My father also used these for a long time and taught me to fish for bass when I was about 5 years old using one of these lures. Still to this day they are my go to lure for bass. I remember one time my dad thought he had a huge bass on the line until he pulled his line out of the water and he had 2 good sized bass hooked on the same rapala lure. He is no longer with us, but his teachings and his memory lives on and now I’m teaching my children the same things he taught me. It’s important to take some time and take your children out and do some fishing. Those memories will last forever. Thanks for the great video
For the youngsters that may be watching, remember to always squeeze and hole that fish by the lip as hard as you can when grabbing to remove lure. They'll shake and put them hooks in you in the blink of an eye
This was the first artificial lure my Dad taught me to use. I taught my 4 year old on one too and he caught his first ever bass on one. 36 years later and tournament fishing I still have one of these tied on everywhere I go. Works year round in Florida.
Great to see people still using the OG rapalas .They absolute fish catching machines .Especially the rapala original floater. It may catch small bass but a lake has giants ,you guaranteed a 10 pounder in that bait. Loved the video . I've caught plenty of big bass on it
Right on! Thanks for the response wildlife explorers. We actually have a river smallmouth video dropping at 3 pm today where we're using the Rapala Original Floater in size 11. Love the bait!
Don't worry Terry, we cry when we miss big bass too. 😉 lol What a fun day of fishing! I love fishing with floating minnows, nothing beats the original Rapala Floating Minnow! Excellent lesson at a beautiful location! Wired2Fish, you are awesome!
I live how on these videos while u guys giving tips on what baits to use u actually catching not like alot of other great content and information thanks you guys
Nice video. Caught many lunkers in my youth on number 9 original Rapala floater minnow. Slack line twitching makes for lots of flash . How are you able to throw such a light bait on Baitcasting Gear ? What size Rapala is that . Size 12? Thank you
I told people that my favorite bed/sight fishing bait is a suspending or floating jerk bait and they all laugh but the fish can’t stand it ripping over there bed
I'm a pretty stubborn guy and I've always seen these on tackle sections on stores but I refused to get them. They seemed too simple or gimmicky to me. I found one stuck on a tree branch and tried it and I got a few bites on a very tough day of fishing. Bass seem to really hate it, they bite it hard. I'm a believer now.

Very underrated technique that still works! Works great for spawners, great video and catches W2F!👌
~ 6:46 - 6:53...bass chasing baitfish through the weeds to the left...Koolio...love the OG F-13, F-11, and F-9 for clear water bass.

I caught my PB last season doing this! Such a fun technique!
Back to basics.
My favorite is the J-11. Same color in video!
Great minds think alike Donald!

The original floating Rapala is my go to anytime of yr in clear water
Got the three sizes of these in my tackle box , i def need to dedicate a full day of fishing this bait .
I love this lure I got a original floating lure myself and more videos like this please
rapala original floaters are one of the best lures for the whole year
Floatin jerkbait works well in the summer too.try it when the bass are blowing up on baitfish.

Cool. I like it. That's awesome I'll be trying this.
There will always be a spot in my tackle box for a few floaters
Absolutely, the original balsa minnow. The thing is so subtle and realistic in the water. Makes for a good topwater twitch bait too.
Do you play around with sizes, or do you have a go to?! Thanks for the video!
60 bass so far using this method for 2019. thanks for sharing my secret.
Did that fish roll on it?
My dad and I always did better with the RAPALA jointed minnow than we did with the straight minnow.
Next Level!
caught the biggest bass of my life 9lbs with this lure.
You let the cat out of the bag! You can throw these right along downed trees too and work it gently. Since it floats up, you dont really get hung up.
Cant we call it a jerkbait though?
Guess its different tho hmmm....
I like big girls on a Rapala.
missed a huge girl last night
