I have a question. Can the torque be checked while it's on the ground or does it have to be lifted up before you can check? I checked when it was on the ground and it seems tight.

Ya got it wrong. It is: 1) 4H = no vacuum = hubs (or integrated wheel end) engaged, 2) 2H = vacuum = IWE disengaged. This is important when troubleshooting the four-wheel-drive solenoid.

The tough issue for the masses that watch for videos is that F150 rules the roost when it comes to 5.4 triton or ford 4x4s helpful hinter vids.. I have a specific 07 expedition w/notorious 5.4 and there are few if any vids on where the damn hood latch is let alone where the IWE solenoid or how many chck valves are attached. The unicorn of the expedition and fords wisdom of making different flavors in 5.4 of the same year for diff models has to be the greatest happy ending by Fords grand planners. Thanks for making this of a general nature, Maybe just Maybe show some work on the 07-14 expeditions but with laser focus of what it looks like before you folks work your magic. Thank you in advance.

Great video ... I was already thinking I needed to replace my axel... can that grinding noise also be caused by a loose control arm... since technically it would not be as tight as it should for it to engage properly??

I had this issue on my 2013 f150. Passenger side IWE does not disengage. Vacuum signal seems to be ok. Although I have no way to accurately test it, However testing it with the tip of my finger it feels pretty much the same as drivers side, which disengages ok, I thought of a faulty IWE, Replaced it and still is not disengaging. Any suggestion of what could be going wrong.

Can that loose nut cause damage to any of the parts that are in that area? My front end was making a rumbling sound for quite a while and I found that loose nuts was the problem. Everything seems normal now but I am wondering if I am going to run into problems in the future.

How strong is the vacuum at both actuators suppose to be? My driver side has somewhat good vacuum but the passenger side vacuum is reall weak. Also when i hit 50mph my passenger side tire starts vibrating like crazy. Also my 4WD stopped working. Would i have to change out the transfer case motor first?

3:02 where exactly does one go to “look up the torque spec” for stuff like this? Sorry if this is a stupid question but I just took my bumper off on my 96 bronco the other day and I didn’t even bother looking for the torque spec for the bumper bolts, just tightened it up to 85 ft lbs. Where does one go to find such specific information?

On my uncle's 2005 F-150, sometimes when he puts the truck in "Drive" and releases brake pedal, truck doesn't move, as if something is holding it. He needs to accelerate a bit to make it move. We lifted the vehicle in the air and put it in Neutral, and all wheels seem to spin freely, didn't feel any drag. Almost a year ago we changed front and rear differential fluid and truck was fine, until very recently. Could it be 4x4 issue or something else?

@@shantor100 you can also buy a delete kit. Its a 4x4 actuator (part on hub) without vacuum lines. The hubs stay locked in and axles spin but the driveshaft isn't spinning and sending power unless you put it in 4x4. A lot of people disconnect or run the delete kit. Haven't heard any horror stories yet.
