People tell me there is a reason why I was the one to endure this horrific cancer. I prefer to think about it this way: It's not WHAT life challenge you are handed, but how you handle it. We all have challenges, and this was mine. That you for your support:)
One of my dear friends got oral cancer, she had her tongue removed and rebuilt from another part of her body, then removed it again because her body rejected it, removed all teeth, voice box and jaw bone removed, and had a trach and a feeding tube. Never smoked a day in her life. The dentist found it, and she went thru absolute hell with pain and deformed face, as well as not being able to talk anymore. She fell into a bad depression and became a home body. It came back a 2nd time, and it killed her at age 44. I miss my sweet friend Kathy😢
I’m so sorry 😣 I’m sorry she had to undergo all of that. And I’m sorry you lost her so young. I can’t image the depression she went through. That’s so heartbreaking. 😣
Wow, it sounds like Kathy had a horrific time, I'm truly sorry she had to endure the multitude of injuries her cancer caused, life is often so unfair. That said, she was lucky to have as great a friend as you obviously were and still are, kudos to you both.

I just finished watching this video and I feel like I found somebody who really knows how brutal this cancer can be. I was diagnosed earlier this year with a sore tongue on my left side and it was chalked up to allergies. I also didn't know there was such a thing as oral cancer. Two weeks went by and I was getting concerned that it had not gone away. A dentist appointment saved my life. Things quickly changed in my life and I felt like I was just given the "death sentence". I had many emotions and kept saying "why me" because I thought I had been taking care of myself - going to the gym, eating healthy, not smoking, occasionally drinking. The only good news was that they found it early and it was Stage 1 squamous cell. I had surgery with a reconstruction as well and 30 radiation treatments. Today I am 3 weeks out from radiation and still feel like this journey will never end. But after reading your harrowing story I feel like there really is a second chance waiting for me out there. Thank you so much for posting your story and I am so glad that you are educating people that you need to pay attention to your mouth. I wish I could talk with you via phone or email sometime if that would be okay. Again, thank you for your uplifting story. God bless you!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Let's to more than pray. ASK for a thorough oral cancer screening at your dental check up. If you are not getting one, move to another practice. The pain to dentists of losing patients will motivate them to raise the bar, make changes, and provide the care you deserve. Oral cancer screenings is in the American Dental Association guidelines!
When we think of cancer we think of the usual sites like breast, brain, bowel, lung, etc. I don't think I've ever heard of a patient with cancer of the tongue. Thank you soooo much! I was wondering when “The Patient Story” would have someone with a head and neck cancer history. I’ve seen your videos. You are helping so many people. I know that nowadays, dentists say that any sore or discoloration in the mouth that doesn’t heal or go away in two weeks should be shown to a dentist. Children do need therapy when a parent is undergoing cancer treatment. Sadly my cancer center did not offer therapy for children. It's hell on the whole family
Excellent share and educational. I was a dental assistant and we had a few patients who dealt with this. The side effects of the burning mouth/throat was sad and we delivered products aimed at moisturizing the tissues that seemed to help. My own cousin.. I'm so impressed with your NY surgeon, kudos.
When I was a senior in high school, my great uncle had oral cancer that he was a nearly live long smoker of no filter camel cigarettes. They did surgery on him and took over half of his tongue, half of his jaw, part of his neck, but they didn’t reconstruct it.. I took him to all of his appointments at the doctors and held his hand while they took the stitches out of his tongue and bless his heart. He just cried like a baby. I’m all I can imagine how painful that was. He also had a trach and I got to clean that out for him.. unfortunately he passed away right after I graduated high school.
You are a beautiful woman. Always self advocate when a Dr dismisses you. I learned a long time ago to ALWAYS trust my gut feeling or intuition. It never fails me. I doubt that Dr would tell a man he “ talks too much”.
My dentist goes the extra mile at my annual cleanings and offers me this rinse that you swish around your mouth for a minute or two. After I spit it out, he looks inside my mouth with a special light. The stuff is nasty, ngl, but I'll put up with the horrible taste for a couple of minutes to know that I have no oral cancers. They probably didn't have this rinse at the time this lovely lady had her cancer. I'm grateful she's alive and well and educating others!

