never seen them do this until now. Someone commented that if their noses are rosy red they are in breeding mode. That would be so amazing. Thanks for the great feedback. Have a wonderful week!💦😁💘
I added a 6th clown loach. It is 5” long and the biggest one I had already was 3.5”. These two fought for days until the new larger one finally submitted. In the end, no harm to either fish
Hi Ron... I just never thought they cared much for a position but I have a feeling they settle things quickly. Mine never fight but now maybe things are fine. Thanks for dropping by!!😁💘💦
thats true ... they have transverse spines in the eyes! my yo-yos usually fight, are 2 males and 1 female ... that's the problem! they live well in shoals of 6 to 8 specimens avoid confrontation especially if it is more females! lovely tank! 😁🇧🇷🐟🐟💦
Loaches are one of the funniest fish you can get!!! My Kuhlii loaches sometimes tangle up like spaghetti noodles!
haha... I agree Rob. They are a funny fish!
I'm the boss. No I'm the boss. NO I'm the boss. NO I'M THE BOSS! lol
😂😂😂
They are very active! And lovely! Thank you for showing my channel at the end of the video :)
HI D... my pleasure. I love these guys.. always fun to watch.💘😁💦
Thanks for sharing Deb, I love clown fish and have quite a few of them😊
Hi Krip... and I love chameleons.. have a looked at a few. If I got a reptile that's what I would choose!!💐😁💦💘
DebTim A CANADIAN Girl 👍💓
How many clown Loches do you think I can fit in my 55 gallon tank?
Hi Ang.. You can have 4 together .. it's important that you have at least 4 or they will just be scared and hide from you. I had these guys in my 55 for a long time. They grow slowly so they would be fine in there for a long time. Thanks for coming by - always happy to help!😁💘💦

I have 1 clown loach that lives in a hollow log. He hasn't been seen in public in months!
HI Bruce, That's understandable. They get very reclusive if they are alone. They are social and need a group of 4 and they will be very entertaining. You should get him some friends. Thanks for coming by!💦😁💦

The reason of such aggresion may also be beacuse of not sufficiemn hiding places. Laoches just love to eat and go to their hidings for sound sleep.
Hi Guy... thanks for your thoughts. I'm so happy you came by. Great information!💦💙🐟💦
