One of the closest lakes to where we live before the water was low the last couple of years we fished it often when using bait I use the same things oftentimes that he uses but never the way he uses them I've also caught some huge catfish there when when using bait for trout and also sometimes spotted bass while trolling and not to mention some really large brown trout that lurk there as well I'm sixty three been night fishing Mother lode Foothill lakes All my Life not just in summer , I'm going to use that rig next time out thanks 👍

As deep as you want but you may need to construct your longer chords if you want to go deep. Each fishery may be different for the ideal depth.
