I have an I idea for a Batman elseworld story where instead of Batman being rich he is poor and his parents die when he was ten so he has to try being Batman on a budget, and Alfred is a ex mia agent who helps him
I agree. My favorite Elseworlds Version of Batman is Vampire Batman from Earth 43 mostly because of the artwork by Kelley Jones and how he makes Vampire Batman horrifying.
The first elseworld story I ever read is also my favorite. It was the original version of _Superman Red, Superman Blue_ from the early 1960s. The story has Superman split into two beings, both of them good. Modern readers would likely consider it too honey, but my 8-year-old self loved it.
*"Batman in Nine Lives"* is in my opinion an underrated elseworlds story. It's like two parts Chinatown and one part Batman, so anyone who loves flim noir and Batman should enjoy it. Strongly recommended!
I had so many dumb ideas for alternate Batman stories like: -Batman: Zodiac (Batman vs Zodiac Killer) -The Taxicab Hero (Batman: Taxi Driver) -A Dark Month In Compton (Batman: Gran Torino) -Batman: FOLKPÜNK (Batman: 1920s, Batman: Requiem For A Dream/Pi)
5:20 I just had to let you all know that I stop this video and play it back three times to make sure I got that correctly and now I'm pausing it to let you know that I just went to VRV and subscribed
I highly recommend "World's Funnest," an Elseworlds story in which Mister Mxylplk and Bat-Mite have a magical superfight which results in the reckless destruction of a couple dozen universes. To me, it feels like an eccentric tour of DC's storied past, and seeing how characters in each era Mxy and Mite go to react to the fight is half the fun. Even better, the recent "World's Funnest" collection packaged this tale with a bunch of key appearances from our two favorite imps, including an arc from "Superman/Batman" which might be even better than the main attraction.
you nailed all my main favs. but i also sometimes catch myself re-reading JLA Created Equal, Batman - the Doom that came to Gotham, and Elseworld's Finest - Supergirl & Batgirl
Batman: White Knight, it is a smart exploration of Batman and Joker’s relationship, and has commentary on how Harley Quinn is seen nowadays, rather than when she was first introduced.
Top 20 DC Elseworlds Stories: 1. Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (Batman vs. Jack the Ripper in Victorian-era Gotham) 2. Batman/Houdini: The Devil’s Workshop (Batman teaming up with Harry Houdini to track down a supernatural menace in 1909) 3. Superman’s Metropolis (Reimagining of Fritz Lang’s classic sci-fi film “Metropolis” with Superman’s origin thrown in) 4. Batman: Nosferatu (Sequel to #3 on this list; Batman created as a literal “Creature of the Night”. Took influences from “The Cabaret of Dr. Caligari”) 5. Batman: Detective #27 (Bruce Wayne as a pulp novel style detective working to stop a plot that stretches straight back to the American Civil War) 6. Elseworld’s Finest (Reimagining of the Superman/Batman team and most of the DC universe in the 1920’s) 7. Superman & Batman: Generations (Trilogy of stories told over the course of decades and centuries starting in 1939 or 1929; Shows what would happen if the World’s Finest Team and the rest of the DC universe had aged normally and continued to pass on their legacy as heroes to their descendants). 8. Batman: Vampire (Trilogy that shows the Dark Knight as a vampire and the consequences of such a radical change). 9. JSA: The Golden Age (Alternate telling of the last days of the Justice Society in the late 40s’ and early 50s’, as the U.S. begins to move into a uncertain future amidst the Cold War and McCarthyism) 10. Batman: The Order of Beasts (1939 Batman works to uncover a secret order of Nazi spies in WWII-era London) 11. Batman: Scar of the Bat (Batman in 1920’s Chicago taking down Al Capone) 12. Superman: Red Son (Superman’s rocket crash lands in 1938 Russia and he becomes a hero of the Soviet Union) 13. Robin 3000 (Focuses on the Robin of the 31st Century after his mentor Bruce Wayne XX (or Bruce Wayne the twentieth, the Batman of this era) is killed in the midst of an alien invasion) 14. Superman: Speeding Bullets (Superman is adopted by the Wayne family and becomes a super powered Batman) 15. JLA: Shogun of Steel (Reimagining of the DC heroes as warriors in feudal Japan) 16. Batman: Holy Terror (Batman and the rest of the DC universe takes shape in a U.S. run under a strict Christian Theocracy. Think the Puritans of Colonial era America, only allowed to grow in number and thrive for 400 more years) 17. Superman: Kal (Superman becomes a part of Arthurian legend when his story inspires a young apprentice wizard named Merlin) 18. “Batman: Brotherhood of the Bat” and “Batman: League of Batmen” (The son of Batman Tallant Wayne assumes the mantle fifty years into an ongoing apocalypse created by Ra’s Al Ghul and creates his own squad of Batmen to fight back) 19. Batman: Castle of the Bat (The tale of Frankenstein with Bruce Wayne as the mad scientist bent on revenge for the murder of his parents) 20. Son of Superman (18 years after the Man of Steel goes missing, his son Jon Kent develops superpowers and recklessly takes hold of the title)
I love Elseworlds! I only have a few original copies and three compilations (Superman, Batman & Justice League). But I'd rather have the original issues collected
My sister lent me her copy of the Kingdom Come graphic novel ages ago and I've never given it back. There's something about that world, and that version of Superman I really like. Also, I just love the art of Alex Ross.
