What's better original or jointed rapala?! 🤔🐟
Jointed with some Mustad hooks!
Before watching i already know its the original the non jointed one , but well ill watch you guys to compare :)! I hope im right because ive compared them too :P
you said floated was hit 2 times.. before jointed was hit the 4th
Ive used both from shore rigged to a water bobber on braid line with a 3 and a half foot mono leader and had some cathes. I used the water bobber as my weight not necessarily to keep it floating, it's a weird way to rig but it does work.
Rainbow cd-7 on any stream or river.
Hello, If I may so this was not a fair test. The single lure is smaller than the jointed, plus not the same colour. You should also ensure that the exact same length of line is out on each rod. Count the hits & not how many landed. Regards Stephen
Incidentally, my main fishing buddy prefers small Raps like you were just using for stream fishing trout and cleans up with them...out fishes me all the time. But, of course he has the uncanny ability to catch fish out of a mud puddle!
The good ol' rapala countdown is a SUPER underrated trout lure.
I cought a perch on one of those babies
Perch love it also. Oh and jack pike.
The countdown dosent float
Love these trout showdowns! Gonna make some trout videos soon too :)
My favorite lake technique is find the infeed creek and follow the channel to the deepest part.
I think the reason that the floating rapala’s hook up ratio is much higher then the jointed, is because the trout were fitting it in their mouth much better.
I speak as a catfish fisherman ... with my experience I can say that the J13 is the best ever, so the discussion changes according to the fish you want to catch
There are actually 3 Rapala contenders:
original floater, jointed floater, and the sinker.
There's also a suspending one too.
The sinker (countdown) is the best.
When bank fishing in slow moving rivers or casting out into the lake at river mouths, I've always done way better with a jointed lure for Kings and Cohos, haven't really tried them for Steelhead yet. Going to give them a try this spring
Good job guy!! Love joned Rap's.... I use all rap's for walleye fishing!!!
I think "Dave's Tangle Free weights" are non existent 😂! I can't find them anywhere.... But I'm in Canada....🤔
I always went floating rapalas topwater for bass. Nothing better than watching the big V headed straight at a original rapala. Always had more luck on a original than a jointed. Off topic but I'm going original all the way!
One time I was fishing a high Sierra lake right before winter and we were casting slow sinking rapalas from shore and we hammered them. We must have put back 80 fish before we kept a few for dinner. It was one of the best trout days I’ve ever had
Dave's tangle free are actually good weights I would recommend to anyone
The jointed lure is on the inside of the turn. When you turn the boat it slows the troll speed and falls deeper. Add a little more weight and fish them deeper at a slower speed.
Thank you for the video I will be trying out both of them out here on Navajo dam nm the lake is a little low but I'll let you know how I do.
I like those showdown with trout i enjoy watching them keep it up
Nice love the trout videos I would take original because of the hooks . Keep up the good work guys 👍👍👍👍
What sizes were you using? I have been river fishing from the shore with both types and been doing well with the jointed ones.
Where do you get the tangle free weights from
What color would you recomend for both the jointed and floater? Im new to teout fishing and fish for rainbow, brook, and brown.
How often do you need to replace all the line on your reel?
I'm from new Zealand and use both of these lures and do best with original rapala,
Thanks great video
Thanks for the video
I think the proof that the jointed got hit more, proves that the jointed bait is more gooder of the two!
Looks like battle ground lake. Awesome video!
I give lures real tests to see if they are any good or not. At much bigger lakes to and usually fish about 4 lures all day to really give them a good comparison.
WoulD jointer minnow work for trout?
I need to get out and do some lake fishing. Been doing a lot of other just not lake. Need a relaxing day. Amazing video as always!!!!
My man having a nervous breakdown when he goes 5 minutes without catching anything. I'm happy if I don't get skunked in an entire day.
Very nice video my friend, Thanks for sharing and have a great rest of your day and stay safe out there. 😁
Yeah let's go 🎣🐟🐡🚣♀️🦈
12:40 success success success finally can't go wrong with rapala lures my man thanks for sharing
What size is the non jointed? Thanks
For trolling the jointed for bank or just straight cast from boat the reg floater
Thanks for the honesty of leaving the 10 minutes of … it reassures me it happens even to pros… not just to me!
I have been slaying with the maglip 2.5 with some pro cure addicted salmon blend super gel....
Kayakguy406 Lauer what color?
Old standby and Old School rapala . gotta love that rod holder .
Some of the most fun I've had on that lake is casting a floating rap and twitching it on top water. It's a lot of fun catching trout on top water.
You guys should look into dynamic lures if you haven't seen them yet! Some of my favorite fishing trips were made with that lure! HD trout lure works great!
I’ve lost count of how many different fish species I’ve caught on original floaters. I’ve never had much luck on the jointed ones though. The front treble alway seems to get snagged up on the lip or my line when I cast.
What is your speed.? Trout are lazy. Try .5mph trolling. It works for me in Colorado in the big lakes. Love the rip on the dragline! Best noise ever!
I noticed your watch said noon. Around here the Bite usually shuts down for awhile around then anyway but at least it's a cloudy day so you got that going for you
F7 Flat fish have done me pretty good, but this year I'm going to dabble into trying some Rapalas and pop gear ⚙
Jointed recently killed it on a lake where I was matching the hatch of some salmon Smolt that were released. No weight pure long lining. 18” fat Cutt’s. Only issue was that the joint area got bent.
What size Rapala Original was used?
