Panter Martin for me is the best lure for any fish. In my country you can catch everything with this lure: chub, perch, pike, balkan trout, rainbow trout...
Black and gold or yellow and silver panther martins have always done it for me. When I use spoons though it’s always gonna be a little Cleo over a kastmaster.
Bought the Kastmaster and the Panther Martin yesterday and fished them both. They were both a lot of fun to fish! Seemed about equal in the pond I was fishing. I catch WAY more with powerbait but I LOVE lure fishing. Didn't get anything with the rooster tails this time.
PMs are my go to trout lure, knew it would do great for you. Never used a KM spoon though, I use a Little Cleo 2/5oz same color as the KM, blue and silver, it does well too. Both have their pros and cons, but both are very productive. Great job as always Jordan, keep em coming.
I casted a castmaster beside a log jam and let it hit the bottom. I pulled it a couple times it got stuck. I twitched it to get it unstuck and it did so I went to rip it in and caught the biggest trout I've ever caught. It was almost 9lbs in a small river system. Panther Martin used to be my favorite river retrieve
Just found your videos and subscribed! Though I love the way you rigged your setup, I disagree with your splitshot placement. It will cause line twist. What I usually do is rig another short piece of line(6 inches) and add a swivel at each end then add your splitshot to this. This prevents line twist. Now, great videos and keep up the good work! You explain your methods very well! Cheers from Canada!
Panther Martin all day everyday. It is pi far in my opinion the single best lure to fish with especially in slow streams where there is not much current. You don't have to fish it as fast as a kastmaster would have to be fished.
@@ryan89870 what ever really, no like 2-3 oz balls, but like size 3 blue fox(?), smaller jerk baits, I just make sure to have 10-15 leader, gives me the chance to un-snag
I like that you can jig the castmaster and use it as a bottom bait as well as a moving bait. Always my go to if the Panthers don't work. You can cover more water with a castmaster too
In my opinion... I can't catch anything with the Kastmaster, and I jig it just like you did in the video. That exact Panther Martin is a killer. Just today, I crushed trout easily over 1 lbs, and my biggest was 2 lbs. Panther Martin all the way.
Really enjoyed this one guys I would have to say Panther Martin is quite a bit better in the waters I fish! Panther Martin, Pros: I would say a lot better for creeks easy to keep it up high up in the water column and out of snags and I feel like my hook up ratio is a little better too but could just be me. Cons: I feel like they could beef up the wire a little bit on the small ones at least it bends really easy, smaller versions also seem to have a hard time staying deep unless there is a split shot pegged ahead and I do not generally like to do that cause then it spins and tangles while casting, and of course compared to the Kastmaster lack of casting distance. Kastmaster, Pros: Of course you can bomb these also a bit easier to fish deeper water and still fish bottom, more versatile too you can jig it, reel it and do whatever you were doing in the video also. Cons: Really easy to snag in shallow water I also do not have a super great hook up ratio but that could also be because I fish a lot of super aggressive small brookies... So for me it would be Panther Martin but like you were saying it depends a lot upon conditions, depth of water, clarity of water, temp and multitude of other factors!!
I have always been a saltwater bait/ artificial lures, now slow pitch jigging. I was giving inline spinners as Christmas gifts. Your video showed me how to rig, retrieve, and catch. Now will go to a fresh stream and attempt for some trout & bass
I just started taking up fishing and your videos ROCK! I have been learning so much. Thanks for all you do. Out of curiosity, what type of boat do you have there?
I was blown away the first time I threw a Kastie around 1/4oz or so. I was getting literally twice as far from the bank as my spinners. I will say I like the Vibrax for casting distance too though.
Any reason you don't use BlueFox lures - Vibrax? Also, would be nice if you did a video where you explained why you'd use different options - spinners/spoons, dough bait/power eggs, trout worms/mouse tails, worms, flys, etc. - in different situations on a lake.
If there's a lot of stock fish you can add power bait to the hook on your lure and your guaranteed to catch a fish. I recommend releasing stock trout though.
I had No doubt that the panther would win. It's my favorite spinner as well, and the fact that it's his fav also swings it in the Panthers favor as he is probably more used to it and more comfortable.
Martin for me. Cast masters are super fun and work on tons of species. Inshore saltwater (30” snook on the cast master) beach fishing, same lure catching trout in the mountains. I’ve just been more successful on the panther. Love it.
I make lures and sent a bunch into you guys at Addicted. I make spinners that range from larvae type to Flying C's to wedding rings. Out fishing Panther Martin's is easy. Kast masters are top notch catchers, but in my opinion, there is just no beating the Super Duper in 1- 1/4" to even 1-3/4" inch. Gold or even gold prism are the best followed by Rainbow and chrome. If you already have Super Dupers, just get some lure prism tape in red, blue and green and cut your own prism pieces and stick em on. Even the small Super Dupers on ultra light tackle murder em. I'm 54 now and disabled and I have seen just about each and every "this lure is the best" video there is and comparison videos. I have no dog in the fight. I can only report what I have seen and my own life experiences. If I could only pick one lure/spoon type lure, it would be the Super Duper.
powerbait typically works better for stocked trout. lures are great for most wild trout. this isn't to say that one can't catch the other, but just what your best chances probably are. worms will work great for anything! it's all about using what the trout's primary diet is. good luck!
both are my go tooo!!! but if I had to choose one I would go for the castmaster. i like spoons (castmasters), over spinners reason being cast farther sinks deeper. but love both lures and they both slay
I've these competition videos. Panther martin for the win! I like kastmaster but never slayed with em. I have both of these lure you used today. Gonna bust out the panther martin more often
I've been using your trout advice when it comes to lures and spinners. Last evening I was up at the local lake and caught a stocked rainbow on my first cast with a rooster tail. Then nothing for 30 minutes and multiple lure changes and some bait fishing. Moved spots and there was an old guy next to me, we started talking about how finicky the fish were that evening. He was just leaving in his truck when I had cast out. I turned around to wave to him leaving and BOOM. 20 incher beauty on the line had a great fight I hoot and hollered man I was so happy. It was that little pause I made to wave to that made the trout nail it! I wish he had seen it! Had a great dinner than night. ( I bet Little is so disappointed every time you out a fish back in the water lol)
Love the enthusiasm, I'm glad I was recommended your channel. I know lots about fishing but I learn something new every episode from you guys. Keep up the great work.

Where I live, in the Sweet Home/Lebanon area of Oregon, my best producer is the pink or red Roostertail. Though I have to say, I had a pink spoon Mepps that was out producing everything this year until my son lost it in a tree.
For just straight up head to head I always reach for the PM first. But if I have small pink plastic worms I'll put one on a Kastmaster and hook up pretty much every cast.

Let's make it happen
Yes!

I would love to see this too. Do it guys!!!

There's much to be said about preferences in lures and confidence equalling success over the "which one is better" argument.
I’m a black panther martin kind a guy. It never fails. But the cast master finds the fish further down. I’m addicted
Mepps xd does both

Absolutely!!! PM has caught me the most fish of all my hardware. Rooster Tail is a close second
8-10 lb braid line tangling bad is no joke. That's what I started with for my ultralight rod, but eventually bumped up to 20.

Kastmaster just landed the Montana state record brown trout. 32.4 lb beast.

Both great from the boat. Kastmaster from shore to reach a little further out.
