You’re a natural in your ability to present this information in a relaxing and comfortable manner. That’s a rare talent.
One of the best and the clearest explanation of zebras. Thank you.
love how this video keeps it real with the info and how frustrating it can be.
Super-valuable! I don't know why I've not seen more explanation of zebra levels before this. Thank you!
OMG!!!! FINALLY FINALLY I HAVE FOUND IT!!! an intuitive video showing hands on real life "HOW TO"....I kid you not I felt sleep watching Gerald Undone not to mentioned that other videos would just glaze over the same info....THANK YOU. THUMPS UP and new Sub!
I learned SOOOOOOO much from this video. Including that I've been using zebras wrong this entire time.
I’m so happy it helped you!! Aren’t zebras a total game changer?! 🦓
OK I’ve only watched videos but they’re TERRIFIC! You don’t waste my time you just come with the facts in a clear and entertaining way. Got my subscription.🤘
That bit about IRE was HILARIOUS!! So completely matches my learning experience. Great video.
What is this? A cinematography tutorial that's not secretly an ad?! On RUclips?!?! 😮 Thanks for this. Didn't even know I needed it.
This has been the best explanation on Zebras that I've ever seen. Thanks!
Outstanding presentation! Thank you for making this video. You're clearly very imaginative and talented.
This is so informative. And I like that you don’t get too technical for us folks who are just getting into this stuff. This gives me a great starting point and I can run with it and learn through experience. Just what I need! Thank you and keep up the great work! I can’t wait to get my A7C out there and get some footage!
I can't wait to see your videos when you get it!! I wish you could just tag me when you post it. I'm already subscribed to your channel, but just in case I don't get the notification!
This was so great explaining this to me. Thank you. I’m planning on getting a canon r6 mkII and I know with clog3 it has an extra stop of range so it’s recommended to set the zebra to 40% to match -18 gray for that clog. Love how you explain the happy medium too 65
Very helpful. I really enjoyed this. Now I understand why zebras have a setting for 70. Thank you.
So glad you found it helpful!
Love this, thank you so much! I have to lock in and study tonight
Bravo 👏🏻 I wish more people just explained it so simple and easy like this. Yes, you can go way more technical to this, but most of us will never use it for anything other than on the fly adjustments. Thank you for this. Cheers from Norway 🇳🇴
I’m so glad what I taught made sense! That’s exactly what I try to do - just focus on the practical aspects so that it’s easy to understand and use, so I really appreciate the feedback. Let me know if there’s anything else you want to know about!
Ahhhhh, you're amazing! So glad you made this video. Subscribed - can't wait to learn more!
Thumb up. Great video !. Thank you for explaining the zebra.
Thank you for making this video. The video was simple that I was able to understand about exposure of zebra. You rock💯
I just stumbled onto your page, and I have to say, I am really impressed with your format and presentation. Subbed.
Best explanation on youtube! Thank you!
That was sooooo helpful! Thank you for explaining it simply in a way that we could just hit the ground running! Amazing! Subscribed! ❤
I’m convinced that you’re a superhero, just for this video alone. Awesome video!