I loved the two-part Age of Wonder. Essentially, it's the Justice League at the turn of the 20th Century and Clark Kent (called The Superman) is the symbol of a growing Cyberpunk society as he fast-forward's technology ultimately leading to an atomic bomb attack in 1913! The art is a little minimalist (only the close-up characters have fully-realized faces), and the pieces don't entirely fit together -- the series really should have been much longer - but it's a pretty good interpretation of a very different JSA.
One of my all-time favorite comics is not just an Elseworlds story, but a crossover to boot. It’s “Batman/Tarzan: Claws of the Cat-Woman”. Not only does Bruce Wayne meet John Clayton, the Earl of Greystoke, but there’s cool variations of both Two-Face and Cat-Woman, too, as Batman and Tarzan trek to a lost city in Africa.
@@MIrfanPerdana well technically it's more than that. I'm referring to "world's greatest superheroes" which is a trade that collects all the DC books Ross did with Paul Dini (superman:peace on earth, batman:war on crime, etc)
Really like your videos. Have you ever done or thought of doing an episode on the DC war comics? SGT Rock, G I Combat, Blackhawk, Losers, Unknown Solider, etc.
I always felt that Last Son Of Earth was interesting - completely flipping Supes' origin by asking more than just "what if his ship didn't land in Kansas?"
In 1994, DC's anuals were al Elseworlds stories. The best for me were 1) The Legion of Super-Heroes Annnual 5 ("The Long Road Home"), a stoy within the story set in an Oz like world, and 2) "The Super Seven", told in Adventures of Superman Annual 6 and Superboy Annual 1, that featured an Earth invaded by aliens and had some super cool renditions of Batman and Green Lantern (Hal Jordan).
When they bring the late 70's and early 80's stuff from Nick, I will get more excited. I would love to see them include every episode of 'You Can't Do That On TV'! That show is what made Nick what it is today. If it were not for it, we would not have the famous Nickelodeon Green slime and several other series might have never made it to Nick if it hadn't been a hit.
Personal fave? World's Funnest, where Bat-Mite and Mr. Mxyzptlk battle across the multiverse. It has Alex Ross painting Bat-Mite and the denizens of Bizarro world saying "We are doomed. Yay!" What else could you ask for?
Definitely agree on Kingdom Come. Never was into DC other than Batman, but the artwork was so amazing I had to get it. Every comic book lover should own it for the artwork alone. BTW, can you ask when VRV will be available outside of US? I want some of that 90's Nick toons!
I've forgotten what it's called but when Bruce Wayne is the host for a demonic batman entity and Alfred is Merlin x loved ready it x ps merry Christmas buddy keep up the amazing content.
I haven't read the Gotham by Gaslight comic, but the movie was amazing, I'll have to check it out, if they changed the twist then I'll definitely need to read it.
Batman and Dracula has to be my first Elseworld The artwork and just the overall horror look to it was wicked that and Batman with super long pointy ears looking like death itself with his oversized cape is just wicked
I love Gotham by Gaslight but I’m also a big fan of it’s follow up: Master of Tomorrow. Both focus on Batman the detective and I wish they’d play up that aspect of him in the movies rather than the screwed up rich kid with nice toys.
I know its not technically considered else world but the story of THE DARK KNIGHTS from the negative multiverse was pretty cool..seeing those different versions of Bruce Wayne/Batman
I want some kind of sequel or something related to speeding bullets. It's such a great concept. Superman with the moral outlook and upbringing of batman. And a joker with the intellect and ego of lex Luther. *so much potential*
"Batman/Dark Joker: The Wild". It's one of the few Elseworlds stories to show a high fantasy DC universe and has a fairly unorthodox portrayal of the Dark Knight
Red Son doesn't need a sequel. The ending was perfect.
I have an I idea for a Batman elseworld story where instead of Batman being rich he is poor and his parents die when he was ten so he has to try being Batman on a budget, and Alfred is a ex mia agent who helps him
you mean Alfred being an ex MI5/6 agent ?
But actually that's a freakin great idea !!!
friggin boom toys
That's a freaking awesome idea
Dc needs to hire you
I'm surprised that isn't a story done by Elseworld or anyone else
Alternate timelines make good stories.
I agree. My favorite Elseworlds Version of Batman is Vampire Batman from Earth 43 mostly because of the artwork by Kelley Jones and how he makes Vampire Batman horrifying.

ahhh elseworlds ... some of the best work dc does.
Justice League: New Frontier. Such a beautiful tale and artwork by the legendary Darwyn Cooke. It's amazing.

The Zodiac one sounds really cool!!
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822 thanks, it was going to have the Zodiac coming to Gotham and 1970s Batman fighting him.
That first pitch is pretty much just ‘The Batman’ film. Like these pitches, though.
