I've been using my new Thomas spoon lure in watermelon color, but lately a gold kastmaster with a pink power worm in the hook but I broke it half to get it to stay on the treble hook better.
Great video! It gives a new perspective on the fact that trout don’t only chase live bait and spinners, but more lures as well. thanks for helping me become a better fisherman!
I love brads' cut plugs! They have worked great for me over the last two seasons. have 4 different colors but have only got to use two of them so far. I agree with the comment about the hook / bait size / fish size ratio. But, if you can get these things deep enough to attract large hold over triploids or even brown trout, you are in business!!
I just rig it exactly like I would for kokanee. One small piece of scented corn on each hook. On occasion I'll use a small worm when the corn doesn't produce.
I've completely changed my fishing game with all of your tips. started consistently catching fish in ponds and lakes i had zero luck with before. I am definitely Addicted. Thanks guys
Hey Adam, what lure did you use that you were able to stuff with bait? I like that idea and have kicked around the idea of baiting up a lure but haven't found a good lure that I could bait up and maintain any kind of action. You have a great idea there. Brilliant minds think alike! 👍
Preston Ward the ones he’s talking about in this video. Brads cut plugs have a little chamber with a foam sponge inside. It has a little elastic retainer to keep it shut and there are holes on both sides of the plug so the scent can come out while you’re retrieving or trolling. I just got a few last weekend and they worked like a charm. Nice 2.5lb rainbow and another smaller one!
Not always the lure dude fresh stocker trout will hit almost any shiny lure. Finding the fish is the hardest part especially with how secretive everyone is. I will usually try a kastmaster first, then cast and retrieve a water bobber with worm/mousetail, and if that fails resort to powerbait, which kinda feels cheap to me but it catches fishies
Also, I’m gunna start this statement by saying, I love y’all and this channel. But Marlin.... if you keep losing more fish because you’re not paying attention to your rods. Imma take your fishing license lol
@@miguelchavez6685 He already had 2 hooks. Trout get weird at times. They will rush to the bait and just sniff it but not bite. The second hook swinging around snags the fish outside the mouth.
You boys need to to a video on boats. What to use, when and comparison. Suggested first one's. Give the different options and your thoughts. You're doing great work.
They work phenomenally, especially for the kokanees. I only have 2. Funny just today, I was going to order a couple more in Amazon, because they started to peel off, due to normal use, but right now I can't afford it. Totally recommended.
Rooster tails have always been my go-to lure for trout, stocker trout from the bank, wild trout in the high mountain lakes, trolling, doesn't matter. I want to love the Kastmasters but I just don't catch much with them, likely a retrieve speed issue, who knows. I just bought my first boat and want to give the KCP's a try ... they're hard to find here in Portland, too many people watching your videos lol ! I love how Marlin consistently goes through his entire setup, rod, reel, line etc. That really helps!
Just tried using Kokanee salmon cut plug with Brook trout and Lake Trout in Lake Superior what a game changer that was for different presentation. Placed top five in tournament. 😍🎣🐟🎣🐟🎣😍
My setup is good. I catch lots of trout with it trolling. First you have a three way swivel attached to your main line. Then your weight on it and you connect your braided litter. The leader is about 3-4 feet long and the that is connected to a ball bearing swivel. At the end of that swivel is your dodger. At the end of your dodger you have a 10-24 inch mono or fluorocarbon leader. Then I use Mack’s weeding rings, hoochies and the pink/orange cut plugs. I have caught more than 15 trout one day and only 3 came off.
I just started trout fishing and use panther martins and basic spoons. Only landed one fish so far, but have had several hits. Only been fishing a couple of times for about an hour each. In Oregon, Willamette Valley.
The kokanator with a worm trailer and some Special Mix smelly jelly behind a beer can troll is hard to beat on my home trout reservoirs.....but the Brad's Kokanee Cut Plug is a close 2nd! Fun to fish, fun to tie up, and I love the built-in scent chamber!! It a go to for sure!
I just wanted to say thank you for your great videos! I have watched several videos from other people and I always come back to yours! You are so down to earth and you take the time to talk about things on a level that anyone can understand ( not a lot of big words just simple English) I am inviting you to come out to Utah and I will take you to strawberry reservoir and we will catch some silver bullets
New to fishing and all your videos have been so helpful. I appreciate how you guys go into detail and explain it in a way that's easy to understand and stay with. Thank you.
What's your favorite trout lure to catch fish with? 🤔🎣
First 🎣
Good old rooster tail always works
Here in New Zealand, we like to use black and gold soft baits or my personal favourite the Daiwa Chinook 10 g pink colour
The rooster tell that cane with my trout combo when I bought it. Caught my very first trout on a rooster tail ever on it.

