How to know when a game has a good soundtrack:
When you haven't even *thought* about the game for several years, and then someone casually mentions it and its main theme immediately gets stuck in your head.
I played this game 7 years ago and remembered this theme like I played it yesterday.
I have never forgotten about this game and I doubt I ever will, what a work of art.

I was totally caught off guard by how visceral and disturbing this game was.
While watching the anime, the scene where the (spoilers) blonde person died after coming back because he felt guilt for leaving everyone behind and going back to the real world, and helped everyone else escape but he died GRAPHICALLY... makes you think... dont fall to peer pressure and DONT GO BACK TO MURDER SCHOOLS

@@Buhhhhhhhhhhhh Uhhhh anthology was fun, it made the game series refreshing by making a comedy, funny game about it, while leaving some "breadcrumbs" that leads into blood drive, which I agree turned into something very messy. And don't say anything about Dead Patient, we can't really judge a game that's not even complete, nor did the makers tend to complete it. Hopefully Darkness Distortion can be at least a decent ending for the series--It deserves a well-written ending.

Corpse party is responsible for my entry into Japanese horror even though I first watched it when I only 14 back like 2015. Thanks to this anime I still love horror to this day and I even got to this a number of haunted / abandoned places in Japan last year. The atmosphere was great.

It had been a long time since I had listened to such an inspiring music track.
The part at 0:44 is simply perfect, musically speaking; the chord progression and modulations form a perfect sequence of sounds. The melody is fluent, and makes sense. There are no notes which sound off. The bass-line is excellent, its rhythm complements the whole melody. When the main melody repeats at 1:02, the background string ensemble's melody matches the primary one remarkably well.
That part is a rare example of musical perfection.

I've played this game through to the end SO many times over the years growing up. I have to say, despite being a somewhat flawed product, it's almost perfect to me. The music, atmosphere, voice acting, artwork, characters, and story all come together to make one of my all time favorite experiences I've ever had with a video game, ever. ❤️
There is a sequel/prequel/midquel called book of shadows that continues from certain endings from this first game. If you love this story and the characters you should play it if you haven't. Also blood drive comes after book of shadows.

I think it might be. I like ray of hope though in chapter 5 when they all gather together and almost have all the things and knowledge they need to escape and things start turning for the better and hope was restored. That song fit the situation perfectly.
I love the way the tension builds up in the first 40 seconds.
This game was both terrifying and a giant pile of depression.

Welcome to the future guys I'm sad that this series is dying but it still strong saw berleezy playing this game last year it's looks beautiful and scary so I will try to play it
I only played this game once, years ago, and yet just the first 8 bit notes are enough to draw out all the feels, that's just how good of a game this is (and the music slaps)
I love how this track stands out so much from the other motifs in the ost. The main section sets up the chord structure that the main motif of the game (an investigatory one) present in all other chapters follows, even though it doesn't actually appear from what I can hear. This is because this is the chapter that you are completely naive, and have no idea what's happening. You are trying to survive, not figure out what's going on.
Similarly, you haven't yet experienced tragedy, which is why the hopeful main chorus is reused in the rest of the ost as the bad ending riff, serving as rather than hope, cutting the full chorus short with a tragic finishing sequence of chords. The full, hopeful version, is used later in the game very reservedly, to remind how you felt in chapter 1, and to motivate you to not let the end of chapter 1 be in vain.
Oh and Ray of Hope is this song but with reimagined positive versions of the melodies.
Ray of hope was so good especially the timing of it. All the other tracks between ch1 main theme and Ray of hope were pretty errie or depressing. That positive hopeful sound after all that was very moving
i still comeback to this every few months. man, this game really brought me into a whole new world of entertainment. it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

I have a hunch that the music playing in the background reflects the characters personalities or the story, or something like that. I mean, think about it, in the first chapter we have Seiko and Naomi (but mostly Seiko) who were optimistic about leaving and hence they had hope, which would be why the Background Music is so uplifting. Then in chapter 4 (& 5), when all the horrors of the children are being revealed, the music becomes more serious and sad..
This should be the goal of any good game composer. It's supposed to enhance what's going on on-screen and suck you in which this music definitely does and is very atmospheric.

This fills so much nostalgia, happiness, and sadness at the exact same time. Watching Cry play this. Honestly Cry was one of the first gaming RUclipsrs I've ever watched, and this was the first game I watched. Memories 💖.
The fact I remember watching PewDiePie playing this when I was younger, then finally playing the game on Steam/3DS years later, gives me good memories and brings back all of the terrors I wasn't afraid of back then

It's not hard to notice that from a technical sound perspective, this version is vastly superior to the extended version of the 3DS. Mastering is better, sound quality is better, dynamics are better.

Oh yeah. This whole game is mysterious and sad. Some endings really got me. Especially the true ending and how Naomi will never see Seiko again. Of all people to not make it in the end, Seiko was a pretty sad one. She is positive, humble, forgiving and selfless. She helped Naomi fight the darkening. Seiko's spirit is forever in heavenly host from that point on. Apparently book of shadows is even sadder.

Yes. I really enjoy this more than all other RPG horror games. I didn't start at Pewdiepie's series. I know this game from a youtuber in my country. So I searched for another gameplay, just to enjoy it again in a different way. After that I found pewdiepie.
I can never forget the characters and the plot even after these many years. And it's quite happy for me to see a new comment this year that people hadn't forgot this game...

I couldn't sleep after listening to this music and playing the game. Getting chased by the black hairy apparition was way more scary, and I couldn't sleep at night.

The game that ignited my interest in horror games and eventually, visual novel as I played book of shadows and the anthology. Man, can't imagine it's almost a decade since I played this(which was back in 2012 I think).
I remember this theme so well. The happy tone and fast pace had me thinking ‘Oh maybe this game isn’t as bad as it looks. Yeah it’s called Corpse Party but this sounds pretty upbeat and chill. I’m sure it’ll all be fine’.

Playing through this game, I couldn’t help but feel that quite a few of the tracks like this would also fit very well in a Castlevania entry. It gives the same kind of feelings with the composition and instrumentation.
