I'm a white boy living and working in Tennessee, you go to Micro brew bars on the weekends.. it's exactly like this. everyone get so fired up over this song, it's absolutely beautiful to watch in real life when everyone gathers and sings together. I'm not even from this state, I'm originally from California and it's so gawd Dang beautiful here in Tennessee right now in the spring time.
I remember when this song came out and my friend told me it was j-kwon’s tipsy made country, and I was like “man, I’m gonna be annoyed.” So glad to be proven wrong so quickly. It was a banger, and all the remixes I’ve heard never even live up to the original song. This homage was done right.
His real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, born and raised in Virginia, his parents were from Nigeria, his friends growing up couldn't quite pronounce his last name right and kept calling him Shaboozey, which he now uses as his stage name.
Love this! We have a good friend whose day name is Cdibacca “Sid-a-bacca”….his first soccer practice as a freshman, my senior brother said “what’s your name? Chewbacca?” And it stuck but quickly became just Chewy. His nickname is Chewy still today. My kids don’t even know his real name and they’re teenagers lol.
Actually, country soul and blues all come from the same thing. Country music has been around since folk tails were put to music unfollowed the migration over to the US and then kind of formed its own life in the US and the same thing happened with blues music. Blues music is just tales and stories passed on from one person to the next to the next and then it was put to music. It’s all story telling. I tell my students all the time if you want to know what was going on in a culture or in history look to their music. It usually will tell a story.
I’m from Kentucky and when this song comes on at ANY type of bad or club, EVERYBODY gets up and starts singing every single word. Definitely gonna be a great bar song for a very long time. Love songs that everybody loves and knows.
Country and rap are very similar just expressed in different ways and different words. Most older country songs were great story songs..No matter the troubles we all can relate
Shaboozey's father was a Nigerian immigrant, who loved Kenny Rogers and they lived in Texas. I just discovered Shaboozey yesterday, he has a ton of great songs. I don't know if you have heard of Dax, he is also great.
Sorry guys but country has always had soul. You just had to listen. Y’all have to remember there’s a lot of real black country folk out here in Texas but Beyoncé was never that. This young man is legit.
@@CookiDough12346 means zero. She’s from the city, the part of the city that made fun of anything country. Called you white wash for listening to country. All she’s doing or tried to do was cash in on an opportunity she thought she had. All of sudden everyone that only jam to r&b and rap are country music enthusiasts. Beyoncé never embraced the country side of Texas so doesn’t understand it. City gal
As a white man, I can safely say I want more black people as country singers. You all may be on to something. Creativity, something I feel us white people have been lacking lately.
i feel proud of hearing this song for the first time on a rooftop in tennesee. seeing the shift in energy from people jamming to this song is unforgettable
I don’t even know music as mush as you guys, and I know @shaboozy some years ago. Damn! The world is definitely missing out on his country style. And yes, he was country b4 beyounce thought of being country.
He’s been around for a while. He actually worked with Beyoncé on her album, but Beyoncé is a country poser. She’s just doing it to say she did it. He’s been around, but he does do other genres. I went to see him and Charlotte not that long ago and he was there with some other singers and we were the only four Black people there, but it was a great time. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Certified banger and I'm a country girl from Ohio this will be a forever bar anthem. I really feel like more African-American men need to really try the country singing their voices are made for storytelling and the instrumentals it's a perfect combination. All music is for everybody there should be no labels on country being for white people or rap for black people it's BS. Do you and make music for the people!
I said he literally showed everyone how his family hears country and god it sounds amazing. I love how he made a country song but his own way never copied anyone
“they gon beat you if you black. If you black, you gon’ get beat” had me crying😂 I’m white but when I had a party my parents still whooped my ass. That’s not a black or white thing. That just a good parent thing. And clearly both of y’all had good parents
We’re all Americans and we just need to push shit to the side and come together. I live right outside of Woodbridge. The news makes it seem far worse than it is. Good people are good people.
"Let me give him a fresh start though, let's get it" You said that line quickly, and moved on, but it stuck with me. That's an awesome line, and if we could use it more it would help with a lot of things. Shaboozey is my current jam. Noah Kahan was my jam before him. Fresh starts are important.
yo if you guys r tryna do more country hip hop type stuff then listen to willie jones he's one of my favs rn. especially down by the riverside or bachelorettes on broadway
Yo did you know what he meant by me and jack Daniel's gotta history meant it hits even harder nearest greene a black man who created the jack Daniel's recipe ✊🏿✊🏿✊🏿
I don't see people talking about this enough in my opinion how stuff like this which seems small can have a big positive impact on our culture. I hope it does happen, you see a black man singing in a usually white dominated space just like how white people can rap, black people can do country or anyone for that matter. It isn't a race, it's a style. This can only be a positive long term in my minds to hopefully change someones mind who have been a racist before or something. I can wish.
Go ahead and lie. We all know country was INFLUENCED by black Americans. But then black Americans abandoned the genre (for the most part) and made fun of white ppl for making and enjoying it. Now that Beyoncé made a trash song and album, the black ppl that abandoned the genre and ridiculed it wanna act like they’ve made country into what it is today. And if u think country is "white ppl music", then explain Freddy Fender, Ray Charles, Charlie Pride, Darius Rucker, Neal McCoy, Tomi Fujiyama, Jimmie Tokita, Masateru Nagatani (Charlie Nagatani) and many more.

2:55 a wise man once said "Country is just Soul and Blues with some twang" 🔥

I mean I grew up on hip hop and old school rap, but damn this guy just changed my taste in music. Protect Shaboozey, he’s a once in a generation type

I’m from Kentucky and when this song comes on at ANY type of bad or club, EVERYBODY gets up and starts singing every single word. Definitely gonna be a great bar song for a very long time. Love songs that everybody loves and knows.

Shaboozey's father was a Nigerian immigrant, who loved Kenny Rogers and they lived in Texas. I just discovered Shaboozey yesterday, he has a ton of great songs. I don't know if you have heard of Dax, he is also great.

So hes country and has done other genres but Beyonce who has done multiple genres and shes a poser? You are silly. She did a country in 2016.

I’ve been in StL since birth. This is just J-Kwon for the suburbs! Add in Chance’s cover of “hot in herre”, and we now got versions for everyone!

If you got the old timer cowboys vibing your good lol but shaboozey a real country boy from Virginia
The raw energy and passion in their performance is palpable. One request. React to End Up Dead by Nick Thurl Mavromatis 😍
You should react to Willie Jones. He from Louisiana and a country singer also
"Let me give him a fresh start though, let's get it"

He needs to put JKwon on the remix since he did it first his was just the club instead of the bar 😂
