Just put a Jasper in my 2002 f150 4.6l a month ago. After fooling with my truck for years, it finally is running GREAT and learned alot. Ford engines last about 200k miles then crap starts. Looked at a 2007 z71, $16k and 30 day warranty before the jasper. Got a Jasper 3 yr 100k mile warranty and saved $8k. Great Engines.
Jasper is famous for their incredible warranty… Specifically because they regularly have to warranty an engine multiple times before one of them lasts.
Glad I watched this one, I’ve been considering a crate engine from ATK OR JASPER bc my 04 Suburban has 255k miles on it. Still runs great but starting to look at options. I haven’t seen any scenario that benefits these companies….yet.
I got a pre covid jasper SB 350 ctate motor in my 78camaro thing runs great/looks great and if something would go wrong its fully covered at a mechanic of my choice till end of 2022.
So, I need to replace the cylinder heads on my 1995 Ford F250 5.8L 351 Windsor, what brand or company makes quality Cylinder Heads ? I am aware of Edelbrock, but I'm just looking for a quality replacement, not turning it into a hot rod....
Im looking at a Jasper engine replacement for my 2014 Jeep Wrangler. I have heard nothing but good things from other Jeep Wrangler owners who have done the same. The 3.6 that comes in the Jeep Wrangler JKs are trash. Pretty much anything and everything is an upgrade.
I can buy a blueprint engine or a Chevrolet performance engine off of the summit racing website. Are either of those better than ATK or is their any red flags about those brands sold through summit?
@@phillipduran2576 yeah I'm going to check them out I've been thinking about prestige out of North Carolina they have a lot of good reviews and a lot of good
@@phillipduran2576 they only have oem stuff. Since my post about ATK I've pretty much decided on Prestige motors out of NC. Whenever I pull the trigger though. Just finishing up the 94
Well shit I'm about to buy an ATK for my s10 because it actually works with my truck. Who knew they had 3 different 4.3 v6 engines for 90s-2000s L35, LF6 and LU3
Jasper is fine. Recently ran into a couple issue but like always they are quick to make it right! Been using them for years however atk is and always been garbage but for the price of them you can’t complain
Had an aftermarket timing system failure on a 3.5 ecoboost Ford. Looked at aftermarket but after hearing horror stories and actually researching Fraser after I talked to them I ended up going with the Ford service motor. About the same price as aftermarket with all Ford updated parts. Remanufactured and warrantied by Ford. Having the local dealership install it as they are experienced and them doing it shores up the warranty. Moral of the story is that if I would not have put the Cloyes timing set in it the locating pin would not have broke off of the crank after 6 months. Would have had to pull the engine to fix the crank so just went with a new one. It was a gen 1 ecoboost and Ford fixed the component design that led to the initial timing chain stretch issue caused by cam phaser bleed down. The aftermarket companies have not.
Autozone batteries dont last like they used to. Thanks for the info. Dealers will tell you 1 qt per 1000 miles is normal. Scotty kilmer spoke on that too. My 3 series bmw uses 1 quart per 1000 miles. My old 5.7 chevy doesnt use any oil. Debating on 5.3L or 6.0 when i replace the engine in my Suburban.
I’m looking at replacing my 5.3 w same thing. I’m not concerned with big performance just reliability. 255k miles and still runs strong so maybe I will rebuild a junkyard 5.3 myself. Let me know what you decide.
I had an ATK 3.0 Toyota V6 put in my car. Wrong oil pump on it. Power steering pump required a stud on the pump to mount and the pump was a completely different design. Fast forward to starting it for the first time. It leaked oil out of the rear main bearing seal. New crate engine from ATK. Transmission had to be removed to replace the defective new oil seal. ATK wouldn't stand behind their warranty. Never again.
I install a ton of Jasper products. They are hands down the best out there. They have made mistakes recently. But considering all of the parts issues going on because of the issue that I’ll not name. They always take care of any issue and they have been extremely minimal. I definitely wouldn’t lump them in with ATK/VEGE engines you get online and at parts houses.
I agree, with jasper you’ll get 1 bad motor out of 10 and if you get a bad one, they not only cover the cost of the motor, they also cover the cost of the labor associated with swapping the new one in. Also very often when someone has issues with jasper engines, they fail to do a proper break in on the engine as well
I have atk, performance 5.4 (ford) autozone put 90,000 on it no issues so far and 60,000 on another velichle no issues this makes me cringe and no oil loss
In my opinion regarding the Ford factory engine. The way you maintain it dictates how long it will last. I have a 2001 Ford F250 with a 5.4L 2 valve and it has over 300,000 on it. Still going strong. Ive changed the oil/filter every 3000-5000 but I also ran 5w-30 instead of the 5w-20- ford recommends. Regarding remans you just have to do your research and choose a reputable company that has good reviews. Talk to small business mechanics because they cant afford to have customers coming back all the time for messed up engines. The big dealers dont give two cents about you. I heard Powertrain Products puts out a good product. And yes Jasper used to make a good product but seems like there having alot of issues cureently.
O'Reilly's sells Power Torque Engines, not ATK, unless they sell both. but im pretty sure its just Power Torque. Dont buy any engine unless it comes from Powertrain Products. Upgraded components, 5 year unlimited mile no fault warrantee. Covers free replacement, labor, towing, diagnostic, rental car.
I installed an engine for a subaru that was from them. They forgot to tighten the 2 halfs of the block. They did the first round of torque but not the second 90 degrees on the bolts. So oil pressure entered one of the case bolts right by the oil pressure passage and an oil leak appeared threw the bolt hole. They made me do 13.5 hours of diag to re seal the oil pump 2 times and then finally they said they would replace the engine. They covered 1200.00 of rhe labor. The total bill was 3700.00. So my customer was on the hook for the rest of the bill. Such a joke because it was clearly their falt. I checked the break away torque on the case bolts that can be reached without removing rhe heads. And the main crank bolts were 13.5 foot pounds and the smaller bolts were 7.5. Thats the first round of torque. They required another 90 degrees. It's so messed up that they only cover 50 bucks an hour even tho the failure what directly related to them. Not a part failure or anything. And assembly issue.
@@banshee100 Yep. We all make mistakes. It's what you do after that shows truley who you are. In this case, it's really messed up. The answer I got is that the customer paid for the warranty when he bought the engine. And they pay out 50 and hour. The end.