Excellent video! Great explanation. Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it!!
Great video. What might a proper zebras ire be if you want to record afternoon sky?
Excellent ! Merci!
Informative AND entertaining! Well done!
this video was really good
Thank you!
@1:01 LOL so funny :)
Appreciate this video!! Really good tutorials!!
Have watched tones of video before, but yours is just so informative and easy to understand and apply it. Subscribed!🥰
Thank you so much. I needed to hear that, because I’ve been second guessing all of them and had kind of lost momentum which is why I haven’t made one in a while. I guess I’ll have to start making them again!
@@NotThatRyanReynolds as a RUclipsr myself, I totally get what you’re saying. But hey, it’s RUclips. It will always be the effing momentum. I kinda let that out of my mind recently when I realized, as long as one person in this world watch only one clip of mine and found just one information that’s useful/helpful. Then I am doing something GOOD and RIGHT.
And you did it to me! So keep sharing That Ryan 🥰
That’s kind of there I’m at! Feel like there’s pressure to keep some kind of schedule, but I think I’m just going to post when I have something important to share and stop trying to make things up that may or may not be helpful. Thanks again for the pep talk!!
This was a delightful and informative video. I've never used the custom zebra setting on my camera for skin tones (or familiarized myself with Ansel Adam's chart), so dialing in the 65 +/-5 custom setting was a new adventure for me. Since I'm largely videoing people, in interviews and in general, your suggestion is going to come in handy. Thanks for your charming and cheeky approach to this helpful topic. Keep up the good work!
I’m so happy it was helpful for you, and I’ve never been called cheeky before, but I like it 😊
This was perfect 👍
Bahahahaha love the laymans translation. I.can relate
This is sooooo helpful!! Thank you!!
ahahahah I love your vídeos, you always make me laugh! One question, if you don't mind... At 3:45 if you take a photo of that scene but with a person in it looking at you, how would you set the zebras to? +-70% for the skin and maybe blow up the sky or +-106 to the highlights in the sky and underexpose the person's skin tones? TIA
Thank you for explaining that!
great video
Another great video. Subscribed :)
what if i'm recording myself outside, the sky is bright but then I have to expose for the sky and then myself. How do i handle that?
very fun editing- great job
Just filmed an archery tournament and used these kinda wrong. Had them set to 100 and made some shots too dark. I was using an nd filter to lower the light
What impact is on skin tones when underexosing, with A7iii?
I like to expose in "middle" for highlights keeping as much information as possible but not underexpose too much, and Im able to bring exposure up in lightroom.
This is super useful and informative!
great vid thanks
do you have a zebra tip for a6400 slog2 video
Thanks so much! You made this so easy to understand!
I’m so happy to hear you say that! It’s been a huge help for me 😊
Nice job! I like your creativity. Thank you for the explanation.
Thanks for that cool and helpful video.
well done, thank you
Excelente explicación. Te pasaste... Mil gracias
Love the creative & entertaining editing & content. Your like a little expert that just popped up on my timeline… thx YT! I have the A7C & A7S3… I want ZV-1 as well. I’m learning the basics still, I only use A7C as my dedicated Stream cam as I primarily do game streams, but I want to change the direction of my channel for Vlog style & tech & gear tutorials instead.
Thanks so much! I’ve never been called an expert before 😆 it feels nice! I love the ZV-1. Look for an open box at Best Buy - it will save you a ton of money! Your channel idea sounds great! I would definitely watch!!
thanks! makes sense for portrait, but / so / i am confused. so if you set zebras (level?) to 65 (%?) +-5 (%?), does that mean that zebras will APPEAR BETWEEN 60 and 70 (percent irl value?) to let you know that an area is PERFECT - as opposed to blown-out?!?!?!!?? That hurts my brain. ...
But when you set them high like 90%, the camera magically knows that that means blown-out highlights? So I've been setting my [zebra levels?] to 70 bc a portrait phtgphr told me to, but I'm taking night landscapes and wrongly assuming that the zebras mean blown-out highlights but it just means "This area is a 70% ir-whatever value? Ouch halp! I am so missing something crucial!
What am I missing ? This has been making my brain ache sorely for months
Thank you.
Great Video
Thanks info, underrated channel
Thanks so much!! I’m working on making it even better 😊
Recording Raw video is amazing.
Love it. Thank you for this!
Really useful!
Thank you so much :)
Great explanation! Thank you for this! 👊🏿
Hi! Thx for this video, I have a ZV-E10 and I want to shoot in RAW outside. I setted the Zebras to 100. So basically when I see on the screen I just have to modify the F-stop to get rid of them right? Cuz sometimes I see zebras on my model that I wanna photograph.
This works great for my PP5 Cine2, PP7 Slog2 but for some reasons they don’t show up on my PP9 Hlg using Sony A7iii any andvice?
Really helped me, thank you 🙂
Obrigado querido, abraço do Brasil. Ganhou mais um assinante, um like e um comentário. Continue, seu canal está quase monetizando.

Subbed.

Why not HLG3? Noise?
so helpful and funny! thank you!
Educational and entertaining. Love it!
I’m so glad!! Thanks for the awesome feedback 😊
Great explanation on this!
Very helpful video!! Thank you!!
You’re welcome! Is there anything else like this you’ve got questions about?
Awesome video! Thanks so much.
You’re so welcome! Glad you liked it 😁
how would you know when its too over exposed then and highlight is blown out on face?
if you set the Zebras to 65 and they do not appear on the face then either you are underexposed or overexposed thats how you would nknow. If you want to make sure it is blown out then set the Zebras to 100 and see if they appear on the face then it is blown out.
