Why are you people in the west so obsessed with race? Who cares what color the person is. I swear western leftism is trying their hardest to keep racial division alive and rampant. Who cares! I think black people in your countries need to take the first step, they can't speak one sentence without talking about color skin. Go to Brasil where everyone is one people but your US bullshit spreads like a disease.

Fun/sad fact the word cowboy was actually used for Black enslaved ranchers first, but then transitioned to White ranchers as well. Since Black males where not seen as adults they called them boys hence the word cowboy. Also, country music along with most music genres were started by Black's, but were soon dominated by Whites because of the heads of the music industry.
@ wow i didn’t know that part of history. Thanks for sharing. I only knew about famous black cowboys and the ones that continue their family legacy these days in certain states. But that makes sense that the sad slavery part would be used to tend for the ranch while the white men went to war. It still bothers me that black cowboys still faced discrimination even as free slaves. You would think there would be a code of honor no matter what.
I love Charlie Pride's music! I was very sad when he passed away. I remember how hard it was for him to get accepted by the country music community. I was a kid then. But Charlie developed a lot of really good friendships in the industry. I really like Shaboozey, too! His song Highway is very good! 🤠👍🏼

It makes sense, when you think about the history of country music, how this fits into that American experience. It started with people who emigrated to Ireland from the borderlands of Scottland and England, tired of a life in a place full of conflict and following a promise of a life that did not materialize from a government that just saw them as colonizing fodder. They mixed with the Irish population, but found themselves with a religion that didn't fit with the local Catholic majority and were being pressured to become Anglicans by the government that had already showed they were nothing more to it than useful fools. So, they emigrated again, as the Scotch-Irish, to the American colonies. Their descendents ended up in places like Appalachia, living a hard life that at least offered some independence in choosing the kind of land no one wanted to fight them for. Country music came from roots of dissapointment, hard times, being underfoot and out of place, being caught between identities and through it all just wishing to be left alone long enough to build a life and get by. It has sounds that long after a peaceful life and a contented home from people who knew peace, contentment, and home are never found for long this side of the grave. It's a cousin of the blues, and the two dance well together, and a song like this hits that place deep down in the human experience that takes any moment it can to be happy to be alive, the part that knows joy never lasts for long, and that you have to grab and hold to it when it comes along.
I asked my grand-daughter if she ever heard of a song on top hits for 10 weeks and she said ya , so I asked her to show me. Ohhhhh I love this song ! Makes you want to get up and start moving......good lord!