Dear Eva, I just listened to your story and can relate very well, as I went through a similar experience. In 2016, I was diagnosed with stage 4 tongue cancer. Unfortunately, it was too late for surgery, so I underwent an intensive course of radiotherapy and intra-arterial chemotherapy. I understand what you have been through and wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. I am grateful to be alive and able to swallow again, as I couldn’t for two years. I also know how much it affects the family. At the time, I had two teenage children, and it was incredibly difficult for all of us.
What an amazing story. I wholeheartedly agree on the oral cancer screening. My dentist performs this annually if you choose to have it done. It costs me $25. It’s money well spent as far as I’m concerned. Some people don’t want to get because they don’t want to spend more money than they have to. Yes, it’s a very small price to pay. But you owe it to yourself. Please get an annual oral cancer screening. 🙏
Beautiful woman 💖 There's a story of a female ancestor of mine who was said to have tongue cancer. She was given the option of having her tongue cut out and not being able to talk again or to leave it be. She opted to leave it and live out her days. Must've been early 1900s. I'm glad to see how far treatments have come.
My mom had oral cancer on the inside of her cheek…for 3 years or more her primary doctor told her it was nothing but a fungus…she was a smoker….when they finally diagnosed her it was advanced stage 4…she started chemo and died two weeks later….could have been prevented
In 1985 at the age of 18 I was diagnosed stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I understand the radiation treatment part. I was just finished with nine months of chemo and then needed six weeks of radiation. Since my tumor was between my lung and rib cage near my heart, they had to radiate me from my belly button all the way up to my chin, and just under my ears. Going through the first three weeks of radiation was harder than the nine months of chemo. I gave up after three weeks, because all my hair was falling out which I did not do during chemo, and I couldn’t eat or swallow hardly at all, because the radiation on my throat. When I gave up after three weeks, I was called into the doctors office and was given that speech about living and fighting. I did go back and finish the last three weeks. But I weighed 87 pounds after I was done with that. I’m 5 foot six and I looked horrible. I ended up having to spend the next couple weeks in the hospital to get IV fluids, and other things that they needed to do to help me gain weight. Since I had so much radiation on my chest, I ended up having to have a bilateral mastectomy in 2010. Then a couple years ago I had a quarter size spot on my chest that came back as basal cell carcinoma. That had to be removed and then earlier this year I was diagnosed with stage 0 vulva cancer. Our bodies take a toll on how many times you’ve been diagnosed with any type of cancer. Hopefully for me four times was enough.
What an incredibly intelligent woman and a great storyteller as well. I had radiation 32 years ago, but it was to both legs below the knees. Nothing like head and neck radiation. Just tanning of the skin.
I had a biopsy after a couple of years of soreness on my left underside and side of tongue. It started after wearing a partial. Lab said “ severe ulcerative epithelial dysplasia “. I had surgery date set but was so anxious about it I canceled. Oct 8. 2 days prior i immediately picked up my phone after praying fervently for direction and up popped a man named Ron Piana. He told his story of healing his tongue cancer lesion with 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide! I’m doing this now. I’m also going to start using CDS rinses again. After hearing all these terrible stories-I’m still praying for a divine intervention by The Healer of my soul!!! Please agree with me in prayer as well!! I’d be so grateful and honored!! God bless and heal you all!!!❤🙏🙌
Oh my dear you are beautiful inside an out.I have 4cancer, rectal colon the treatment in that area radiation! I had 2nd 3rd degree burns on vagina an rectum but I can’t imangine oral cancer! Treatment there! Radiation omg!! I’m old alone through it all!! I am prone to oral cancer now an all of a sudden my teeth are failing!! I’m so scared! I was also misdiagnosed so many times missed biopsies also!! Lady you are truly lovely and blessed❤
I shall now after watching all of The Patients Story. I will have the Drs test for cancer first! Then work their way down from that. It’s cancer until I find out it not!
My dad went through this. He had it from smoking. I know exactly what her children went through. It never leaves us; the fear. My dad had a stomach feeding tube for over ten years. He worked full time w the tube. He passed away seven years ago, not from cancer, but from aspirated pneumonia that lead to sepsis, from the tube backing up. God bless this woman. I wish I could show my dad. 🥺
My father was a dentist so I have some knowledge of oral cancer but I had no idea that people who neither smoked nor drank could get oral cancer. Best of luck on remaining cancer free and thank you for sharing your story.
Those doctors are incredible, her tongue looks amazing 🤩 praise the Lord she is okay. I have a white spot on my tongue that hurts and has been there for 8months now and going to get biopsy at the dentist this week.
We need to get over some of these beliefs. You never smoked and you got cancer I know people with lung cancer, who never smoked and got cancer. It makes it an elusive concept, but we just need to be alert to our bodies advocate
I was told I brush my teeth too hard! Not Cancer but a severe abscess in my jaw for 7 months. Then told I needed emergent procedure or it would spread to my brain!
I said to myself “what a wonderful storyteller she is”, right before she said she had to cancel a storytelling event. God bless her and her doctor at Mt. Sinai
Thank you Eva for telling your story. I worked 20+ years in dentistry. All the Hygienists did the oral cancer screening orally. They do need to check externally as well. Looking at your post tongue reconstruction, it looks like you have taste buds on that side. Am I mistaken? Did the radiation kill your salivary glands permanently? 😊
It is hpv about 80% of oral cancers are this. I chose natural route and survived stage 4b that spread. I did have lymph nodes removed and by the time I got surgery tumor was dead. Scans showed cancer in lungs was dead.
The primary cause of herpes, is the restrictions of blood flow, l will love to use this medium to thank Doc oromi on RUclips channel for his treatment, and it worked fine for me, thank you Doctor..💕❤❤
Ополаскиватели с антисептиком? Пасты с антисептиком? Если в этом месте язык подвергался постоянному травмированию, то это уже может легко быть причиной само по себе. А если ещё добавить усугубляющие факторы, то тем более.
Read the stuff from Dr Annette Bosworth [Dr Boz on RUclips] .. US certified internist, etc ... relating to body dynamics -- years of chronic inflammation create conditions for cancer development ... very much due to food choices.
By far the best patient testimonial. What an experience so many years ago!