Thanks
Looks like your trout fisning i like mine - they go off and of the bite. i have not used the Rapa;as but have used Mag Lips and done well by them.
Started fishing broken back floating or polish in the seventies had a gold back and a silverback. In my opinion it is the was productive floating lure because you can retrieve it in many different ways. One way is to cast it and let it sit still until the ripples fade and then you can twitch it like an injured fish on the surface an exceptional way to get a predatory strike!
Have you guys ever tried the Eastern Oregon Lakes for German Browns?
Never had much luck on Rapala's when trout fishing. Roostertails and Kastmaster worked better for me.
RUclips fisherman: "its been 2 mins and no bites whats going on?"
Normal fisherman: " 1 hour and no bites, not bad 😀 "
I love the bite that he completely missed at like 4:46 in the video
I like the jointed personally, caught my biggest brown and rainbow on jointed rapala, both on the brown trout style
Nice program! Grettings from sweden
Which lake is this???
I love the stocks from the Lakewood hatchery
What sizes were you throwing?
Original all day! can't wait for the drop. Let's get a promo?
Were you using scent?
Good show!👍🎣
Nice Video 😁🤙🏼🎣
Check your hook points on the jointed. Sharpen or replace.
My favorite is the blue floater the bigger size
Man you are a trout god
I usually prefer to use regular minnow plug over jointed one and always regular one got nice result. However if loach lives in river or lake,I'll use jointed one because it moving like loach . Anyway it's interesting to see difference the way to catch trout between US and Japan.Trolling is not so popular here.
I've always used the mini fat rap by Rapala. I've caught Large and Small mouth on them, now trout will be my next target.
Im from VA. and we are not permitted to fish for trout with two poles at the same time, are y'all only allowed two poles ?
Some places in WA & OR you can use 2 poles.
Colorado you can use 2 rods if you purchase an extra rod stamp 👍
Rapalas always catch the biggest fish in the lake nice vid Marlin ,I'll be taking mine to North Dakota for walleye and small mouth next week baby fish on👍👍👍👍😜😜😜😜
Jointed rapala works here in Finland, Suvasvesi area.
Light angle is changing is whats happening . They go deeper to adapt to lighying conditions .
If I was there to catch dinner, the original. If I was there for fishing, not catching, the jointed. I wonder if the next size up on the floater would have been a better comparison?
N ice fish..Original!!! 👏👏
Floating. Oh and troll with your rods pointing directly at the fish. Less stretch when they hook up. Mount two locking rod holders. I'm a pro ocean halibut salmon guide from the West coast. I buciktail flies attachede to spinners. They eat them up like candy.
Why dint you count pulls on spinning rod that's what I do so you know depth
Brook trout love the original floater.
It seemed like the treble hooks may have been the problem (my having paused at 12:58 into the video) so I'd suggest trying inline hooks (VMC so your Rapala'a are still 100% Rapala) to replace the treble's. The inline hooks are quite a bit longer and substantially more narrow making it possible for even small trout to get their mouths around/over. It might just increase your hookup ratio!
jointed
Jointed !
Original for me. Bites don't fit in the frying pan.
OK, but there was a size difference here, too ... with smaller fish, the floating Rapala he used mighta hooked more because of the two treble hooks being closer together.
Awesome shot of the trout spitting the hook back at you like, "GTFOHWTS"
Nice video
Where was this
I'll take the jointed Rapala every time
I slay smallmouths with the countdown in brown trout color.
Best thing to use at battle ground lake is powerbait. Around 15-20ft of water and you’ll catch 1 after another.
NEVER caught a fish on a jointed lure. The wiggle sure does feel good through the rod. People swear by fire tiger Rapalas during the fall spawn because the action and noise make them so angry. Found more rescues washed up on shore than bought, so they’re getting snagged or bit and snapped.
Couple Things: You will ketch more Trout using a Loop Knot on your rapala, or a very tiny snap, NOT A SNAP SWIVEL, Also, Way to Go, using A LEFT HAND CRANK, Line counter reel. I DETEST, Right Hand crank Line Counter Reels, or Open face reels. What Brand is it, Okuma?? , Maby? You might really like AQUTICO INVISA SWIVELS, 100 percent Florocarbon; Note, use Loop knots at both ends ....Package says clinch knot; no way , they slip, come loose. Tell me your thoughts.
The f5 is the creek king. The vampire f5 kills!!!!! You're fucking welcome everyone! =)
You need to get some down riggers on that boat if your trolling with it a lot. I hate losing the fight of the fish as it fights against the weight on the line. I used to use lead line and it sucked.
The jointed shad is the best lure of all time
Jointed
Fresh Stocked trout will be harder to catch on larger lures when they are used to pellets.
Ok hey. When U made a left turn the jointed would slow down and that’s when u would get a hit. I do that all the time. If u put the non jointed one one the other side it would of gotten the hits too
I have also used both and done better with the solid.
My best luck has always been earth worms and salmon eggs.
Use Shad rap black back
trust me i use these all the time and when water is cold fish wont be far below the surface and you mentioned they were jumping , so i am sure you would have done better leaving 60ft of line out with no weight,,,those rapallas will go down a few feet and that is all you need,,,if they can jump for flys on the surface,,,they wont have a problem seing your lures 3 to 5 t down :) ,,, and if you want to get a little deeper , just use fluocarbone line and it will drop your lure a few more feet
Wow bgl has changed over a decade or two since been there
Floating, looks like it will be the winner.