Just moved to Maine fishing has been different for me and these videos have been so helpful in catching trout
just started fishing trout, I would love to try these
I got my limit of 5 rainbows this weekend using a worm. I went old school 💯
The joy of fishing is figuring out what works best on that day then and only then does it become the favorite lure or set up!!
Caught more trout on a KCP one day instead of the land locked salmon I was chasing. Trout slayers!
I've completely changed my fishing game with all of your tips. started consistently catching fish in ponds and lakes i had zero luck with before. I am definitely Addicted. Thanks guys
That lake is the best lake for stocker trout honestly
I have never seen or used these type of lures, I will give it a try, thanks for putting new tackle in your shows.
I crushed 2 rainbows in 30 minutes last Tuesday with one stuffed with garlic and corn lol

Lure
Kcp's for the win. Trolling plugs is so addicting, use a sliding weight though, just like for salmon!
i have only catch trout with worms, no artifitial lure has got me a trout, ill try this one out and see if it changes my luck
Worms are the way to go but man, a size 4 or a size 6 Panther Martin spotted fly in black and yellow does a fine job for old hardware.
Been a big fan of the 3/16 Gibbs croc and panther Martin number 2 spinners.

Love watching you guys fish my homestate.

Gotta love trying new things
The fish you caught were hooked outside the mouth. That means they are coming right up sniffing and the wild action sticks the hook in their face.
Can't u add a smaller hook set to them
@@miguelchavez6685 He already had 2 hooks. Trout get weird at times. They will rush to the bait and just sniff it but not bite. The second hook swinging around snags the fish outside the mouth.
New to trout lures. Fascinating!
The reason why they're coming off so much on your plug cause you are not really fast enough
I have been using them for a year now!!!! I love them. I use them on a downrigger and a flasher. I use a single wide gap hook.
New to fishing, learning what I can here. Thanks for being on RUclips!
I’m gonna start using it for trout. I’ve only been using it for kokanee.
Keep it up guys. Also I want to try this now!
Wow really gotta up my trout arsenal. Love the educational content, keep it up yall!
Panther Martins are my ultimate go to’s... 👍🏽 Curious to give these a try tho!🤗
Great topic!
Good to see you out and about Braddah!!🏜🤙🏽🌵
Love the idea of the hinge to clamp the bait in. 👌🏻

You're doing great work.
Hi, what a beautiful lake you are on, I love your tutorials!
Experimented with the Brad's Kokanee cut plug for lake trout. Filled it with Kokanee eggs. Didn't catch anything but love the cut plug!

Sweet little bait. I usually use small apex lures for big kokanee.
Just got into the hobby and I definitely know the first lure I’m buying in my next pay check. Thanks
Great work Marlin! I use a bobber with a fly I tie with deer hair. Boom! Use what the others don’t - catch Steelhead with this set up also -
Going to take my 4 and 5 yr. old grandsons fishing soon. We'll definitely try these out with their starter rods.
Love the videos. Learning a lot about trout fishing.
Awesome to see you slaying some trout in your videos now !!

I just got a new boat. And I'm looking for trolling lures.
Threaded worm on a slow death hook
I have been catching tons of trout in small Kokanee using flash gear. But cannot seem to catch larger fish. can't wait to try this cut plug.
Ive used these in smaller reservoirs they work great.

I’ve learned so much from you guys THANK YOU. NOW I CATCH FISH EVERY TIME I GO FISHING
Can’t wait to try this out at my local lake
I like a spoon, but I'm old school , simple hook and worm will do 🤙 great videos
I like using live minnows and salmon eggs for trout. Spinners and smaller stickbaits work well too
I'm addicted to watching your videos! Try using a treble hook as the stinger.
Brad's cut plugs are the best, i have several and they really work.
Hi I love your vids I don’t ever trout or steel head but I love watching it
Went steelhead fishing on the clackamas yesterday, one down. Looking to do more trout fishing from a boat. Love the new tip videos!
Id love to try out that lure! My favorite is of course the Panther Martin

Heading out trout trolling next weekend. Usually stick to wedding rings, but I’m definitely gonna try this!
My go to bait for trout here in PA is a wax worm with some chartreuse power bait together
New to fishing and all your videos have been so helpful. I appreciate how you guys go into detail and explain it in a way that's easy to understand and stay with. Thank you.
I dig seeing Marlin do these tutorials, something about the main man himself doin em seems right.