You are a gorgeous woman with guts!! Gods Bless you 💕
You’re amazing thank you for sharing you have a champion spirit ❤
My father was a dentist so I have some knowledge of oral cancer but I had no idea that people who neither smoked nor drank could get oral cancer. Best of luck on remaining cancer free and thank you for sharing your story.
Those doctors are incredible, her tongue looks amazing 🤩 praise the Lord she is okay. I have a white spot on my tongue that hurts and has been there for 8months now and going to get biopsy at the dentist this week.
I wish you well! Good luck!!
I had lump on the side of my tongue, but thankfully, it was benign.
@@pam164 That's good news.
We need to get over some of these beliefs. You never smoked and you got cancer I know people with lung cancer, who never smoked and got cancer. It makes it an elusive concept, but we just need to be alert to our bodies advocate
My mother died of lung cancer. She never smoked, but she lived with smokers and was a cleanaholic. Who knows what really killed her.

Wow! 💔
Google: “Globally:
Over 50% of women with lung cancer are non-smokers, compared to 15-20% of men.”
it comes down to genes and environmental causes

And diet. 💯💕
Beautiful, strong woman ❤
I was told I brush my teeth too hard! Not Cancer but a severe abscess in my jaw for 7 months. Then told I needed emergent procedure or it would spread to my brain!
Your amazing Eva ❤️❤️❤️
I said to myself “what a wonderful storyteller she is”, right before she said she had to cancel a storytelling event. God bless her and her doctor at Mt. Sinai
"you are talking too much.." huh??? Unbelievable suggestion from a "doctor"!
Exactly so I guess people that do talk radio school teaching etc where you talk a lot on a daily basis would get tongue sores .
🙏🙏🙏
I just wait to my dentist for yearly cleaning he did not check!!! Years ago my favorite dentist always checked!!!
It’s terrible you had to go through this, but I must say you are a great storyteller
Super mummy
I can't believe how you were repeatedly dismissed. What a nightmare for you.
Wow
EMDR & Psilocybin dosing (micro or more) will do WONDERS for your daughter…and with little or no side effects.
This is such a beautiful story! And YOU tell it with such passion and I appreciate you sharing ❤
❤🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️
They did an amazing job! Those other doctors need to have their license yanked.
Amen 🙏
You are as beautiful as a model.
It is hpv about 80% of oral cancers are this. I chose natural route and survived stage 4b that spread. I did have lymph nodes removed and by the time I got surgery tumor was dead. Scans showed cancer in lungs was dead.
The primary cause of herpes, is the restrictions of blood flow, l will love to use this medium to thank Doc oromi on RUclips channel for his treatment, and it worked fine for me, thank you Doctor..💕❤❤
i just wrote on google i have pain on sides of tongue and this is first video google recommend me ☠
Talk too much??? TALK TOO MUCH? That doctor should lose his license.
Could you tell me if your cancer was hpv positive? Thank you
Ополаскиватели с антисептиком? Пасты с антисептиком? Если в этом месте язык подвергался постоянному травмированию, то это уже может легко быть причиной само по себе. А если ещё добавить усугубляющие факторы, то тем более.
Read the stuff from Dr Annette Bosworth [Dr Boz on RUclips] .. US certified internist, etc ... relating to body dynamics -- years of chronic inflammation create conditions for cancer development ... very much due to food choices.
